Camp Kwando garners high praise from guests for its clean and spacious campsites, with the hotel's staff earning accolades for their warm and attentive service. While this was the least expensive lodge on our tour, many aspects do not reflect the lower rates. Everything is clean, well organized and in good working condition. The highlight was the fire pit, a lovely place for both a sundowner (one of the few Namibian places offering Aperol Spritz) and an after dinner Amarula.

The tents are are basic but nicely decorated. The same is true for the meals: not elaborate in any way but very satisfactory. My daughter certainly enjoyed her birthday cake and the accompanying songs by a huge group of friendly staff. While the pool is located in a sunny place, it was the coldest one of our trip at 17 degrees. The rooms are neither heated nor insulated and it was just 12 degrees indoors when we got up. Bed bottles are available on request and they kept us warm at night.

Two things to bring along: As there is no wifi anywhere, an MTC sim with a data plan is a good investment. After dinner, neither the walkways nor the outside of the tents are illuminated. Don‘t forget a flashlight or a mobile phone when going to dinner.

We did not expect that warm welcome when we arrived at Bush Camp (by Camp Kwando). The warden wasvery polite and helpful, provided us the firewood to heat up the shower in the evening and in the morning. The campsite is spacious and has water and electricity, spacious private ablutions and is very quiet.

We stayed over only one night and what a pleasure. The upmarket tent-on-stilts accommodation was very good with everything you need for non-self catering. Our unit looked down on to the narrow river 20mt away with good shade. There is no aircon as they are a "green" facility but a good fan is provided. The restaurant food for both breakfast and dinner was excellent and eating on the deck in the evening was 5 star.
There is a lovely grassed garden that was taking some strain during a very dry period, a pool and lounge chairs. Personally we found it to be above our budget as it is not cheap, but that was just our thoughts.

A highlight on our two-week tour! Camp Kwando is picturesquely located on the Kwando River and our well furnished tents (mosquito nets, ceiling fan) were right on the river, with a small wooden terrace right on the river with great views. We even had a "own" hippo right in front of our terrace, magical!

The lodge includes a nice little pool with some sunbeds and plenty of shade. In the afternoon the monkeys play here, so you have to keep an eye on your things!

Due to the drought, the water level in the river was very low so no boat trips were offered, but we booked a game drive in the nearby national park and that was really great, highly recommended.

The food was really big, which started every evening with delicious homemade rolls and then consisted of three excellent courses. The service was not only good, but simply warm and devoted. The lady of the house came to every table to make sure everything was fine. You could immediately see that her own warm and cordial manner radiated to the entire lodge with all the staff.

After dinner, rangers take you back to the tent because there is a hippo coming to the camp. Unfortunately, we only saw it in the water, but you can't have it all.

Conclusion: Fully recommended, you can hardly spend two nights at Caprivi more beautiful!

This is the best campsite in the Caprivi! Best service, best layout and location (Large Lapa with built-in braai, open-air toilet and shower, right on the Kwando river with a view), generator electricity in the mornings and evening, wifi during generator hours, donkey twice a day and near a village with a good general dealer and fuel station. The staff are amazing and make sure to go on a river safari while you stay there, it is well worth the cost. Do yourself a favour and camp here while you stay in the Caprivi.

We chose this campsite after the great stories we heard about the comfort of the campsite and the enthousiasm of Roxy! And it all did even outreach our expectations! The place is very nice and well maintained even it is still a true nature place but with all the comfort you could wish for. Your own toilet ansd warm showers and even the thunderstorm was ok while we had a roof above our cookingplace to enjoy dinner during rain! We had a great boattrip with Roxy and did some game drives on our own with the national park around the corner. We can highly recommend this campsite!

I can’t describe how much we loved our stay at Camp Kwando. From arrival we felt that our bush holiday was under way. We did the birding cruise and the owner himself took the time to share his knowledge of the area. We had a 7 and 6 year old with us and they loved every minute of the lodge and the staff were fantastic. The added bonus was the monkeys around so there was always action.
The rooms are individually decorated with a. Real eye for detail all around you.
Anke and her team in the kitchen outdid themselves every day with the meals being way above standard compared to other lodges in the area.
The Mudumu National Park in the Camp Kwando game drive vehicle was a treat and well worth it.
Michiel thank you for all the spoils and I can see your staff still has the appetite to ensure guests are happy.
We will be back I’m sure of it.

We booked the most expensive room/accommodation option. Unfortunately we were disappointed as the room was so dark and smelled strange, particularly from the toilet and animal skin rugs I think. There were nice touches in the room such as the decor but there was very little river view (despite being on the river) as the foliage had grown over it. The room didn't get much natural light or heat from the sun so was cold even in middle of the day. There are areas of the resort that need attention but overall it's a nice space. The food is nice in the restaurant but it felt like we were dining in a library as it was so quiet and lacked any atmosphere. Some African music in the background would improve this easily. For our stay we felt it was extremely over priced. Particularly as we had just come from Nunda River Lodge which was full of atmosphere, light, warmth, hugely welcoming and a half the price.

The deck area was really beautiful and cool in the very hot weather. The breakfast the next morning was delicious and the table setting was next to the deck railing close to the water. The little Bloubal monkeys was a treat and the sound of the fish eagle far away was amazing. The trees with the names on was lovely to see and the quavadilla growing so big with the camelthorn trees just a wow.....
The room was lovely and the shower amazing.

The let downs:

No Fridges in the tents
Shade on the deck of the chalets is inadequate, the sun is straight in your face when coming out of the tent. You cant park your vehicle at your chalets, make sure you bring only one bag.
No Fishing

We stayed only one night.

Marco N asked a question Sept 2019
Is there WLAN available ?
Answer from COE311AS
Hello Marco, Camp Kwando does not offer WIFI. We advise to buy a MTC Phone Card and the Databundle "awehgig" the cost for this would be +/- 60 NAD and is available at every MTC Store or at most Petrol Stations.
