KONTOKALI BAY RESORT & SPA is a 5* Hotel-Bungalow complex on the central eastern shoreline of the emerald Isle of Corfu, situated only 6 kms. from the island’s capital, Corfu Town. Built on a densely wooded peninsula and on a natural incline, the main building of the Kontokali Bay overlooks both the sparkling blue waters of the Ionian Sea that separates Corfu from the taupe, coastal mountains of the Greek mainland and the Gouvia Marina.

Kontokali Bay Resort and Spa is celebrated for its elegant atmosphere and tranquil setting, complete with romantic dining options, although certain areas could use some modernization. The staff's friendliness, professionalism, and attentiveness have garnered high praise, contributing to the hotel's reputation for exceptional service. Guests are enchanted by the stunning views and serene private beaches afforded by the hotel's advantageous location.
Cleanliness is another high point, with meticulous upkeep evident throughout. Room comfort is acknowledged, despite some suggestions for updates. While the amenities, including the spa, pool, and private beaches, are often lauded, guests' views on value vary, with some considering it reasonable and others pointing to high costs.

Hotel's Favourite
We stopped at this Hotel on 16th October 2023 for 7-night’s stay organized by Jet2.
The room was large, clean, modern and quiet we had a one overlooking the gardens and onward to the marina, the room had a veranda with table and chairs which we enjoyed, the room also had an ironing board and safe.
We did like the complement bus laid on by the hotel daily at 9:30am to take you into Corfu Town if you fancied a exploring the town and castles.
The Food was amazing but what made it that extra bit special was the attentiveness and friendliness of all the waiting staff.
Breakfast was very good and catered for everyone I think, and once again the staff were always very attenuative, getting my wife double expresso every morning.
The gardens and beach area was well kept and although we went in October there was never any problem getting a sunbed.
We went half board, we did eat out a couple of nights, the Telesilla Hotel Restaurant is excellent just a short walk from the hotel.
If I had to single out one thing about this Hotel it has to be the helpfulness of the staff, from arriving the porter and the reception staff who really went out of there way to help us with directions and information that made our stay very enjoyable
Big thank you to all from my Wife and Myself

We ended up staying here after our holidays to Spain and Portugal were cancelled and we had a great time, it is in an amazing location on a beautiful beach 15 mins from the airport (25€ in a taxi) and very surprised about some of the negative reviews.
We were in a garden view bungalow which had a view over to the marina and sunset, the balconies are private so you don't see your neighbours, the bathroom and bedroom were a good size with a comfortable bed and fridge. Not sure why some people have said their rooms were dark and dated ours wasn't. Our towels and dressing gowns were soft and smelt lovely and the rooms were cleaned every day. Nice powerful shower.
The beaches are beautiful with plenty of comfy sunbeds and nice clear, calm water. Showers when you get of the sea and beach towels supplied every day, it clearly says on the beach towel hut what it's opening times are. There is also a lovely pool with amazing views over the sea and you can see corfu town from the hotel. You can order food and drinks to your sunbed by using the app.
We had breakfast at the marina bar most mornings, there is plenty of hand sanitiser stations all around and the staff serve you in the buffet. I did see someone's review moaning about people touching the orange juice jugs, but there is an antibac station next to it, that is what it is there for! It does all the usual breakfast food. We ate at the marina a couple of days for lunch and it was great, had swordfish, pork kebab, gyros, it was all delicious and not too expensive. The drinks were expensive though €5.50 for a pint, €3.50 for a soft drink, €7 for a milkshake and the worst pint colada ever for €12, was straight out of a bottle very disappointing. They were the only negatives.
Next to the hotel is a beach bar and drinks are cheaper and does good food with a beautiful view.
Kontokali is a 10 minute walk away and there is a great little bar called the Wonky Donkey if you want any English footie. George's over the road does a great gyros.
There is also Gouvia marina which a 15 minute walk or €10 cab and Gouvia town €12 cab.
Corfu town is €20 cab, we had a lovely evening wondering around the streets and had a great meal and cocktails at Liston on the main street.

