My hubby and I were welcomed by our hosts Hester & Gerhard in a very friendly manner.

We found our room to be beautifully decorated, very clean & comfortable. All bedding and towels were nice and fresh, we really liked having our own mini bar fridge in our room.

On the grounds you can arrange to see the lovely gardens and little chapel.

The facilities includes a self-catering braai area with lovely couches and chairs to sit on for relaxation or socializing with friends and family, even if it rains.

It does have secure shade-net parking for peace of mind with CCTV cameras.

Hester was also kind enough to show me the 6 lovely decorated rooms with different themes from roses to butterflies and will go the extra mile to arrange your special occasion requirements.

This accommodation is perfectly situated in the heart of Parys and if your preference is to just park your car for your stay, shops and restaurants such as Hoi Poloi or O’s Restaurant to mention just two, are within s few minutes walk.

Rose Acres is also a perfect and comfortable stay over if you are in town for a couple of nights.

Rose Acres and our hosts could not have been better. The layout of the rooms makes it perfect to be there on your own or with a group and still have your own privacy. The beds were definitely of the most comfortable that we have slept on at a guesthouse. The bathroom and especially the large shower were also a plus. Location was perfect; we walked to Os and Hoi Paloi restaraunts for dinner on both evenings. We would recommend Rose Acres to anybody and visit there ourselves again too.

The first thing I noticed when we arrived was how warm and welcoming Hester was. She immediately made us feel comfortable and kindly lent me her umbrella as we had experienced unexpected rain.
Her husband was equally welcoming and offered advice on fishing spots.
The overall guest house is beautiful and cosy. The room was lovely spacious and well equipped. I love the close proximity of the guest house to the main street and restaurants in Parys.

We had a pleasant stay and would definitely recommend Rose Acres Guest House.

The sheets, electric blanket and ample towels of good quality is welcomed.
The hostess was accommodating although our time of arrival was earlier than arranged.
The location is conveniently close to the harbor and exactly what we were looking for. The interior decorating is tastefully done and the appliances of high quality and in working order. Thank you.

Hi Hester, As per my feedback to you, the room was a bit dusty, the toilet would not stop running, and the shower overflowed; and would have liked to have a tv/screen- I assumed the family room would have one. Other than that loved the French décor theme, and small touches (rusks, tea selection, coffee sample, milk, make up towel, coat rack, recommendations) and had a really great time as your establishment is walking distance from town. Wi-Fi is great. Would be great to bring my book club as your set up is perfect for a small group

Considering the price and photos, the accommodation was not as expected. Shower, basin taps and bathroom door are not of good standard. Room 7 did not have a microwave or hairdryer, as stated in amenity list. The allocated parking was very small if another car is parked in neighboring carpark. We were unfortunately not very happy with the price for what you get.

Underpants from previous occupants under the newly acquired single bed. (my grandson being bitten to pieces and having to consult a doctor because of bites in this bed). The inconvenience of a leaking roof making the floor wet and slippery for any person to fall and have an accident, which too resulted in water dripping through the ceiling wetting the duvet. Having checked in and then having to ask for towels for one of the rooms after a flight delay, is also unacceptable (again referencing the lack of servicing of this establishment and the lack of housekeeping). Being handed one towel for a room, firstly is odd, and a dirty one with a make- up mark on it is shocking, especially as this establishment has been operating since June. My husband brought the one towel to our room, ( we occupied 3 rooms as a family) he gave our daughter a towel from our room and he used the dirty one. Surely by now the cleanliness and hygiene should be a priority, clearly it is not. All these issues are highly inconvenient to a paying traveller. Sleeping with bright lights on all night and having no curtains or blinds, no through draught from tiny fanlight windows in the room, (could not open the window as the man next door stood directly there smoking in the early hours of Saturday morning), people talking late at night outside the small window that is used to get some air into the room, no window to look out of to identify the noise going on outside in the middle of the night as all the window glass is white.Tea bags that have been handled by all and sundry as no tea bags wrappers, a light fitting hanging down that we knocked our heads on repeatedly which could cause personal injury. No toilet or bathroom doors , people and children, waking up to their spouse or parent’s bowel habits. Dogs barking endlessly. This was not a pleasant experience at all. I am not surprised they ask for balance of payment the minute people step foot on the property.

We saw this guesthouse on the internet and decided to stay one night. This guesthouse is situated near the major routes and within walking distance from a large variety of shops and good restaurants. We stayed in room 1 the closest to the parking. There was secure onsite parking. The rooms are self-catering, but no microwave oven was supplied, with an open plan bathroom with only a shower. Each room is inter leading to the patio garden. The room had a king-size bed, fridge and coffee station with coffee, tea and milk. There was no TV in the room. We were spoiled with ruskes and chocolates that we could enjoy. It was our anniversary and the owner remembered and congratulated us and put a rose in our room, we thought it was a nice touch. The owner went through a lot of trouble to make us a dinner reservation since it was our anniversary, but be aware all well-known restaurants are closed on a Monday and Tuesday evening in Parys. That was a disappointment to us. No hairdryer was in the room. My wife did asked for one and it was brought to late the next morning to be used. One other problem was the security lights that was shining in the room the whole night. In front of our room there was a JO-JO water tank and the pump went of every few minutes. That was very disturbing. Hester was very accommodating with us, regarding our little dog although, they were not pet friendly she allowed him, we really appreciated it. Nice guesthouse maybe you need to book a room further from the entrance. No credit cards facility.

Response from Hester V, Owner at Rose Acres Guest House
Responded 21 Mar 2018
Dear Mr & Mrs Vorster Apologies for responding this late. I would like to update you on a view changes made since you were here. Firstly we are not a self-catering guest house, it is room only. We fitted the room with block-out curtains to minimize the light problem in the room. We do switch off the Jo-Jo tank pump in the evenings to reduce the sound of the pump. Now we do have credit/debit card facilities. Thank you for your stay.

We were a group of 9 and we not only enjoyed visiting the shops in Parys (which were iwithin walking distance), but also used the communal area tobrelax and catch up. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hosts are friendly and patient.
