My husband, myself and our son visited this gorgeous place. We stayed in one of their newly renovated luxury tents and it was wonderful. The tent was very spacious even with our little ones cot that the Savannah staff kindly provided for us. Felt as though we were camping in luxury with the most comfortable bed with electric blankets and a divine shower. With the tented ceiling and walls, it was a pleasure to hear all the animals and creatures throughout the night but we were very warm and cozy. The tents are overlooking a dam that the animals come to drink at often that we watched from our private deck. We went on a game drive and our guide was so wonderful. He was very friendly and taught us so many interesting facts that we had never heard before. We could get so close to the buffalos, it was surreal. You could tell the animals were calm and at ease, and it was very very enjoyable. The food that we had for lunch on Saturday was delicious. My husband had the oxtail stew and I had the beef lasagne for lunch. The salads were fresh and the food was full of flavour. We loved the self catering option and on the Saturday night we used their wonderful braai facilities. It was such a special experience to have a braai in the open bushveld. The breakfast was eggs, bacon, toast, fried tomato and sausage. We were offered mushrooms too, but my husband and I declined. The staff were very friendly and helpful and never too far if we needed anything, but not hovering or in our faces. You can tell that they have recently renovated and upgraded a lot of their facilities as they look brand new. The road to the lodge is a dirt road that is well travelled, but definitely fine as we drove with a VW Polo and had no issues. To anyone that is expecting to find a game farm at the end of a tar road, I think you’re a bit misconceived about what a game farm is and should probably stick to a hotel. Overall, it was a truly relaxing and wonderful experience. We will definitely be back and cannot wait to be at Savannah again.

The luxury tent experience was fairly understated. We were not roughing it up at a camping site with a tent. But we did lack the luxury. The bathroom was different and unexpected. They were clean but very different. The resort is setup for couples so the tents are far apart and private. For this reason we did not see much of or interact with the staff. We had an amazing game drive on the property. The guide was educated about the animals and informative. Dinner was a basic braai with meat, salad and pap, while breakfast was eggs, bacon and sausage. The outside dining at the bon fire boma area was a disaster with insects attacking us and our food. Overall we had an average to good stay.

We stayed in a rondavel for privacy and peace. 2 tiny windows - no air. Really needs TLC. The restaurant is on stilts in the swamp. The real and only beauty is miles away by 4x4, inaccessible by ordinary vehicle, at the wedding venue with river frontage. The location is a huge mistake, they only reason they could possibly have not used the beautiful water front was that they extended an existing structure. Very basic! It seems that staff are only in attendance on weekends. The mosquitoes and frogs make good symphony. We didn't get a wink of sleep due to the hot airless hut.

Room Tip: tented camps are quieter - but they'd been blown away before we got there in a storm.

This place is a real gem if you are looking for a in the middle of nowhere escape not too far from the city. About 20 km out of Parys which is an awesome little town to explore and perhaps enjoy a drink or lunch at. Savannah Game lodge is an easy drive from town with a bit of dirt road which normal cars can travel. I preferred the bike. (Wink wink nod nod) which they allowed being a game farm. There is plenty animals o see on the game drive. Thanks to Chris and team. Then to my surprise supper on Saturday was a braai. Splendid but do come hungry as the T Bone steak is enough for a family. Well prepared. They are revamping and doing maintenance the property in so doing improvements and in light of that they will further improve on their offering of lodging etc. There is always room for improvement. As soon as they are done I will be back. With friends of course.

We attended a wedding at Savannah Game Lodge. Only just over an hour from Johannesburg you need to do a (decent) dirt road of +-4km. The accommodation is non self-catering in either raised ensuite tents (spacious) with a deck, 2 rondalwels or rooms in the lodge. We stayed in a rondawel that was very basic, clean and a comfortable large bed. The shower is small, the basin very small but no shelving to put your toiletries. No mirror in the bathroom and the bedroom was quite dark. Bedroom had a coffee station but no bar fridge. Breakfast was nice but basic scrambled eggs, bacon, tomato sausage and toast with coffee and juice. A bit of work required overall on the lodge but staff very friendly and willing to accommodate all requests. Venue for wedding is beautiful.
