A lovely stay in the Filia. Reviews had all been incredible which is why we chose this option. The couple who run it are present most times of the day and evening for support/ advice. I particularly loved the surroundings of lush green vegetation and the amazing views. One main building houses the guests and the nearby beautifully kept pool is surrounded by sufficient sunbeds and the small building has indoor seating and the bar and kitchen. We only had a snack and a breakfast here and both were lovely. This is the first time we tried self catering and if I’m honest I won’t do it again! We planned to eat out most of the time but found it more expensive than we expected. So soon learned to make our own breakfasts and snacks. The tiny kitchen area is equipped reasonably well but hauling shopping back ( and beers and wine!) in hot temperatures not only proved a task but also expensive overall. You are definitely limited if you have no transport. The bus is excellent value and extremely easy to get around on but a good 15 minute walk away. I like to get out and about and must admit the first week we didn’t feel quite settled but I think this is because so many guests are returners and were immediately comfortable and knew “ the ropes”. They sat around in the evenings enjoying the hospitality whereas we went exploring and felt a bit shy to join in when we returned. Our own fault but we did feel outsiders for a while. If we were brave enough to hire a vehicle I would have returned again as I loved the Island and felt I’d only just settled in when we had to leave. The only downside for me was the tiny room - which I’ve found typical of Greece - with no room to store any products and a bathroom that became flooded despite attempts to contain the shower. Being both nearly 70 we were terrified of slipping and the bath mat had to be hung out daily as too the towels which were only changed weekly. Because of covid the cleaner didn’t touch your room so we kept it tidy ourselves which was ok but with cooking/ tidying/ trying to keep towels clean and dry it took time out of your holiday. To be fair we knew all this from previous reviews but I have to agree with one that said the high scores are based on the loyal returning guests enjoying the social side rather than the amenities provided. All in all this is a beautiful island with warm friendly people. The Filia was indeed lovely but accommodation was just a little too basic for me. As long as you are happy with this you’ll have a great experience.

My friend Sarah and I recently stayed hereI for the first time. All I can do is echo everyone else’s comments about Anne-Marie and Christos, as to how helpful they are. We were also met at the bottom of the hill, and then helped with our cases to our room, which had a fabulous view of the sea (thank you). Anne-Marie was also a brilliant DJ, selecting great songs, at the pool bar, which included loads of my faves such as northern soul. Christos even ended up doing a major operation on my glasses, after I sat on them and broke them into 3 pieces!! (Extra special thank you for this). Thank you also to Kayleigh for the lovely chats, Despina for your cheeriness and Filia for the great chips !!! One last thing that this place does is introduce you to such lovely people who made our stay so much more special I.e. John and Marie, Bob and Marie, Guy and Vicky, John who arrived a couple of days before our departure. It was great to meet you all x We ate at some great tavernas, Sunrise (our favourite), jasteri, villa Rosa, ratatouille and salt & pepper, all highly recommended. We’ll definitely return!!

Recently  returned from a magical 2 weeks at Filia Studios  and Apartments  in Troulos, Skiathos. A very big thank you  to Christos and Anne Marie for all their help in making our stay a trouble and worry free experience, in these unusual and worrying times, which meant that all we had to do was enjoy ourselves; which we certainly did. The weather over the two weeks  was superb, just going cool during the evenings. We have booked to go back in May 2022 and we can't  wait. Filia is on a hill but it isn't  a problem. Just press the button  at the bottom of the hill and one minute later you will be collected. Brilliant. I have stayed there on many occasions, drawn back by the friendliness of the staff and the new friends we make and seeing old friends. My favourite  restaurants in Town are Basilikos  and Agnadio.  In Troulos Jasteri is the standout but most of them are good.

Just back from our second visit to Filia Studios and couldn't have been happier with our choice. Anne Marie and Christos are excellent hosts and will do anything for you to make your stay super special. The location is wonderful - the views from the balconies spectacular. Have already booked for next September and can't wait to get back there.

We visited The Filia Apartments in September 2021 and from the moment we arrived I knew we had chosen well. The apartments are favourably located in a secluded position away from the road with an easy walk to the beach, best restaurants and supermarkets. The studio rooms are well appointed with new furniture and nice touches such as optional air conditioning and a good quality hair dryer. The pool area is large, well maintained and offers plenty of quality sun beds. The views of the sea and distant mountains from the bar area are gorgeous. The bar is well stocked and there’s a good range of snacks and food on offer from 8am until very late. The owners, Chris snd Anne-Marie are very welcoming, meeting us off the transfer bus and driving us and our luggage the short distance to the apartments. They take care to show you around and answer your questions and I found that we relaxed straight away. They anticipate the needs of guests well - respecting your space and privacy whilst ensuring you have everything you need. Chris unexpectedly rescued us and another family from a restaurant during an unusually rainy evening - driving us all home once we had finished our meal. Having stayed in beautiful Troulos several times in other places, I can thoroughly recommend the Filia Apartments to anyone considering the very safe and beautiful island of Skiathos in the future.
