I stayed at Guinea Feather from 1 - 8 March, on a business trip. Arriving in the heat of summer, I was shocked that they do not have aircons in all the rooms. Other shocks followed, including a TV that didn't work. As part of my booking I get a R350 dinner allowance. Unfortunately the owner had only availed 2 dinner options which were not worth R350 and she refused to give us a voucher for a local restaurant or a cash alternative. Most shocking was the attitude my complaint was met with. The place is not accommodating nor welcoming. I do not recommend it.
This property is way over priced as the maintenance is not done and the rooms are nothing to get excited about. My food order was totally wrong and they just didn't care about it. We only got a 'sorry about that'. We complained about the airconditioner that is not working properly and making a terrible noise which kept us awake. The only reply was that we should press the remote very hard for it to work and that they may have to replace the remote in the future. They said there was a spa, but there were no price list or instructions on how to book. Also no information about the area or suggestions of things to do. Staff were clueless and very difficult to understand.
My wife and I stayed here for one night. All the other guests were attending a wedding nearby the following day , so had set up their own dinner arrangements at a braai (barbeque). We were, therefore, the only guests at dinner, but we were visited by the owners Willem and Ester, who were most friendly. The waitrons, Cynthia and Frans were also attentive. The dinner was quite adequate as was the breakfast.TonyC.
We stayed here for 1 night when visiting our daughter who was living ( and working) at groblersdal. The only drawback was the double bed were the matrass was shaped like a valley. But everything else was perfect. Nice and clean rooms with an excellent shower. Delicious food ( diner as well as breakfast) and a very relaxing atmosphere and beautifull garden, patio etc. The staff as well as the owner were superfriendly. Very good place to stay when you are in that neighbourhood.
During a recent business-trip to South Africa we stayed for two nights at the Guinea Feather Country Lodge. Really, a surprise! We lived in the area for almost seven years, but never came across this place. We should have! The staff is friendly, the chef makes your breakfast to a surprising festivity, the place is a beauty, with the ducks, the pond, the Guinea Fowls. The place to be!
