The Sonderend river that runs through Oewerzicht farm is the focal point of most leisure activities, i.e. swimming, fishing (blue gill or bass, on a catch release basis), tractor tubing, canoeing, etc. The farm has a couple of hiking & cycling trails and is also ideal for bird watching and more. There is a challenging 25km mountain bike trail and a tennis court for those who enjoy physical adventures. One of the features of the farm is the suspension bridge over the river - this is the only way, other than a boat or float, that guests can get from the main farm area to the six (6) safari tents on the banks of the river. About 50 meters from the river are three (3) farm style cottages, and four (4) Uitsig cottages are situated on the hill (about 300 meters from the river) with panoramic views of the Riviersonderend mountain range. Oewerzicht also offers 24 grass camp sites, various with reeded shade and power-points and modern ablution and braai facilites.

Oewerzicht hotel garners high praise for its immaculate facilities and resort-like bathrooms, with many guests lauding the property's cleanliness and modern atmosphere. The service at Oewerzicht is often highlighted for its helpfulness and thoughtful touches, such as pre-heated hot tubs and freshly baked bread.
While some reviewers find the accommodations, including the Stone Cottages, to be on the costly side, the spacious rooms and recreational amenities like hot tubs and tennis courts are widely appreciated. However, a few guests suggest adding bedside tables and lamps to enhance the room features.

Detailed Reviews
19 of us long standing friends, enjoyed a wonderful weekend at the beautiful Oewerzicht farm, Die Dam. It was a private area of the farm, overlooking the lovely dam with a hot tub and great inside/outside braai & kitchen area big enough to accommodate us all. Some slept in the newly-built comfortable, large and clean rooms (with spacious ensuite bathrooms) while others camped on the lawns surrounding the house. Perfect getaway with relaxing vibes for a large group of people.

We enjoyed our two nights at the De Hoop Victorian House tremendously. Given a group of the same size (six plus) needing to stay in Greyton, we would have no hesitation in going there again. So please see the following suggestions in that highly favourable light. (1) Any room with a double bed purporting to accommodate TWO people should have TWO bedside tables and TWO reading lamps. (2) Fortunately we had read a review noting the absence of two-pin plugs or adaptors and brought our own. There ought to be at least one supplied in each room. (3) One remote control for the gate and security alarm is not enough, considering that the accommodation is advertised for up to ten people, who can't all be expected to come and go in rigid lockstep at all times. (4) The bed in the main (upstairs) bedroom needs adjustment. It was unbalanced, rocking from side to side. But with all that, we nevertheless recommend the accommodation highly.

Our first ever camping trip and it could not have gone better! Big space (plot 16) right by the river. It rained the entire Saturday but that didn’t damper the trip. Clean ablutions nearby and power point shared between sites (bring a long extension lead) wood available behind the spaza shop. Had a great time

The campsite was nice and spacious and near to the river which was quite nice for the kids. The service was very good - we had a problem with our electricity outlet one evening and Alex immediately responded to the problem. The spaza-shop's hours was not the same everyday which was a bit of a problem. Unfortunately the other campers' dogs were a big problem as NO other dogs were on leashes or kept at their own camping sites. Our sites were pooped on while the owners were watching and just walked away. The rules regarding dogs were not followed. We and our daughter were the only campers who kept our dogs on leashes and cleaned up their poop. This was really a downside to our stay.

We camped at Oewerzicht over a weekend in January 2023. The campsites were fantastic with lush green grass and plenty of shade. The bathroom facilities were by far the best that we have ever encountered at a campsite. We did not swim in the river as the current was too strong for our kids. It did rain a bit but this did not dampen our spirits. Very friendly and helpful staff with efficient communication. Will definitely come back to try out the hot tubs!

Sitting in the hot tub and looking over the mountains is just breathtaking. The cottage is cute and quant with most things you would need for a stay away. I am glad we took extra blankets with during the cold winter months as they only provide on blanket per room.
The electricity was a bit weird, you cannot switch all the appliances on at the same time, if you do it shuts the DB board off.
The main shower in the main room was very nice, you look out into the views that’s displayed before you. You do feel connected to the surrounding. That makes up for whatever is lacking.

Overall a lovely experience. Please, we need more showers, more warm water and more hooks and dry space for towels and dry clothes. Dogs and wet dogs running freely was a nuisance. Lots to do in Greyton.

We had an amazing stay, the boys camped and the rest of us stayed in cottages. The hot tubs were lovely, only needs more often cleaning attention, same with the splash pool. The boys enjoyed the zipline and the river.

A great weekend and perfect venue for a 50th. Our chalet was perfect for 2 people, it had everything we needed. The lappa for the 50th Party was spacious and well suited to hosting over 100 people. Close to Greyton, a beautiful setting and resort.

Spent two nights at this site, we booked it based on the reviews and then planned our journey around it!
It really is a lovely campsite – there were very few others staying whilst we were there and we chose a pitch at the far end of the site so really felt like there was no-one else around. Extremely peaceful.
The facilities are fantastic – I think it was the only campsite we stayed in that had both toilet rolls & seat! It was like being in a nice hotel – not a campsite.
We would have no hesitation in recommending this to our travelling friends and it will certainly have a place in our address book for places to return to.
Thank you Antoinette!

The De hoop cottage is in Greyton village and not on the farm
We have cottages on the farm that are very close to the river
Hi I have two cottages available that sleeps 4 people per cottages next to each other. Unfortunately no hot tubs at those cottages. You are allowed 2 medium dogs per cottage, but i can make an exception
To get to the safari tents, you can drive (over a narrow bridge - don’t worry you’ll make it) and then there’s parking right there in the tent camp enclosure.
The suspension bridge is a pedestrian bridge leading to some cottages on the main side (the side of the main road).
Basically, once you check in at the Reception (nicely signposted) - they’ll direct you. Only people staying in the safari tents are allowed in that camp.
HI Liana
Thanks for your question! We have 2 portable hot tubs and these are available for hire either in the campsite or at the cottages
Subject to availability
Thanks!
HI Jess
