This hotel was one of the best finds I have had while travelling. It's located overlooking a dam on a golf course. The rooms are very well appointed and the staff are incredibly friendly and efficient.

For my business trip I stayed alone in a mini-suite, but paid the price of a mid to low end hotel room. I was incredibly surprised by the room given the price paid. One of the best value for money deals I've had while travelling.

I took my family there on the next trip and got a large suite, again at a price that seemed way too low. Staff went the extra mile to accommodate the four of us by placing an extra sleeper couch in the room at no cost.

For business I cannot recommend this hotel enough. For pleasure and/or family trips it's not close to the beaches but it is only 5 minutes away from the Gateway Theatre of Shopping and probably 10 to 15 minutes or so from Umhlanga. I'll definitely stay there in future for all my Durban business and pleasure trips.

This is my home whenever business takes me to the Durban SA area. have tried other hotels, but keep returning. It is quiet, clean, well kept Lodge in a modernized colonial setting. overlooks a small lake with great wildlife and a golf course. Staff is very helpful and attentive.

We have held an in house conference at the Kingfisher Conference Centre and all our delegates stayed at the lodge.

The lodge met all our business traveller requirements and the conference venue was great with really friendly and helpful staff.

In terms of the lodge, it is comfortable with all the basic requirements that a business traveller seeks. There is wireless internet, rooms are spacious and clean and the meals are fine.

The conference facilities are good and the staff is knowledgeable.

My first impressions are generally the lasting ones. I was wowed with the friendliness from our first visit since December 2018. We were shown around by Elaine and even met Anthony the owner. On our arrival for Christmas I was simply taken aback.
Ranton and the other gentleman were so accommodating and so was Elaine. My first stay ensured that we went back for Easter 2019 and I have booked again for December but saddened that I did not get the suite I wanted as they were booked however I am sure that we will have another memorable week. I would recommend Kingfisher to anybody who want to just relax and enjoy home away from home.

As per a guests review in Aug 2018 regarding door key that cant be removed, well can this still be room no 5? We complained and was given a lesson as to how to open door huh!!! How extremely frustrating!!! Aircon inside room, old and so.... noisy, 4 nights of sleeplessness and mildew in shower. Breakfast was so frustrating, have to ask for coffee to be filled up, ask for muffins, ask for serviettes, ask for deep bowls, food ok. Setting is beautiful and convenient to amenities, but we will not be back

Response from onthegotraveller, Guest Relations Manager at Kingfisher Lodge

Hi Elrica I'm sorry to hear you didn't enjoy your stay. I have checked the lock for room 5 (which is new) and had no issue opening and closing it, I also got someone else to try and they also didn't have a problem, no lesson required. I can assure you the shower is cleaned thoroughly, although there are some stains on the silicon, which unfortunately happens over time. We are in the process of removing and replacing this throughout the Lodge, a constant process! As for the aircon, this is a brand new unit and while I agree that it is noisy on testing it today, unfortunately this was not brought to my attention during your stay and therefore I was unable to have it seen to (or move your room, if necessary). Regarding breakfast, I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed the food and sincerely apologize that you found your experience frustrating. Our staff take great pride in going out of their way to ensure that our guests needs are met-see review on 2 September 2018- I'm sorry to hear that this was not your experience.

Our stay at the Kingfisher was perfect. The staff is experts at anticipating needs and promptly fulfilling requests. The lodge itself is beautiful and a great location for a number of things. It was a great place for our group to tour and recharge. I highly recommend it.
