Picture hills draped in mist, sunsets and tranquillity that would repair and recharge the most tired soul.
Beautifully managed.
I loved the duck pond at my doorstep and watching the sheep while sipping a cup of tea on the porch.
Charming.

This is farm life at its best! The Homestead is perfect for large groups with kids, we were 12 adults and one toddler and we all had a blast.
You wake up to the sounds and sights of chickens outside the windows, and the blerring of sheep not far away grazing the meadows and every morning you have the option to fetch you own freshly laid eggs, milk the cows, feed the animals.. my 2year old son loved this!
The outside patio equipped with the braai AND firepit allowed us to make supper outside and "kuier" all together while enjoying the beautiful sunsets.

A mention must also go to the hosts, we never saw them once but when we needed assistance they made sure it was sorted; true hospitable souls!

Definitely recommend this accommodation any day.

Valerie, Theuns and the whole Team are doing a wonderful job.
This is the perfect family getaway.
Make sure that you are organised because once you have arrived you will not want to leave.
The Cottages are very beautifully renovated and the interior decor is perfect. The kitchen is small but well equipped and large enough to prepare a meal. You have an indoor fireplace and on the big Veranda a lovely braai. Wood is provided and if you need more they sell it for a good price.
We prefer the cottages but we stayed once at the homestead which is also nice but better for bigger Groups.
The Children are free and they can explore. The Children can feed the farm animals at 17.00 with Tsala who is excellent with the kids and in the morning you can send the kids at 8.00 to fetch fresh eggs, taken right from under the hens. Supervised by Tsala as well.
You can hike, swim in the Dam ( with easy access, large tubes to float in and a small boat ),
take a tractor ride, see and feed the animals, climb a tree and do stargazing. The list is endless if you enjoy nature and farm life.
We have been three times already and we will go again. For us it is the perfect place to slow down from the busy days in Cape Town. You can read a book or enjoy the beautiful landscape and the kids are happy as well.
Where possible try to go during the week as there are less guests and the farmer goes about his daily farming business and you can experience this as well.
If you go as a couple with no kids I’m certain you will have an unforgettable romantic, relaxing break.

The price value is very good

Do not forget to book a restaurant in Standford. There are some very good ones. My tip would be Springfontein.

Dear Valerie, Theuns keep living your dream, go well and we wish you and your team and your wonderful piece of land all the best.
If I could I would give you 6 stars!
We will come again!
Kind regards
Marrin& Matthiew

What a stunning place for a family visit. Everybody on the farm seemed to put themselves out and the accommodation was perfect - simply and beautifully decorated and with all possible mod cons including a dish washer.
We all had a wonderful time, feeding the goats, alpacas, ducks, lambs and pigs. Tsala was absolutely fabulous, full of knowledge and fun. She made sure that every child was included in the activities. Jesse, the little Scottie, was also a great hit and extremely enthusiastic, even coming on a tractor ride with us.
My granddaughters were up early in the morning to collect eggs from the hens and these were absolutely delicious for breakfast.
The farm is beautiful and very well maintained and what a fantastic night sky, starting with a gorgeous sunset. We sat on the verandah and wished that we could be there for much longer than a week-end.
Although the weather was a bit miserable, it did not matter. We still had a great time. Thank you, Val, for sharing your wonderful farm with us.

We stayed here for two nights on our road trip from Knysna to Cape Town. Too short if you ask me!
This honestly is the best, most beautiful, stylish self catering accommodation we have stayed at in the world! At an incredibly reasonable price. Every detail has been thought through...
We stayed in Dormer cottage.

You can order cooked meals from neighboring farm which they deliver daily... delicious!! Try it one night!

There is so much to do...

For the kids (and adults!!) you can do ‘farm stuff’!! Feed the animals twice a day, collect eggs and even try your hand at milking a cow/goat.

Star gazing... wow!!

There is the most fantastic swimming dam! Complete with row boat, tubes and boards!

