We stayed at Melidoni X for eight days towards the end of August and loved every minute of it. It was our second time at Melidoni, as we came last year, and just knew we had to return! Due to Covid, we originally thought our holiday would be cancelled, and were obviously a bit concerned about the safety measures that would be in place when we arrived. We didn’t need to worry, as a few weeks before, Mareike emailed to outline all of the new cleaning and safety measures they had now put in place. That was very reassuring and I can honestly say we felt safer there than at home. The villas are self contained, and Giorgos is scrupulous about wearing his mask and cleaning down the restaurant tables and furniture. They really couldn’t have done any more. We ate in the restaurant quite often and can only wonder at the standard for such a small customer base. My husband still dreams about the Soutsoukakia with mash ( Greek Meatballs), and the Pizza, pasta and pasticcio were also delicious. I hope we can return next year! This is a lovely little cluster of villas in a beautiful gated garden just outside the village of Melidoni, with a wonderful view across the valley. Each house has its own swimming pool, which is a decent size, comfy sunbeds and an outside eating area. Our villa had a double bedroom downstairs and a second double bed on a mezzanine level with its own sun terrace. This would be the perfect spot for a several families to rent, each with their own space but within 15 minutes’ drive of several lovely beaches. The 3* rating seems correct but the location and helpfulness of Georgios, the owner, make up for any lack of small luxuries. Breakfast is a la carte, served on a terrace overlooking the view, and was local and delicious. We also ate dinner there a couple of times, cooked by Georgios’ mother, and the food was excellent. It would seem that many guests return year after year and it’s easy to see why.

We had a fantastic time at Melidoni X, Georgios the host is a real professional and the whole experience was very polished and close to flawless. The villas are beautiful traditional stone buildings with their own veranda/terrace and private pool. The decor is simple traditional Greek and is spotlessly clean. The grounds surrounding the villas are stunning established gardens which give complete privacy between the 5 villas. The villas all have access to the on site restaurant which serves breakfast and dinner. The food and service is first class and probably the best we experienced in Crete and to top it off the prices are very reasonable and the views’ amazing.

Let me start by saying, the house and the whole property are absolute lovely. The host Georgios is incredibly nice and gives his best to make your holiday as wonderful and pleasant as possible.
The house, the pool and the whole property (five houses and a small bar/restaurant area are located here) are in top condition, very well maintained and super clean. Even with the not ideal conditions caused by Corona, we did not lacked anything and Georgios did his best to welcome us as his guests and to let us have a really good time.
The optional food in the small restaurant onsite was very tasty and is highly recommended by us.
The location of Melidoni X Village is beautiful: a little outside the little village Melidoni you have a view on the Ida Mountains with the highest point in Crete called Psiloritis. You are at the beautiful beach of Bali (Evita Bay is highly recommended here) in about 15 to 20 minutes by car.
It was a lovely and relaxed vacation for us. Thanks a lot once more!

We stayed here for 4 nights and fell in love with the room, people and atmosphere. The Villa was a perfect size and had everything we needed. We loved having a private pool and outside area to eat, relax and just hang out. The owners were very friendly and thought of everything. We arrived late due to the ferry and they provided us with a cold meal in our villa we could eat whenever we got in as the grocery stores and restaurant on property had already closed. The villas are far enough away and they have beautiful plants that make it seem like you are the only people around. The view from the room was stunning. They have gated parking so you always felt safe and secure. The owners make you feel like family and are willing to help with anything they can. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a quiet, peaceful and overall perfect getaway.

An amazing spot in in the hills. Each villa has its own pool and they are completely secluded from each other, and have lovely views across the valley. Georgios is an amazing host. Make sure you try the local pancakes for breakfast they are lovely, but you need to be hungry. We looking forward to coming back

We loved our stay and didn’t want to leave. The villa was spotless, comfortable and peaceful. The site is set out so that you cannot see the other villas. All you can hear are the goat bells! Breakfast was available at the main building and was freshly prepared with plenty of choice. Would definitely recommend and are looking forward to returning.

Booking with Melidoni X Village for us came with huge disappointment! We booked for a week at 120 € a night and received a booking confirmation. Obviously we then planned ahead, with flights etc., only to got told a day later “our prices have an error … Within the nights you have booked the price is 170 €” . Then communication then stopped, no support whatsoever to solve the situation. We even offered a compromise but no reaction, leaving us in limbo where to stay. That is a totally unacceptable behaviour, at least we expect communication! Unfortunately a very bad experience and treatment by the host!!

Our villa was lovely, very clean and tidy. Idyllic hideaway in the mountains but not far from local amenities. Georgios was a great host and was always on hand should we have needed anything. Breakfast was really good with an extensive menu to choose from. As mentioned in previous reviews, Georgios's beautiful grey cat joined us most days :) Lovely family break with beautiful views of the mountains. The Melidoni Caves and Reptisland are well worth a visit (all within walking distance). Would highly recommend and we will definitely be back next year!

We went in July/august and it was our second visit, first time was in one of the one bedroom villas, as our children were smaller. This time we had a 2 bedroom villa and both experiences were amazing . Georgios was the perfect host and our friend Stavros the taxi! It was a stunning location and breakfast was amazing ! They cared so much , one day we left early on an excursion , and George was worried about us as he hasn’t seen us at breakfast , he contacted our taxi driver to check we were safe . I really do feel like it is our second home. Look forward to returning next year fingers crossed . Thank you . X
