Renaissance ornaments preserve the nobility of the Parador, where Napoleon regained strength before attacking the town of Vitoria/Gasteiz. It is located in a vantage point overlooking the most beautiful parts of the plain of Alava, the Gorbea mountains and the Ullibarri Gamboa reservoir. The remarkable rooms feature wooden chests, furniture and floors.

Excellent and quiet location, allows one to recharge battery for a forthcoming travel. Room size and comfort were very good. Restaurant offers exquisite and traditional gastronomy. If you love churros this is the place to be. Breath-taking and beautiful landscape view. A good value for my money.

We spent a week at the parador de Argómaniz, while visiting the Basque Country. The parador is ideally situated, about 15 minutes away from Vitoria-Gasteiz, an hour from Bilbao, an hour fifteen minutes from San Sebastian and an hour and a half from St Jean de Luz, France. We had a spacious double room with a large bathroom. Very peaceful, no noise, with views of the garden. The breakfast was good, apart from the buffet items, you can ask for eggs, bacon, etc. The service was efficient and friendly, but we felt that they were in need of more help, due to the number of clients. The staff at the reception desk were always willing to help with travel suggestions, etc.

The rooms are very old and need urgent refurbishment. The staff is exceptional, very friendly and helpful. The rice is too high though for the quality of the bedrooms, especially the bathrooms. On the positive side, rooms are big and the bed is extremely comfortable.

Stayed on 26th June. The review is for the Parador, the restaurant is excellent. It is not cheap, however we do like Paradors, however the experience was disappointing. It is basically one old nice building with 2 new wings of bedrooms. The bedrooms are pretty standard rooms, you could be staying anywhere, however it had 2 red lights flashing in the ceiling every few seconds and no decent mirror in the bedroom, we stayed in a superior room. The promised view suffered by having a tree outside the bedroom. The description was ‘This pleasant, peaceful, relaxing spot is an excellent choice to get away from the noise of the city’ Unfortunately when we arrived a function was in progress and we had loud disco music played outside until 21:00, if we had known about this we would have gone somewhere else. I would ask that customers are informed of functions so that bookings can be cancelled if wished. The Parador is basically a generic conference style hotel ( the middle floor of the old building is a conference area) with generic bedrooms attached to a very nice old building. The only saving grace is that it also contains an excellent restaurant.

We were not planning to go anywhere during the pandemic but an emergency meant that we needed to travel and so we were grateful to find hotels (such as this one) that were open, for an overnight stop-over. I cannot speak more highly of this hotel. Despite all the problems that COVID-19 has brought, the Parador de Argomaniz has risen to the challenge. Our reception was delightful. We were given a very warm welcome, everything was explained very clearly and the measures that had been taken to ensure that this was a COVID-free hotel were nothing short of remarkable. Screens, masks and absolutely everything (down to the voucher for a drink!) was sanitised and passed to us without contact. I needed a couple of PCR tests printed out, and this was done within about a minute (and presented to me in a sanitised folder). The room (211) was lovely; very spacious, well-lit, lots amenities, a really comfortable and large bed with lots of good quality bedding, plenty of places to plug in chargers etc. etc. Full marks. The bathroom was huge, with a separate bath and shower, and every conceivable amenity. Of special note was the large bottle of hand sanitiser ... which had itself been sanitised. We had a delightful dinner in the hotel, with good food, efficient service and warm hospitality. Thank you to Roberto Ramón, Dessire, Adrián and all the team for all their help and assistance, and making this very short stay a truly memorable one. This is an area of Spain that we do not know well, and we very much look forward to returning to the hotel for a longer stay when the pandemic is under control, in order to explore this beautiful region.
