Stayed here for one night on our trip to Parys. Grounds are really well maintained and accommodation felt very private. Very nice kitchen, ideal for self catering if you plan to stay for longer. Most of the town's amenities are within walking distance.

Only minor complaint would be that the place really stank of air freshener, there was a deobloc on the kitchen table when we arrived. I did solve the problem however by just putting the air freshener outside the door during our stay.

All and all excellent value and highly recommended.

We spent the weekend as a special birthday weekend away - perfect choice. Loved the proximity to town for some great gift and goodie shopping, and also within walking distance of some great eateries.
Martin was an absolute gracious host, keeping us entertained with stories of Green Gables, and, let him guess your star sign and all that goes with it! The one owner does all the art work for the cottages, and just adds to the general creativity of the "estate". The gardens are immaculate, and you feel like you are in a little spot of a Cape winery. Relax by the pool or in the garden, and there are many nooks you can find to sit and rest, and eat a casual meal (Green Gables does allow self-catering). We did not have breakfast there, so cannot comment, even though this is provided with prior notice. Generally the place was quiet and we rarely heard anyone else or saw anyone else. There is good security, and covered parking for your vehicle. The room was comfortably laid out, with enough space in the kitchen to prepare a light meal. We had comfy chairs to relax in, and the bed linen was superb. The room was serviced and clean white towels provided.
This is not a huge country estate, but very much guest cottages/guest house in a rural-type town, off the main town through road. However, it feels spacious, unobtrusive, and a quiet sanctuary to let all your city hustle 'n bustle melt away.
Very highly recommended. Do the self-catering thing, but take advantage of "Feast" in town for a Sunday brunch, or "O's Restaurant" for fab pizza by the river and the pub deck for a sundowner. I noted some other quite nice looking coffee shops to explore, and buy biltong in town (my partner says it was delicious).
For fine shopping visit Inge's, or enStyle. Antique shops abound - from trash to serious collectors items. Many gift and homemade goodie shops to keep you browsing for hours - leave hubby at the coffee shop.

The name may be a bit misleading, rather than a real country estate, this is a guest house in a rural town. It does have a lovely large garden and pool.

As opposed to the "modern" rooms mentioned in a previous review, our rooms and furniture probably dates from the 1950's. However, the rooms and furniture alike were in immaculate condition and spotlessly clean. Our self catering unit was very well equiped, but it does not include any dish washing machine or laundry equipment.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, and a problem with hot water was promptly resolved.

With a relaxing and quite atmosphere, it is a very good place to stay if you are happy with limited services.

I hugely recommend staying at Greengables Country Estate in Parys. Sublime setting and extremely relaxing. Close to all amenities and each unit is uniquely private. You honestly feel like the estate is exclusively yours.

Green Gable Country Estate has lots to offer. As you drive through the gates of the estate you are welcomed by Lush green gardens and a picturesque setting. Each unit has its own style and never ceases to disappoint. The beds are fitted with crisp white percale linen, and the self catering kitchen is equipped with everything you'll need for the weekend. There are braai facilities and a lovely swimming pool. Safe parking and great service from the owners. Thank you for the great stay, we will be back.

Me my husband and our son, his wife and my grandson spent one night in the Family Unit. it was very reasonably priced. I would not recommend it for longer if you are 4 grownups as only the main bedroom is private with a door. Perhaps seperate rooms for a longer stay. It's a beautiful place and we loved the lovely veranda and gardens! Safe parking and pool for cooling off like we did! We will definately stay there again and can recommend it any time.

After closing time I called around a few places, this place was the only one who answered. They were friendly, helpful, professional etc.

The room was decorated in a monochromatic style, I loved the pictures and feel of the room. Also the free parking was a nice addition. The room was better than most for which I have been charged five times the same amount.

The only reason I am not giving five out of five is that it is not on the river. Happy to recommend 😄

We stayed in this Guest House for a weekend en May 2012. What a fantastic place! The gardens are beautiful and immaculately kept. The location is very central, with very good security. The rooms are spacious, and the well laid out. There is a long counter where one can put one's suitcases. Coffee, Tea and bath amenities are provided. The room is well heated - the staff put them on if you are out at night. The owner is an artist. He hands-on and very much involved. The meteor rocks are stunning. We did not have breakfast - we opted for something in town. Will definitely recommend for everyone!

This is an ideal option if you are looking for overnight accommodation in Parys. The rooms are modern and spotlessly clean. The white linen and towels are always crisp and clean! The swimming pool is great for relaxing and catching a dip in summer. The rooms are heated on arrival in winter which is impressive. All in all a good, affordable option!

"Room #4 looked great with its own alcove, nearer the pool, but may be a little close to conference centre (so check if a conference first). The double storey near the big garden looked absolutely wonderful too Room #2 was our room, and was not really surrounded by any other rooms or people"
