Spent 2 nights during a hunting trip. The place is well maintained and the staff were friendly. Due to lockdown regulations the restaurant was closed so I can not comment on the food. The lady at reception was friendly and helpful. There was a swimming pool as well as kiddies play area. The log cabin we were in could do with abit of upgrade.

The units at this place range vastly in condition (but not price or description when booking), you can get fairly good to downright terrible. Another issue is that when booking they tell you that the units are serviced, just be informed that they are not cleaned and we first had to go buy soap to wash dishes. We stayed in Fish Eagle, friends stayed in Kingfisher, others camped and others in some of the lodge rooms. Both Kingfisher and Fish Eagle are crap, extremely dirty and have disgusting bathrooms. Our shower was so filthy we opted to go to the caravan park and use the communal shower and toilets there, much cleaner. The smaller units lodge rooms the other side by the pool area are much better and clean, Mossienes and Lorrie look decent enough also. I would recommend the place for camping as communal and private bathrooms are clean and looked after, good shade and mostly grass with enough braai places. The overall grounds and pool area are clean and well kept. Bottom line is to make sure the chalet you stay in liveable, some good, some should be condemned. Booking staff not up to date on what is going on there, you will need to confirm your booking a few times. This place could be a real gems if run properly and if they spend some money on maintaining units, my 12 year old son asked me why are they so lazy not to keep the place clean and maintained.

Our group of friends got together for our quarterly camping adventure over a long weekend. We booked the more expensive camping sites where each stand has its own bathroom. On arrival we paid the R200 key deposit for the bathroom and we were pleasantly surprised by the manicured lawns and camping sites. Each camping site was private with a fence of green bushes marking its perimeter, and we had stunning views of the river.

A real treat was the private bathroom. We left our vanity bags and towels there and it made bathroom trips more pleasant as we needn't take more than our clothes in the mornings. Our bathroom had a glass shower (much more comfortable and hygienic than curtains) and enough room to get dressed in. Other stands had both a bath and shower - we left those for the families with young kids. The only negative comment I have is that it wasn't serviced throughout our 3-night stay :-(

We have yet to find a place with a richer bird-life. We took all sorts of photographs and couldn't wait to get back home to research the species. We had good cell phone reception but didn't pay much attention to it. The kids brought their bicycles and enjoyed riding around the property. We were stationed a distance from the put-put course so it helped that they could ride there. The property has various swimming pools - albeit all cold water - at each camping section, and our swimming pool was close to our site with a communal braai area. This was perfect, as our camping sites were so private that we couldn't really entertain everyone on one site, so we just walked the 5 steps to the communal braai area and it was very sociable.

The Lodge Restaurant has a good menu with reasonable prices. The tuck shop has the basics but I understand that they are upgrading it soon, which will also include bait for the fisherman.

Other accommodation options include wooden cabins and a set of white cottages.

All in all a good, restful stay.

Was told by the manager to take my sh!t and f@ck off after complaining about not having hot water, dirty linnen, and a broken fridge. I asked if they felt that R1430 per night was acceptable for a wendy house that is falling apart and not having hot water or a working fridge? And got told that only poor people complain

Lacked maintenance, poor facilities, spiders in the pool and a limited shop. Pool wasn’t full when we arrived, no generators as a back up power supply and music pumps from the residents the other side of the river, this was not relaxing at all. The saddest part of it all is the management team is very rude and unprofessional who struggles to take accountability and any form of constructive criticism.

We have send emails in English from Australia to them, and they replied in Afrikaans. Unfortunately some of the family already booked, so we had to book with this place. No water for the Friday evening, the water only came back the Saturday after 10. The bad thing is management didn't even bother to offer water to any one - that is not even for drinking water. Just the family in my group added up to over 60 people, and I know there was 2 other big groups as well. Really disappointed as this was my family weekend for my 50th birthday - I can only say this was the first and definitely the last time I will use this place or refer people to it.

The resort is hidden between farms near the small town of Groblersdal. It is situated about 14km from the Loskopdam beside the Olifantsriver. The gardens were very well kept and the extended lawns were luscious. The main activity on the resort was fishing. The resort had a very traditional feel from the surrounding local community.
The facilities of the units were good, if you take into account that the lodge has no star grading. There were older units (that I definitely would not promote) and beautiful 'all white" upgraded units. The kitchen equipment was basic and a bit low quality. The "all white" units appeared very neat and clean and the bed was comfortable. The veranda with a private "braai" area was very enjoyable. Although the units seemed to be large, very strict regulations were set for the occupancy of the units. Most of the units only allows two people, which were really silly for this type of resort. Very nice camping facilities were also available for the adventurer. This was a quiet and peaceful place to rest. If you are lost without technology, rather pass on this one!!
