Not a pleasant stay! The surroundings of the guest farm is beautiful. Too bad the facilities were unpleasant. Extremely hot cabins in summer. There is a fan, but not in working condition. Our cabin had no hand soap or toilet paper. No coffee or tea or kettle!? The shower was dirty and water smelled terrible. Huge spiders crawled out of drain openings and curtains were dusty. Bad experience.

I viewed many fishing accommodations around the Parys area and decided to go with Vaal De Sioleh. We stayed over this weekend. What an awesome venue. The hosts are super accommodating, Annalien and Marijke. The chalets are clean and situated on the river bank. I was very surprised to find an aircon in the chalet. This definitely is a resort to visit and has everything you require. Very comfortable chalets. I truly enjoyed our stay though the river was flowing very strong as the dam sluice gates are open. Fishing was a challenge, however we managed to catch a few fish which was a bonus. Thank you to the brilliant hosts, will definitely revisit

The smal (2 person) chalet was clean and attractive . Everything one needed for a weekend was available and not too far from town. Well grassed sites and pool were kept in good order and the braai facilities were cleaned early every morning. Definitely not just for fishing. The tranquility was amazing. It is worth visiting again.

Vaal de Sioleh is definitely an underrated fishing destination. My partner and I recently spent 4 days and 3 nights and throughly enjoyed ourselves. The 2 sleeper guest room was cozy and had everything we needed for the 2 of us. There is a mini kitchen area, a double bed, a small bathroom and plenty of storage. The cabins all have amazing views and are surrounded by lush green grass. My partner spent a lot of time fishing about 10 meters in front of our little cabin. He managed to catch almost 40 fish during the duration of our stay, of which 5 were over 10kgs. We had a pleasant and relaxing stay and were delighted with how good the fishing was!

We stayed over for one night recently to attend a wedding at a venue close to this resort. Upon booking we were told that it is only 1km away, which is was not, it was 4 km's on a very bad dirt road, which turned into a mudslide after it started raining. The towels were hard, might as well use the doormat! No complimentary soap or shampoo. No Coffee or tea and fish moths in the dishes. Torn deck chairs. Really not worth the money they charge.

Our stay at Vaal de Sioleh was very unpleasant. We stayed in the 8 sleeper log cabin which had a really bad smell and was not cleaned properly before our check-in. Bats in the walls kept us awake all night and the photos on the website was misleading. When we confronted reception about the problem they were aware of it, but did nothing about it which resulted in us checking out two nights earlier with no refund whatsoever. Extremely disappointed and would onot recommend this place to anyone.

We organised a Surprise 50th Wedding Anniversary party for my parents at Vaal De Sioleh. We could not have asked for a better place! Everything was organised by the owners and they went out of their way to accommodate all our needs. The Log Cabins where beautiful and clean. We were staying in 2slp Log Cabins close to the river, as well as 4slp Log Cabins next to the hall. They even went out of there way to organise tables and chairs and a braai drum, under the roof, close to the hall, to accommodate all the guests, when the weather changed and it started to rain. The pictures Hall with stunning view's of the river was clean and already set up exactly as I've ordered, so I could come in and just to the decor. I want to personally complement the food, this was the best food and menu, I have tasted in a long time. Even the guest was complementing the well prepared and mouthwatering food. Marijke, you and your team did very well and my parents and their guests can't stop talking about this gem next to the Vaal river and the lovely food and evening they had. Well Done.

We recently had a family function at this resort so I am certain I am speaking on behalf of the other 30 people that also attended the getaway and that spent time agreeing on the state of the resort. The wonderful location is destroyed by the lack of management at Vaal de Sioleh. On arrival my husband was greeted very abruptly which we chose to "brush off" and make the most of our evening sleep over. This was a mistake as things only got worse. The double story cabin was beautifully situated on the edge of the river and looked fantastic until we entered. The upstairs room smelt horrendous, urine of either mice or bat or perhaps both. Floors never swept clean, blankets and linen definitely not freshly cleaned for us either. A broken/cracked window left as is was also visible both upstairs and downstairs. Spider webs, cobwebs, dead insects and dust filled the floor space of the unit. I do not think any cleaning has taken place for years. We were unable to use the shower in the bathroom downstairs as it's floor was covered in rat droppings. Not one or two, but hundreds of it. Feeling rather shocked we took our children to the pool. Yes, the dirty pool that left my children wondering if the sludge under their toes were dead frogs or just gunk. Needless to say we packed up and decided to leave, money badly spent. Possibility of tranquility alongside the water destroyed by sheer lack of bad hospitality, not enough management and the need for serious cleaning and maintenance. What a Pity!

We recently stayed at Vaal de Sioleh. We definitely won’t recommend it to anyone. The sheets were to short, and dirty. We had to drive to town to get new ones. On arrival I noticed the bath mat were dirty and wet, so I assumed housekeeping forgot to change it, and will probably do it the next day, but they never came in the 4days we stayed there. There are one poor light in the living and kitchen area; it is so poor we had to move the bed lights to the living room to be able to see. The bed lights are in a very poor condition and needed adapters to work, which we had to go buy as well. They don’t give sufficient blankets; it is really cold next to the water. At least the view was nice.

We almost cancelled our trip because of the reviews on this website. Wed already paid so decided to grit our teeth and go ahead with it, and what an awesome weekend we had. We stayed in the Log Hut, it was warm, cosy, clean and perfectly situated. Koos was welcoming, extremely helpful and a pleasure to deal with. The fridge is a normal size, as is the oven, there was no sign of any bats or their droppings, everything was clean. There was sufficient clean bedding on all the beds, with extra blankets and heaters available as it was mid winter. I will definitely go back there, Im not sure why there are such bad reviews, if patrons are looking for five star accommodation, this is not the place for you. If you are looking for a cosy, clean, well situated log cabin, this is the place for you. Thanks so much for an awesome weekend.
