This place is horrible and you can see the desperation from their workers. They employees are good but the actual company is not good and not treating employees well. They make employees work double shift more than 14 hours and pay them R3000…overworking results in poor service. I wouldn’t recommend anyone go to this place.. this place is braking a lot of employment acts and will be under investigation soon

Stunning venue but service, food and staff a let down. I have been here a couple of times and even though the venue is outstanding the room service, restaurants, and mainly the food are very disappointing, every time. Such a pity It had huge potential!

I would stay away from this place . The service is quite horrendous and there are thieves. They call you multiple times to arrange a reservation at the restaurant, and that’s about where the service ends . We stayed at the villa - the cleaners never came at a suitable time. We were out in the day - only to come back to a dirty unit and then called for cleaning around 4pm. The unit does not have the basic cutlery and crockery . No bowls , plastic, not enough glasses. Don’t even think about a tin opener or a cork screw ! The worst part about the experience was that credit cards were taken from my bag and my husband’s leather jacket was stolen. He left it at the unit and 30 minutes after leaving , we called to report this (saying that we will arrange for the jacket to be picked up ),but they claim there was nothing there. We literally just left there , so it was clearly stolen. I have opened a police case as this needs to stopped before happening to other occupants . It’s been almost two weeks and I am still waiting for management to give me a call. The place has so much potential, but there is a massive lack of service and worst of all your belongings are not safe!

Great atmosphere, loved the apartment and its beautiful surroundings..the lake, the green and the green space. Our bed was comfortable, but sadly our kids single beds were very hard. We had to let the kids sleep in our bed and took the single beds for the rest of the two nights.

The lady at the wine tasting was working alone in a very busy day, she had to call someoneto help after we waited a while....Easter Sunday was a terrible experience...People were queuing to eat for at least 45 min/ 1 hour..I even ended up giving up because there were people still in front of me...for the people who ate; the food was raw...really bad...we then went to the other side/ restaurant..where we waited for 2 hours and there were no Waiters available ....we ended up booking for a restaurant in jhb.. It was a terrible experience , especially when you have kids expecting to have a great Easter experience...we wasted money for a Sunday lunch that we did not have...we hope to at least get a refund. We asked for the manager who was nowhere to be found

Check in only at 3pm, told we will get a call when room is ready. We had to go back to reception at 3:30 to check what’s happening, receptionist thought it was funny when told we’ve been waiting for her call. Three nights not one appetising meal. I travelled with teen boys who are not fussy eaters but even they couldn’t stomach the food. We drove to Woolworths in Vanderbijlpark to stock up on food. Room was dirty with spider webs all over inside and out. Couldn’t even use patio as it was not clean. Booked an Easter lunch and could only eat starter and nothing else. Food was disgusting, money down the drain. Spent the afternoon listening to people complaining and disappointed as I was. A beautiful establishment lacking in everything from staff shortage, to management and general creativity to make it an establishment of choice.

We arrived to a place that was not ready for us to check in. The place was dirty and they were busy cleaning. I thought when we were allowed to enter the house it will be clean but no we had to advise the housekeepers on what to do. The pool was dirty and could not be used. We asked if the pool might be cleaned but we we’re promised the next day and it never happened till we checked out. The lady who was doing the housekeeping in the morning was not bothered to clean. She just wiped where she could and ignored everything else. They have beautiful grounds but definitely will not going back to that place again. What a shame it’s a beautiful place but they don’t care. Overall poor service.

WORST GUEST/CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE EVER!!! Booked through the Pont de Val booking website. Stated that we are staying over as 2 adults + 2 kids. Check-in clerk confirmed that all in order after walking us to the room. When requesting further bedding/towels, that’s when the nightmare began. It seems that there’s no correlation between their systems and hotel staff - together with mixed messaging from different individuals at the hotel. Upon booking on their website, it allowed for complimentary breakfast for 4 (on our booking confirmation), however when seated for breakfast, the waiter mentions that we “may” have to pay for 2 x breakfasts. We then confirmed that we have complimentary breakfast for 4 included in our booking so the 2 x breakfasts in question would be included. Thereafter no one approached us to explain any different. Service at breakfast was appalling to say the least, we waited 10min and no one even approached us. I had to go to the counter and ask someone for menus and for someone to assist us. Drinks arrived after 20min (2 canned juices & 2 cappuccinos) and food arriving 35min after ordering (restaurant was not busy at all, 3 tables max including ours) and even the manager on duty said that she would rush them up in the kitchen due to the wait time we had experienced. As we were about to leave breakfast, the waiter comes to us and requests payment for the 2 x breakfasts. We then proceed to the manager to explain that we had booked for 4 and therefore would receive 4 complimentary breakfasts - which was eventually resolved as the manager acknowledged the issue and said that we could leave. Shortly thereafter, as we were packing our car to leave the hotel, the waiter comes running to my husband to request payment, which we explained had been discussed already and that it was resolved. He then proceeds to say that even though the one manager said it was resolved, another manager had approached him and ordered that he come to request payment from us. On check-out, another manager said that they could not allow us to leave until we paid for the 2 x breakfasts. I explained everything to her again (this was now the 3rd time I had to do this), again there was lots of confusion which I clarified for her. Ultimately there was an issue with THEIR booking website which they acknowledged, however still insistent on exploiting us, their guests. There is no concept or awareness of customer service and guest experience whatsoever from the staff throughout the hotel. In general, the staff were rude and short (I am only mentioning the absolute low points here), with the exception of the main restaurant, where Nelson our waiter was very pleasant and attentive at dinner last night. Many others could learn a thing or 2 from him. The last manager that I spoke to at check-out was busy complaining about us to someone on the phone, not realising that we were still within ear-shot, that’s how unaware they are or maybe they just don’t care?!!! An exceptionally beautiful property, completely let down by their appalling service. This was heartbreaking for me as we had booked this stay for my birthday which was yesterday. We have stayed in many hotels and resorts across the world (guilty of not posting enough reviews I know) and have never been treated this way before, it was shocking and I cannot in good conscious, recommend this property to anyone. I plead with the general manager to contact me, there is much that needs fixing at your beautiful establishment (mostly staff attitudes).

This was a disappointment overall. The spa is beautiful and clean, however the beds are short, our feet were hanging at the end of the bed. My treatment was rather disappointing - it was such a waste of money. Then you can Only get 1 bottle of water as they have counter stock - allocation of one 330ml bottle per client. We then asked for coffee - then we’re told because we had water we can’t have coffee. Wouldn’t recommend it and definitely not going back.

I booked the apartments for the weekend mistakenly thinking I can have a quiet relaxing weekend. But nope! Very disappointed with the place. First apartment I went into, I did not like and asked for a change to get the river facing one. From the broken (torn doormat) I should have known what was waiting for me inside. Dirty cushions, not so fresh smelling room or towels, lack of sound proofing (my neighbours could have as well been in my living room) or the 9 am sounds and noises and loud cleaners talking very loudly amongst themselves. Poor quality furniture, carpets the list goes on. It’s more suitable to probably young students who may not mind this, not a getaway for a weekend. Poor check in services had to look for someone to check me in. I paid for two nights and left after one did not even bother to ask for a refund for my early checkout. The one bright spot is the restaurant at the hotel side. That really had great fresh tasting food. That said I will not be back.
