We stayed at the sunrise suites for a week mid September, we had the best time and cannot fault one single thing! All the staff were amazing and could not do enough for us, we were self catering but ate breakfast at the sunrise a few times which was lovely, we also had some evening meals which were exceptional!! Without a doubt we would rebook and will be doing so at some point in the future, big shout out to George, he couldn’t do enough for us, very efficient and brilliant at his job!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️if you are looking for all of the above plus rooms that are clean with a fabulous sea view and quiet on an evening then the Sunrise is for you. We travelled as a couple staying for 10 nights in early September 2020. Our room was on the ground floor 103 was basic but more than adequate for our needs. Safe and air conditioning plus strong WiFi included which is a nice touch. Rooms were cleaned everyday and sheets/towels changed most days. Complimentary toiletries and hair dryer was also very nice. As for the hotel itself, it sits on a hill with fantastic views of the village and sea which is lovely to wake up to with the added bonus of no noise. Pool area was excellent and clean and snacks/drinks available all day at very reasonable prices and large portions too. Thanks to Katerina, Sofia and Maria for making our stay one the best holidays we have had. Nothing is too much trouble and they genuinely care about their guests which is rare. As we holidayed during the Covid period we felt safer here than home as staff both at the hotel and in the village were meticulous about sanitising and mask wearing. Although due to the current situation the area was very quiet which suited us, we think normally the whole place would be much busier. We cannot find anything negative to say about our stay and look forward to coming back next year. Thanks again Sunrise suites, we will be back. Andy & Lorraine Rugman.

The best place we have stayed in Crete. Perfect service, funny, kind and friendly. Huge and fully equipped rooms, with fridge, kitchenette and hairdryer. A safe in the closet is included, and the key is on the bundle to the room. All clean and beautiful. Perfect pool with service at the bar. The terrace overlooks the beach and the sea, which is just down the hill. I highly recommend paying a little extra and taking advantage of this accommodation, the reward will be peace and great space even in the smallest room of the hotel.

We stayed at Sunrise Suites for our honeymoon and had a great ten days. We had a double room with a side view and a small kitchenette. We checked in via WhatsApp as we arrived in the evening and it was easy enough to do so. The room had everything we needed, the kitchenette had a two ring hob, a fridge/freezer, kettle, coffee maker and sink, as well as plates, cutlery and pans.
The hotel served breakfast as an optional extra but we didn't have any. There was a nice sized pool and our balcony had the sun in the mornings-late afternoon. The room had aircon but we didn't use it due to the cool early May evenings.
There were spaces to park a car but we used the local bus service which runs from Kalyves Junction and there is a bus to both Chania and Heraklion, email the bus company (KTE) to be sent the bus timetable and it's easy enough to work out, the buses are very cheap.
Kalyves is a lovely village/small town and Mistrali is a wonderful restaurant and they're very welcoming.

Our first time abroad as a couple and this was truly an exceptional experience, the hotel itself has amazing views and is very well kept. The rooms were spotless and very functional as well as having a lovely balcony/terrace to sit on and enjoy the views. We had breakfast included and it was very enjoyable with a good selection of hot and cold items as well as many options for drinks. The hotel is also very well positioned and although the walk was quite steep, it allows one to reach town in a matter of minutes where you can get the bus to Chania or walk along the beach. The staff were the genuinely some of the most friendly and helpful people I have ever met, from check in we felt well taken care of. We chose to dine at the hotels restaurant and this proved to be an excellent choice with great variety, a brilliant view and incredible service (we were given binoculars to look out upon the bay and surroundings). The staff were so kind and were always willing to help us, for example finding the bus stop and timetable, furthermore little to our knowledge they gave us our first round of drinks free on our final night which would have amounted to over £16. This was an amazing place to stay and we would highly recommend it.

We travelled as 2 couples in early August just after lockdown, therefore the hotel was very quiet. We had the pool and bar to ourselves most days and we were the only ones at breakfast, which was served by Sophia who was always happy and enthusiastic. We had two ground floor rooms next to each other with the most amazing sea views. The rooms were lovely and the cleaning staff kept them immaculate each day. Katerina, Sophia and Maria were fantastic, they couldn't do enough for us, they were always happy to offer advice about restaurants, buses etc. We would not hesitate to return here again. Thank you all so much for an amazing time.

Stayed here for two weeks in August. Arrived to find that we had been upgraded to a maisonette which was very spacious and had the added advantage of two balconies both with fantastic sea views (and it also meant the kids had their own room downstairs!!).
It’s a 5 minute walk into Kaylves and yes there is a fairly steep hill on the way back but if you wanted to a taxi back from town was only 5 euros.
The cleaning staff do an amazing job and the apartment and pool area were kept spotless.
The pool bar serves a variety of drinks and snacks and thanks to Sofia, Maria and Katerina, service was always with a smile and nothing was ever too much trouble.
The majority of people we spoke to were returning customers and you can understand why, We hope to return ourselves one day - Chivers family.

Great staff with amazing customer service, very personable and go above and beyond. One member of staff even phoned a location we were visiting for us to converse in Greek on our behalf. The breakfast is good with some variety day to day and the restaurant/bar is good too with stunning views. The chef was happy to make amendments for my dietary requirements. Whilst the rooms are not super modern in decoration, they are well sized, cleaned daily and include self catering facilities we did not expect. There’s a balcony, great a/c and the beds are very comfortable. All surpassing expectations for the price paid and star rating of this hotel. The hotel is not overcrowded or too big and you really feel like a valued guest. Pool facilities are nicely maintained. Short walk to the beach and the town which has many shops and restaurants. Overall, we had a fantastic relaxing stay and we enjoyed some great excursions, some on the staff's helpful recommendations.

First things first, STOP searching for somewhere to stay in Kalyves. Just book now and then read the reviews. I was here for 2 weeks and it was beyond my expectations in everyway. We arrived at Sunrise after a flight delay at 3.30am, the place was closed and called a number that was shown on the door. Nikolaos answered and told us our key was in the door to our apartment and then WhatsApp'd me the rest of the info inc wifi password. Couldn't believe it, he didnt even sound sleep y :) The room was super clean, working air con and amazing wifi. (A mesh system throughout the complex - very nice) The room was cleaned daily (if you wished) and they even folded my wife's PJ's! Nikolaos is a great source of info for the local area and gave us a great place to take a walk in the countryside. His staff are great too. The complex is in great condition, the pool was really good too. Sunrise Suites is on a hill and does have some traffic outside (not that it was an issue) and due to that hill you get the most incredible views over the bay and next to the pool is just greenery. Rooms were of ample size, TV, kettle, coffee machine, cooking facilities and a safe. A I said they were really clean. Kalyves town is a 5 minute walk down the hill and a 10 minute walk back lol. We felt looked after here, it was a place I looked forward to coming back to at the end of the day and drinking some wine, admiring the view in a very nice peaceful part of town. Thankyou to all the staff and Nikoaos for making our holiday just incredible.

My girlfriend and I stayed at these lovely apartments for 2 weeks in May on a self catering basis. The beds in the room were extremely comfortable and the rooms were tidied to high standard by Ali who is a real gem and is always smiling and works so hard. Raffiella who works at the pool bar is lovely and makes the best coffees. The other girls who work in the pool bar are all lovely and friendly too. We had lunch round the pool on several occasions and the food is very good quality and really tasty. The pool itself is perfect and so clean. Yes, the pool bar serves food and drinks during the day, and the rooftop restaurant serves them in the evening. You can just have a drink without eating.
