I spent 2 nights at the lodge. I needed a weekend away from work in Cape Town. This was an outstanding place to stay. Juanita, the property manager, was on hand to greet me and show me around and make recommendations. She could see I needed some time to relax and made sure I had what I needed and then left me to my own devices. The location is one of the best I have visited - right on the river but still close enough to town for a meal. The room was clean and well-appointed. Please note that you need to bring your own toiletries. There is limited TV but it is not needed; the birds on the river are quite entertaining. There were several periods of load-shedding and there is no back up generator so be prepared during the load shedding season. The location is truly spectacular and there is a lot of space to stretch your legs. In addition, it is very, very reasonably priced! I will be back!

Very good self catering apartment in excellent location. Wonderful views, loads of birds but not too far from restaurants and other amenities. Valda and Juanita couldn’t have been more helpful both before and during or stay and Juanita cooks a mean buttered chicken.

This was our second trip here, and needless to say, we were not disappointed. We visited Stanford River Lodge just about two years ago and have been wanting to come back ever since. Our second stay in the Fisheagle suite was just as romantic and unforgettable as the first and the view was as breathtaking as ever. We can't ever get enough of it. The privacy, self-catering facilities and value for money are unbeatable. Juanita is the best hostess ever-most accommodating and easy going, she always makes a plan for exactly what we need. If any couple needs a breakaway from city life and some quality R&R, this is ideal. Highly recommended.

Spent 3 nights here on route to Plett. Very impressed with lodge and surrounding activities- local wine farms and coffee shops plus mountain bike trails provide more than enough entertainment. For those that just want to relax - the hosts are prepared to cook for you at the lodge

Another wonderful stay!
Stayed last year and couldn’t wait to come back.
So peaceful and quiet, great to just sit and watch the world go bye.
Juinta us a great host , very helpful and also a great chef !
Yes it’s down a gravel road, but it’s only 5 mins drive, plus you get the peace and quiet in the river bank.
It certainly didn’t make my teeth chatter as a previous review mentions.!
The river cruise is lovely for a few hours, Walker Bay reserve for walking is lovely plus you are only 30 mins drive from Hermanus.
See you next year x

One of our favorite spots, we always stay in the same room and come back at least once per year. It is right on the river and when you sit o the patio you can see the sun rise over the mountains. Super fireplace and electric blankets to ensure you are warm int eh winter.

We spent four nights at Stanford River Lodge. We loved the setting on the river and being away from the hustle and bustle but still being able to easily get to Hermanus. The accomodation was great. We especially enjoyed canoeing on the river and the swimming pool. Joanita was a very attentive host and we had a wonderful time away as a family.

We recently spent two nights here as part of our stay in SA. Everything was great, from the cleaniness of the rooms and fantastic location, to the welcome and attention given to us by Juanita, the manager, who made sure we were comfortable and knew what facilities were nearby. Super!

Beautiful setting on the river banks. So peaceful and relaxing. We had bed and breakfast option rather than self catering and everything was perfect. Advice and guidance from Valda was impressive. Recommended local winery which was rather pleasant but the real find was the Italian restaurant subtly hidden in the town - the best pasta ever. A wonderful spot for stepping off the garden route to draw breathe.

We spent three nights in the Sunbird room at the beginning of our holiday. The room was clean and quiet, the unspoiled view of nature unique. We enjoyed the peace and the wide view. Juanita is a friendly and attentive site manager, John a pleasant and knowledgeable host and owner. We will be back in spring. Cheers, Birgit & Chris
