we had a family apartment booked and after a long drive couldn't wait to check in. our host to be fair was very nice and friendly and informative but then it all turned sour. our apartment had no sitting area unless you sat at the dining table and the bathroom opened out to the parents 2 single beds and kitchen which is against regulations in our country. no natural daylight or ventilation in the bathroom meant it smelled really poor despite it being clean and old fashioned. kitchen utensils and accompaniments were severely lacking and made it almost impossible if you did want to cook there. We set about looking for alternative accomodation immediately for the remaining 3 nights and found what we wanted in nearby Porec which was the same price but for a modern open plan apartment and proper facilities. The owner told my wife that we were not to put suncream on our kids if they were using the pool which is this day and age of skin cancer awareness i found totally bizarre. to be fair the owner was very obliging is arguing his case for loosing the balance owed to him but we compromised and met him half way. there may well have been other units in the building more appealing but certainly not our one and won't be returning there any time soon if ever to be honest. Yes it's an old building but needs a lot of money spent on the interiors and workmanship on the place to bring it up to standard for what is being charged.…
+ Our host, Silvano, give us more than useful hints regarding places around that suppose to be visited. - It was a bit tricky to find the place since it is in old part of town where you must pass few steep and narrow streets.
People werd very nice and gave us a map and explanation of what to do in Istria! Pool was bigger than we expected and very refreshing. Very close tot porec but still a very quite town. Our appartement had everything we needed.
We had a great stay at Vila Višnjan with friends. We rented 3 rooms, two studios and a one bedroom. The rooms were spacious and nice, the owner and the staff was wonderful. The pool is great, it was perfect for the kids and for us to cool down, and there was plenty of room for all 10 of us to hang out. I only had one complaint and it is that the large one bedroom only has one AC unit in the kitchen, which does nothing to cool down the bedroom. Leaving the windows open is difficult bc of bugs as there are no screens. But overall a great stay, and a great location especially for those who want to explore Istria and enjoy a less crowded area.
My wife and I choose this accomondation due to recommondations from some family members who stayed there. Villa actually comprises of several refurbished old buildings in the heart of old Istrian town Visnjan. We stayed at the studio which was very confortable and pleasant. Silvano, the owner, was charming and helpful. The pool at the Villa is really large 12x6 m so we had a lot of relaxing fun there. Must try some Istrian specialities and visit Rovinj and Motovun which are two most beautiful towns inInstra.