Our stay at Kontokali Bay in the last week of September was faultless. We stayed bed and breakfast, and the restaurant was well run and breakfast options good. Hand sanitiser stations were located everywhere around the hotel, and the place was spotless - all communal areas and rooms. The staff were friendly and accommodating, and allowed us to have a late checkout (free of charge)on our last day as our flight was in the evening. There are lots of cats around the island, and around the hotel, which we liked and enjoyed feeding. We caught the bus from the stop at the bottom of the road most evenings so we could have access to a wide selection of restaurants in Corfu old town (just 15 mins away on the bus, which is 2 euros 30 one way but 20 euros by taxi!) but there are some great options locally. Tabepna at the bottom of the hotel entrance road served great food - we ate here most lunchtimes, and Kontokali Village is around a 10 min walk and has a good selection of restaurants (probably 4-5). We also caught the bus in the opposite direction up to Ipsos. We didn't really like Ipsos but it was good to see another resort. We also hired a boat from the hotel pier and cruised along the stunning coastline of the emerald isle. We wouldn't hesitate to go back to Kontokali Bay. We got a few mozzie bites, but bought some repellent from a local pharmacy which seemed to work well (better than the stuff we took).

Can only score this hotel a 4 star at the most, although I would give it 5 star for the location only.
Best part was the private beaches, there was always some spare sunbeds which were comfortable despite being busy, towels changed daily and free. Lovely sandy beaches with clear, warm shallow water great for swimming and children. The pool area was nice but not lots of sunbeds!!
I did not see anyone wiping the sunbeds down following use although they may have been washed daily. I went on holiday with 2 grandchildren as a single grandparent.
We were upgraded to a family room, it was ok, quite dark and old fashioned but it was cleaned daily, it had doors in between 2 rooms which was handy. It overlooked the front of the hotel, the balcony only had 2 chairs, you could just about see the marina in the distance. The corridor leading to the rooms was a bit shabby and there was always a bit of a funny smell, not sure what this was. The balcony got the sun in the afternoon and evening. Air conditioning worked fine and bed was quite comfortable.
The thing I did not like about the hotel was the food, I actually only enjoyed 1 meal during the whole stay, we ate in the Horizon main restaurant most of the time as we were half board, overall I felt the majority of the waiters were very miserable, every morning having to ask for toast and then other things made you feel a bit uncomfortable, the atmosphere was poor, old fashioned and it was difficult to see the food that was covered, some nights I struggled to find anything that was good.
I would only give the food a 3 star rating!! We did dine a the parea on the beach restaurant 1 evening, I had a seafood salad which was very poor, the main ingredient was lettuce covered in seafood sauce, there were small bits of smoked salmon and literally 1 prawn!!! Had lunch once at the marina restaurant, I had salmon, that was okay but service slow. We went on the Dimitris boat trip with Spiros which was excellent, this lasted 4 hours, the children both loved it, especially getting off the boat for a swim. Mosquitos were a nuisance in the evening, so difficult sitting out. Entertainment was sparse, nothing really for children at all so evenings were a bit boring. We walked to the Gouvia Marina one evening but not much going on there either. I would probably not return to the hotel for the one reason Poor food!!

+1
We have just returned after staying for ten nights and loved every minute. Felt perfectly safe from the moment of arriving until leaving. Lovely gift in our room which we received a free upgrade of a sea view was a pack containing hand sanitiser, wipes, gloves and masks, we used the wipes to wipe down the sun beds every morning on the beach. Two lovely private beaches with access to plenty of sun beds, which were still mostly empty at 11:00 so no need to do the early morning dash. Food in the hotel was lovely, staff attentive and assist in serving you due to COVID-19. Only gripe was the deserts which we felt were under par for a 5 star. All the hotel staff were helpful and welcoming but I must single out Angelos in the restaurant, he looked after us every morning and evening and is a credit to this hotel. I have read reviews stating this is not a 5 star I would say it is based on the location, facilities and the service and hospitality from the wonderful staff who work there. Can’t wait to return next year for a second visit.

We don’t tend to do many organised holidays but when we do they have usually been well organised and enjoyable. However from start to finish this break was really amazing. Never having flown with Jet 2 before who were also the tour operator we were very impressed with the operation and staff. Arriving at the Kontokali resort was flawless and just got better throughout the week. The whole hotel was spotless and well Covid managed plenty of sunbeds on the beach and you could get round the pool without too much trouble. Drinks are served to your sunbeds promptly and a special thanks to Eva who ensured we were kept supplied with food and drink. The restaurants offer a nice variety of options and we utilised the Natalie beach bar which is just outside the hotel grounds next to the large beach which was a super friendly option for lunch and dinner. The staff in the hotel are great and nothing appeared to be too much trouble. We had a room with a small private pool which was a nice secluded spot at times but we spent most of the week on the beach just glad to be away on holiday. This was a great place to stay and without doubt we will be back for more of the same and also to explore the area. Only 20 mins from the airport and has 4 decent places to eat within an easy walk that we knew of. It is more expensive option but well worth it.

