Detailed Reviews
We loved the place! Stayed there for 3 nights. Amazing fireplace to keep warm and cozy, she upgraded us and also gave dstv access for free. The tv didnt have a usb port for the harddrive which was a slight pity but theres enough to make up for that. The place was spacious, with plenty of utilities, blankets to really make yourself at home. Its lovely to sit outside and watch bird feeding, enjoy the sunshine. Theres also a cute lovely little garden in the back with a bench where we had a mini picnic. Highly recommended. Worth the money you spend!

Thanks for the very comprehensive review, as pleased you enjoyed your stay at Hoopoe. I am especially glad you enjoyed the awesome birdlife and the little back garden with the French oak bench and "mushroom" driftwood table - i must admit to sneaking in to the backyard from time to time myself, when there are no guests around, for an early evening sundowner and a spectacular McGregor sunset.

We stayed in the sunbird room. Comfortable open plan with kitchen and big bath tub. Side toilet and outside shower. The kitchen is big enough and well equipped for preparing small meals or having a braai. Free WiFi. DSTV an optional extra. Bronwen was friendly and welcoming. She placed flower petals all over the room which was very clean. If you planning a stay in McGregor then I will highly recommend staying here.

Peaceful, relaxing and fresh farmland air. This was a great weekend getaway. The Sunbird cottage was quaint and cozy with a beautiful little garden, and the outdoor shower was a novel experience. The sheltered town of McGregor is full of friendly and welcoming people, who made our trip even more enjoyable. For such a quiet little place, there was plenty to do in the area and we even left feeling we hadn't seen all of it! We'll definitely be back soon!

On the spur of the moment, we decided to take a break from the city over the long weekend. After hours of searching for available accommodation I found Cape Cottages in McGregor, and boy, am I glad I did! The Sunbird cottage was perfect. Equipped with everything that you could possibly need (we even discovered a few board games for those cold nights in front of the fire), a big bath, and al fresco showers. Simon was a great host and gave us a few tips on the restaurants in the area, and possible activities that we might enjoy. The only downside was that we only stayed for 4 nights and not 2 weeks!

The perfect spot to just rejuvenate the soul and allow tranquility to wash through. The comforts a definite plus and the safety without fear helps you just roll into the calm of the surroundings.
Only wish we could have stayed on to enjoy more of the quiet time. Alas we were there for a wedding but it was the perfect runnaway for the weekend awat from the busy cities to revive the soul.

Cape Town Central, South Africa298 contributions44 helpful votesIs there a swimming pool ?
Hello
Unfortunately we do not have a swimming pool, but each cottage has a private vine covered stoep set in a mature shady garden.
Sunbird has a small formal pond with a fountain in a shady back garden area.
Kindest regards
Bronwen
