We were pleasantly surprised with our vegetarian breakfast so much so that we looked forward to the next morning's breakfast. It was prepared quite quickly, was exceptionally tasty and Hilda our ever so friendly waitress made us feel good. The Nottingham Hotel is perfectly located and Mandy the obliging and helpful manager ensured that our visit to the Kamberg Nature Reserve went according to plan and helped to choose a safe route for us (fewer potholes) . We must add that vegetarian pizza that we had ranks amongst the tastiest and the best that we have eaten. We'll come back next time to try the pizza wheels!
As a paraplegic my special needs were accommodated and I was shown a few rooms to choose from. Will definitely come back!

My wife and I stayed 1 night, arriving at 1PM with a rental car and parking in front. A friendly receptionist checked the prepaid voucher, as I signed a waiver sheet, before presenting a large key. She escorted us through the dining room to the hotel section.
Room 22 was carpeted and very spacious with a comfortable king, nice closet, desk and hassock, couch, 2 sitting chairs and a fully outfitted bathroom with tub, separate shower and heat lamp. A side door opened to a patio with table and chairs just off the large grass garden.
The room was quiet, with a hot pot with coffee/tea, excellent satellite TV(200+ channels), good secure WIFI and ice from the bar.
The 7:30AM breakfast, served in the restaurant’s dining room, was excellent; Juice, choice of eggs, toast/jams, meat and regular coffee. We also enjoyed a delicious lunch of wood fired thin crust Ham & Pineapple pizza with Guinness draught and lemonade.
On the negative side, the morning’s hot water took a while to reach our room and the TV had a comprehensive guide but it was difficult to scroll to a particular channel.
Overall, good service and value with pleasant personalities throughout this well managed establishment.

I made the booking with great expectations when I looked at the photos and website. Sadly I was very disappointed> The gardens was very neglected. In front of my garden room there was only a rusted bench that you could not sit on. Dry patches of grass, and a very neglected rose bush. The room was adequate, but the bathroom was so small that you had to get into the shower, and close the door before you could squeeze through to the toilet. The restaurant menu is overpriced for the setting, Old wooden benches and overgrown grass outside the restaurant area. No nice view or abiance. i was really very disappointed.

This email is addressed to the owner of the Hotel only,

I would like to bring to your attention a very disappointing and unacceptable experience my family and I had at your hotel this past weekend. We checked into the hotel on friday just after 4pm. During the early hours of Saturday morning there was absolutely no running water in the entire hotel. Water was only restored around 10am, unfortunately without any hot water. Between me, my wife and 2 kids we had to heat water in the kettle and take a bucket bath. This was a huge inconvenience and something we have never experienced in any 3 star hotel anywhere in the world. This inconvenience continued up to the time we checked out of the hotel. Unfortunately the explanation from the staff was illogical and unfair to us as guests. I was told that being in a rural area these occurrences are normal and must be expected. If that is the case why wasn't I notified of this when I made the booking?

What I found completely shocking and unacceptable is that you, the owner of the hotel, was nowhere to be seen when all this was happening. Furthemore I was not given any compensation either. Whilst I was at the reception area, there was another couple staying 2 doors away from us who complained about the same problem. You clearly have a don't care attitude and have no respect for your guests. You do not appreciate the support that people give your hotel. Most importantly you have no ethics in business.

Taking the above factors into account we will not be returning to The Nottingham Road Hotel again as we will not risk going through the same ordeal again. I was told that this risk is a reality. If you have any decency in you I will appreciate a portion of my booking refunded to me in good faith. If you were in my shoes I think You would want the same.

We had an absolutely wonderful trip! We needed to find last minute accommodation and called the hotel, they were incredibly friendly and immediately reserved a room for our little family. We arrived to a friendly and accommodating staff- who went out of their way to be attentive! The food is divine - especially the breakfast (included in the price). I would recommend you visit as soon as possible.

Sadly we did not meet the resident ghost!

We found this hotel advertised for approximately R700 but on confirming the booking we were immediately charged more than R1000. No one could explain this. On arrival the reception area looked like it had not been cleaned after the previous nights party and we wandered around aimlessly while all the staff ignored us completely. While waiting for someone to talk to I looked into an open room which smelled very musty. When we eventually managed to talk to someone they had no idea why we had been over charged and it took more than two weeks of patience and being polite trying to get refunded that we were told there would be no refund because we did not stay. Very disappointing.

We loved our stay at Notties, had a great meal and drinks in the pub and slept peacefully.
The garden is lovely to walk around in.
Notties is proactive with Covid, they supplied sanitizer at each door and everyone is required to wear a mask.

Our stay was ok. Most of the time we were out but at the hotel, there was nothing to do for our teenage boys. Their food needs attention, you wait almost an hour for the food, and is overpriced. The staff at the restaurant was slow and not helpful. The reception staff and bar staff were very helpful. The rooms were clean.

We stayed in a garden room. There was dog poo on our lawn, rooms were very cold with no heater or heating blankets. Small rooms that are fairly run down. There was no water to shower in the morning. Cappuccinos at breakfast not included. Extremely noise penetrating walls. If I had paid 800:- per night to stay here this is probably what I could expect but for 1900 per room this was an extremely disappointing experience and we certainly would not recommend anyone looking for a romantic getaway to book this place.

The booking process was easy as was checkin process. However, we were not told there were big functions at the hotel on 2 of the 3 nights we were sleeping there. On the 2 nights with functions we got no sleep. It was loud until early morning hours with drunk people and music. We also had 2 drunk people knock on our door very late at night and demand we let them in. We booked the hotel for sleep and sadly that was the only thing we didn't get. The rooms downstairs looked lovely, the room we were given upstairs was quite dated in comparison and had a door adjoining it to a strangers room.