The view point is worth a trip. I would suggest parking your car at the bottom of the hill and walking to the top if you love the fynbos and birds!! Spectacular sunset and easy walk even though it’s uphill.

Stanford is close by with lovely restaurants, shops and a wonderful bird hide!

Wine farms within driving distance.

What we didn’t do enough of was just relax!!!!!

When we booked we weren't able to get a cottage like our fellow travelers were, so we were offered 'The Duck Pond' room which in a way was sold to us as 'less appealing' than the cottages. When my husband, myself and 21 month old son arrived we were absolutely blown away! The Duck Pond room is so well located and has all you need as a small family, convenient, warm, beautiful views & peaceful. We also visited our family in Cottage 3 and were equally thrilled with their accommodation which is very suitable for families with slightly older kids as hey can run safely and have freedom & fun! Tsala and Gloria are such an asset to this farm they are friendly, knowledgable and phenomenal with kids, they assisted us in feeding the: lambs, ducks, alpacas, goats & pigs, as well as collecting eggs from the chickens for our morning meals, the kids absolutely adored the experiences and loved the interaction, they even got to ride a tractor! Valerie was extremely kind and informative during the booking process, we ordered meals from the neighboring farm which were delivered to our accommodation in the evenings, tasty, convenient and well priced. I would recommend Landmeterskop to any families I know and thank you for an unforgettable experience!!

What a lovely get-away. We stayed here over the weekend with our 2 year old daughter and we had a lovely time. The house is well equipped and stunning and the activities for the kids is very enjoyable for young and old. Can't wait to come back again.

We had the unrivaled pleasure of spending 3 nights at Landmeterskop farm to celebrate my mothers 70th birthday. We needed a venue that could accommodate two families of 4 along with my mum (9 in total). The kids ages ranged so we needed something for everyone. This farm is difficult to describe. If you imagine heaven its as close to it as it gets. We stayed in the Homestead which consisted of 5 bedrooms. It was magnificently decorated and furnished. Everything was thought of. The beds were extremely comfortable and you couldnt find a speck of dust if you tried. All the mod cons were supplied without losing that special farm, rustic feel. The views and surroundings are something out of a picture book. The staff are amazing and gave our kids the time of their lives. Stunning walks, 4x4 tracks, mountain biking, swimming in the dams, feeding of all the animals and the list goes on. To make things even more special we used the services of Karien Buys and her daughter Nina who live on the farm next door. They do catering. So if you don't want to go the self catering route you will be well advised to use them. We have never indulged like that ever. Fresh farm baked bread and muffins every morning. Don't miss out on this you will regret it! We had roast lamb and veg, home made lasgane, home made malva and homemade custard, home made fruit punch, homemade pickels, sauces, jams and rusks & quiche. There was everything you could dream of and more all delivered as you desire (the menu is vast). I can't recommend this place enough. Its not too far away from Cape Town and yet you feel you are truly out of the mayhem of life. It is perfect for every single age group and it really was ideal for our family celebration. It has cottages on the farm too which are beautiful. Karien and Nina were truly lovely and accomoodating with all the food and flower arrangements and Valerie our hostess at the farm was attentive and very very kind to us. You wont find a more magnificent and well cared for farm anywhere. Manicured and loved. Every animal is adored. The fynbos is indescribable. We collected eggs in the morning and fresh milk.
Its the simple life but with every indulgence along the way. We cannot wait to go back again. Thank you!

One of the best places I have stayed at. The owner and staff members are super friendly and go out of their way to make sure you enjoy your stay. The cottages are beautiful and have everything needed for your stay. The rooms are spacious and well designed and decorated. As far as enjoyment for kids, you are not going to get better. Swimming in the dam, feeding sheep and ducks, milking goats, collecting goats, and interacting with alpacas, pigs and even a cow. There is even a tractor ride. And if you don't feel like cooking you can even order home cooked meals.

"If you're a large family travelling then the Homestead would be better for you. Lots of space and great outdoor seating etc."
