Wonderful Plattelandse hospitality in quiet Albertinia. If you like the old town vibe then this is for you.
Unfortunately our room had a strong smell of sigaret smoke from the previous night and we found an open beer with sigarets in it, despite the no smoking sign outside. The court yard can also be lighten up at night.

Other than that, the breakfast was great, the room was practical with wi-fi and clean.

My heartfelt appreciation for the exceptional experience I had at this enchanting hotel. I stayed in room nr 3, that has been tastefully revamped. Hudge fan, lots of power points, lovely shower.

The culinary delights served were truly exquisite, leaving a lasting impression on my taste buds. The new bar menu has something for everyone. Sunday lunch is a must.

The bar staff demonstrated remarkable friendliness and professionalism, adding a positive dimension to my stay. They are less expensive than a psychiatrist, and the bar is reasonably priced. Locals come here often, adding to its charm. You can always find good conversation here.

The warm countryside hospitality extended by all the staff created a memorable atmosphere, making my time at this hotel truly unforgettable.

The courtyard is most relaxing, it has a calming ambiance. Perfect spot to have breakfast or a late night drink.

Special commendation goes to the owners wife and reception staff for their flexibility in accommodating changes to my itinerary, polte mannerisms and hands-on approach.

The location of Albertinia hotel can only be described as a comforting warm blanket, providing a sense of tranquility and beauty. You can use this hotel as a hub, and explore the garden route. All this at a reasonable rate. So many hoteliers overcharge in the surrounding areas, not here.
Not a tourist trap!

I look forward to returning to this haven of hospitality in the near future

One literally step back in time! Decor is quite outdated, rooms even have radio's dated back to the 60's! Staff was friendly and accommodating. Our room was quite noisy. Our supper was bit disappointing. Tea tasted terrible because the use borehole water and Cremora instead of milk. However, the stay was interesting and a trip down memory lane.

We had booked Albertinia Hotel because when my father was a boy, he stopped here on holiday while travelling the Garden Route with his family.

But, wow!, has it ever deteriorated! We didn't feel comfortable or safe. The pub that’s part of the hotel was loud and noisy. Our room smelled like old ashtrays, and was very outdated. We weren't even sure the windows in our room locked properly and the windows were right on the main street of the town. There's also nobody there at night, no staff. They tell you to make sure to lock the gate in the main courtyard that leads onto the street, but what if one of the other guests forgets?! On top of all of this, load-shedding was occurring that evening and they had no generator.

There were signs all over the hotel that said they're not responsible for any damages, theft, or death that may occur (for real, “death”!). We didn't actually end up staying there. We left just after we checked in and went somewhere else. Very sad because this place could’ve been maintained.

1. No access to WiFi in room.
2. Carpets revoltingly dirty. Notably stained.
3. On a Saturday evening BOTH bar and restaurant closed when we arrived at 8.30. There’s no other bar/restaurant in town. Reception told us ‘go to the garage’
4. There is no security parking- despite being told there was.
5. Overpriced
6. Told it was a double room- it was two beds pushed together.

Overall a disappointing experience to say the least. If we’d had an other option- we’d have left.

Stayed a couple of nights so that I could do the morning game drive at the Garden Route Game Lodge.
Very friendly and helpful staff, good food and drink. Parked at rear of property. Rooms are a bit tired and the TV had no signal.

Hotel has old world charm. Slightly disconcerting is that we, as the only guest, were locked in the hotel without any indication of how to get out in case of an emergency. The location for us is ideal between Cape Town and Eastern Cape as stop-over and we will make use of the hotel again. Staff were very friendly. PS. Love the radio/sound system in the rooms!

We have been co.ing here for years for Sunday lunch. It used to be worth driving from Mosselbay on a Sunday. Not any more it seems! The food took a turn for the worst. Soggy tasteless chicken pie thats more pastry than filling. Both disgusting. Every thing else on the Sunday lunch menu was a disaster. Something happened & after years of doing this we done. Staff wasn't very apologetic when we complained. It's a shame we really used to enjoy it....

We had an absolute great time staying in the Albertinia Hotel and will definitely be back very soon. Can not fault anything, the beds were so comfortable and everything was clean. Keep in mind it is an old Hotel BUT the service we received was excellent. The owners made our stay extra special and we had a great time in the Bar ate the hotel the Friday evening. Thank you Albertinia Hotel for an unforgettable stay.
