what a terrible hotel.
it is not well maintained.
bathrooms are not cleaned; towels looks like they were used from the 1300's no longer white.
not a good value for money
the gate stand open.
other guest are soooo loud and even after reporting in reception the noise still continued.
furniture needs to be changed.
this hotel needs to be renovated and cleaned properly.

Although the room looked clean, there were not enough towels, coffee/tea etc. For a 4star they should have a hairdryer... but there was none. No duty manager on duty... drinks took more than half an hour and then they told us there was no ice!! Housekeeping knocked at our door to clean the room just after 7😠. Never again!!!!

This is one hotel I would like to avoid at all cost. I stayed here for only 3 days and it was extremely unpleasant. The room I had had a stench to it that just made to want to leave the place. The place were not neat and the bedding and towels were dirty. Me and my colleague both experienced the same things and we decided to take it up with management. The manager were very surprised with our concerns, but he took it on him to try and rectify the situation. Unfortunately the situation did not change and we decided to purchase our own towels as a result of the dirty towels of the hotel which also had a sour type of smell.

The food itself at breakfast looked old and we decided to rather use a restaurant for breakfast. Apart from the untidiness and dirtiness, trying to get any form of assistance in the evenings proved to be beyond any hope. There we no manager on duty after 18h00 and the staff that were there were not in anyway helpful at all. I was by no means surprised that the hotel had so few guests as I noticed that for the 3 days we sere there, I saw only about 3 other guests.

The location of the hotel is another concern. It is located in what seems as a more dangerous part of town. I know that many of my other colleagues that used this hotel in the past had themselves complaints about the place and our section decided not to use this place anymore.

Claiming to be four star this hotel would not qualify for 2 stars. The rooms are spacious but dark and dingy. No room service. No wifi, The food in the restaurant is buffet only, very poor. Salads are recycled food from previous day. Desserts are ice cream that has melted into runny liquid. Staff and service is non pathetic. They show no interest and make it seem like they doing you a favour. Avoid

I had thought I was not gonna write bad reviews like this, but when I get treated like this, I know that I had made a mistake with that decision. I have been made to feel that am being done a favour by being offered a service, I have never felt so unappreciated at a place where the only thing that works effectively is room air-conditioning! The rest is too traumatic to even describe. I had made a mistake, I will continue to write bad reviews when necessary and I will never set foot here again!

A complete dump! My colleagues and I were horrified to find stained carpets, dirty bathrooms and pungent smells eminating from our rooms. The hotel's interior is kitch and terribly uninviting. They have the audacity to charge R1300 per night. I felt like I needed a shower when I walked out of that place... Do yourself a favour and book into a guesthouse instead!

Possibly in the 1970s this was a great venue. It definitely has that aged feel to it.
But a coat of paint, fake flowers and the occasion new piece of refurbished furniture does not make the old new again.
And age is not a sign that something is dated, but when a vebue is tired, that resounds loudly, especially when customer service is not paramount.

My initial welcome was being told to wait as there was some or other issue around the booking and payment. Working for one of the largest groups in Southern Africa, I seriously doubt payment would be a problem. Yet the reception was adamanent I could not be served unless this was resolved upfront.

My most favourable comment about the room and bathroom would be that it was aged. (That's ignoring my comments about a damp smell, carpets that needed a good clean, and the dead crickets under the desk)

I risked breakfast the next morning...despite my better judgment....i should have not.... Let's just say it was edible.

Truthfully the Best part of my one and forever only stay at this location was leaving.

NO fridge, NO iron, NO wi-fi, bed sheets not ironed! Their "ultra modern" rooms are old, damaged and dirty. Had to buy Doom for mosquitos. Website photos are deceiving! Dont know how the dump can be a 4 star!!!!

Only read these reviews (lesson learned) after opting to drive back home to Jhb instead of overnighting at this establishment. Can now relate to many of the reviews..deceptive website and entrance, in the rooms encountered filthy carpets, stained bath and smelly room...and dubious bed linen. Came across a previous occupants pair of discarded panties behind the dresser while looking for missing airconditioner remote!!. Makes one wonder what other housekeeping was overlooked! Hence decision for a late night drive home instead of overnighting.

Their website says "if you want to stay in luxury and comfort take advantage of our freshly decorated rooms."

I obviously wasn't given one of these on my first trip to Welkom. The rooms were outdated and smelled stuffy, the shower head and bath taps were also old and required a manual to operate them. The buffet dinner was disappointing while at breakfast I had to ask for a filter coffee, which they had to brew.

The positive was that the staff were extremely pleasant and helpful.

As a sleepover it serves its purpose, but if you looking for "luxury and comfort" this is not it.