Spent a week in this hotel, in July 2020 - family with 2 kids, 16 and 10.
We loved our stay here and we wish we could stay more! The hotel is very nice, very cozy, sparkling clean. Not very big - which gives a very nice feeling. The two beaches are beautiful (sand beaches both), the swimming pool is great.
While the room is not very big, it is well designed and equipped (also, it seems it was refurbished recently).
The hotel staff makes incredible efforts to keep the hotel Covid safe - and we felt safe and well treated. There are clear Covid measures in place, which are presented to you upon the arrival (regarding room cleaning, breakfast rules etc).
Service was very nice, everyone was very considerate and polite.
There was nothing to complain about.
We recommend this place as a very nice vacation destination.

This hotel is a handy 15 minute drive into Corfu old town, so perfect for exploring or if you want to eat out. It's also a 15/20 minute walk into Kontokali Bay Marina where there are a few options to eat from as well.
This is a fairly large hotel spread over the beautifully maintained grounds with a few different beach areas. The beach umbrella's have a button you can call for service which I thought was brilliant!
The rooms were clean but quite basic, not what I'd expect from a 5 star hotel. However, it had everything we needed and we didn't spend much time in the hotel anyway!

Starting with the positives, the beach and decking area are absolutely lovely and really the only 5* element of this hotel.
Rooms are basic, more like 3* but are well cleaned everyday.
Breakfast isn't great and I did not feel that the food was fresh, so we stuck to omelettes everyday. The staff serve you your food, but you can help yourself to drinks and condiments which defeats the object.
A massive part of 5* hotels is the service and it was lacking here, staff are pleasant enough but distant. When we arrived we had no idea where we were going and weren't showed to a table for dinner, just left to it.
Biggest issue at this hotel is WASTE! Rather than serving drinks in glasses and lunchtime food on plates and collecting them when done, everything is served in disposals which you clear away yourself.
We almost booked half board for an extra £500, but so glad we didn't, we were put off the food after the first night in the buffet restaurant and the food is Corfu town is fantastic and cheap!
In summary if you've been lucky enough to experience real 5*, this will not compare.

A good resort hotel with it’s close proximity to the amazing Corfu town being an added bonus.
We spent most of our evenings in the old town with its plethora of great restaurants and shops.
Staff 5/5
Very friendly and helpful
Location 5/5
As stated already, an ideal location. It’s in a small bay with not many restaurants and bars however it’s a resort therefore has it’s own bars. A 10 minute bus or taxi journey takes you into the great Corfu old town. The Durrells was filmed next door with the cast staying here whilst filming.
Food 3/5
Can only comment on the breakfast but it was average. Catering for the masses with very little freshly served food. Scrambled eggs are rubbery, cold and placed in a hot plate. The brekkie at the poolside restaurant offer fresh omelettes which was nice.
We ate out every night in Corfu town. There are small restaurants nearby and at the harbour but after having drinks there we thought the old town was far us.
Facilities 4/5
Pool was great, as was the beach. Numerous facilities shut due to Covid such as pool table, volleyball and gym which is understandable.
Room 5/5
Scored this higher as we had a small private pool. These Rooms are located at the back of the hotel facing the car park but shielded by trees. You got the sun from 12 pm as it was south facing.
A small tip would be to get the local no. 7 bus at the end of the road - 10 minute walk - for only £4 return p/p. On the bus timetable from reception, add on 20 minutes to the departure time as the stated time is when it leaves Ipsos. Coming back from the town the bus leaves sharpish but it’s a regular 1/2 hour service. Also buy your return ticket at the Corfu old town bus station and you will save more. The taxi can be 25 euros one way.
Summary I highly recommend staying here and felt safe in the current Covid climate.

Hi, most of the rooms have walk-in showers. You can note on your reservation that you would prefer one.
There is no loud music anywhere but Bungalow rooms tend to be more isolated. Please have a look for Sea View Bungalows or Sea Front in the Main Building.
Hi, all the pool rooms are more or less the same, other than location. Main building rooms get all the afternoon sun, while some of the bungalow pools get more morning sun. Most photos on the website are taken very early in the morning.
Hi Armanda! Of course if you book b&b you can have lunch or dinner in any one of our 4 restaurants, not just the buffet. You can have a look at our website (on gastronomy) to see what's on offer and there are also last season's sample menus available. There is also the Horizon Mediterranean Buffet for dinner with a huge selection (45E per person) and the Marina Food Court for lunch with its grill section (from 16E per main course) which is much loved by guests. Hope to see you this summer!
Hi Leanne, the hotel has a supervised Mini Club, with its own children pool, playground, games and activities. Daily from 10.00-18.00. From June through September we also host a weekly Kids Party, with music, funny games and clowns/entertainers.
