Had a wonderful 3-night stay at the farm in December. The facilities are well-kept and the farm is located just a few kilometers outside the cozy town of Stanford. Simba, who was our host for the time was welcoming and made sure our stay was pleasurable. The views from the camp sites are wonderful and the campsite have electricity and water available. A braai drum is also available, so no need to bring your own.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Black Eagle Bus. It has all necessities and provided adequate protection in a fairly bad storm too, which we were very thankful for.

The team from Rivers End are extremely friendly and helpful too.

Our dogs were very happy to run around and to have a good walk on the farmlands across the road and up the hill.

Room Tip: Ensure animals are protected from Ticks as there are ticks on the farm, as can be expected.

I'm not sure what to say about our stay. It was very bad weather which was not their fault for a not so good stay.
We stayed in the Black Eagle Bus.
There was a notice we cannot use appliances with elements. Thus no toaster to be used even though it was available.
We could not switch on the outside lights as it would blast everything else.
The bus leaked in 5 different places. The canopy was not agaainst the bus which meant although you can sit outside during light rain, this prevents you from doung so because it rains in from between the bus and the 'stoep' and the also the bus door should be closed but it still leaked in through there.
Two windows could not be closed to prevent gas build up. Understandable.
I think maybe a revamp and good seal would help. Maybe think again on the ergonomics of all. Space can be better utilised. Specially if you need to sit inside during rain storms.

What you cannot take away is the breath-taking beauty of the surroundings and their friendlyness.

It is pet friendly.

However I would not pay that amount for the Black Eagle Bus had I know then what I know now. I think it is a bit pricey.

Don't fool yourself you WILL get an experience you will never forget though.

Terrible experience. Accommodation was not clean, braai grid was disgusting and rusted so could not be cooked on. Gas fridge was a health hazard, could not even stay at the bus in the end due to gas fumes. Gas fumes from the fridge immediately filled the bus with all windows and the door open. Reached out to Johannes about this on Whatsapp but was ignored. Not recommended at all, nice idea but terrible execution on the idea. Seriously, the gas is a health hazard, the only other option is to have no fridge which is not what is advertised.

Joined by family we spent 6 nights away in the cabin at Rivers End Farm. We had previously stayed there but in the Black Eagle Bus. The cabin is well equipped, clean and has an incredible view of the vlei and mountains. A big plus is that it is off the grid and power their own electricity. There is wifi, TV with Netflix and DSTV. One negative was that the oven did not work ( I had seen this on a previous review and think it should have been fixed by the time we arrived). Having no oven meant we had to discard some of the food we brought that could only be cooked in an oven. I think for the price there is an expectation that everything works. The farm itself is lovely and picturesque. After the floods there is no water in the actual vlei and you need to walk quite far to get to it. Overall we had a lovely time, made even better by the ever helpful Simba who is such an asset to the farm. Would highly recommend.

Enjoyed the bluegum sites, but the others looks really good too - can’t wait to try the wilder sites. Our sites had water, electrical connection, and some lovely ambiance lights that were a nice addition. Ablutions were clean with great showers - good pressure and heat! Lots to do nearby too so a great destination. Perhaps a little more pricey than comparative offerings but an enjoyable stay nonetheless.

The views are serene and you could happily sit for days on the porch. The unit is very well equipped with everything you could need! Lovely, clean big cottage that was super relaxing.
We took a short drive to the beach which was nice.
