It is one of the world’s only small, highly personalised retreat centres, known for the quality of its deeply transformational programmes. With only five, private entrance garden rooms, set in the tranquil mountain village of Greyton, only an hour and a half from Cape Town - High Hopes is easy to find, easy to reach and worth the journey. High Hopes celebrates you, the life lessons you bring with you and your birth-right to heal, transform and emerge fully into an authentic life of love and light.

The owner was very welcoming. Our room was spacious, beautifully decorated and extremely neat. We had a peaceful night's rest in a large and comfortable king-size bed. The breakfast was unique and delicious. I would highly recommend this B&B. It is worth the money.

The personnel were so friendly, everything was clean, adequate with some extras. Beautiful, peaceful setting, highly recommendable. Far enough from town for a well-deserved rest but close enough to enjoy all the restaurants. You will definitely see us again!

My partner and I had a wonderful time at High Hopes. It's in a great location. Very peaceful. Top dinner / breakfast. Wonderful hosts to boot! I'd highly recommend this experience, even for just a night or weekend like we did.

• The swimming pool was not available (“it is being relined and will be filled next week” according to the owner). Clearly the pool had not been in use for weeks or months being partly filled with dirty water and leaves.
• The outside glass table was dirty.
• The carpet in the bedroom was dirty.
• No soap was provided.
• The tap water for washing was dirty. We read in the local paper that water pipes to the village had been damaged by the November floods and were awaiting repair: so we would expect the guesthouse to provide clean bottled water for drinking. This was not done.
We checked out after only one night but paid for two on the insistence of the owner

We felt that guests were subservient to the owners' main policy of getting on with their lives unconnected with the guesthouse.

We had High Hopes of this establishment upon reading reviews. The rooms are spacious but the overall feeling is one of grubbiness. The whole place needs a thorough cleaning, especially the bathrooms. Like it or not, cats will be sharing your space. Breakfast was good if somewhat small.

The owners and staff are warm and lovely, but we were disappointed in the standard of the room "sold" as luxury. The bath is super small and old, and for what we paid vs the standard of the room, it is not luxury, but very standard. The breakfast was terrible. 4 course ended up being scrambled eggs on toast, as breakfast is vegetarian with no option of variety to choose from. We loved the garden, its enchanting and beautiful, and as nice as the owners are, it unfortunately doesn't outweigh High Hopes as being expensive for average accommodation.

A fantastic spot to unwind and detox - I highly recommend a weekend away here. They offer wellness retreats, kinesiology, massage, reiki and much more - and lovely breakfasts too! On top of that, Greyton is a superb place to visit - like stepping back a hundred years...

We spent two nights at High Hopes recently and really enjoyed our stay there. It was our first time in Greyton and we were pleasantly surprised. High Hopes was lovely, the rooms were comfortable and spacious and had everything in there that you would need including electric blankets and a lovely fireplace. Very quiet and peaceful especially in the surrounding gardens. Looking forward to going back there again!!

Peace and tranquility wrapped up with good food and amazing treatments. A special place to recharge. The gardens were beautiful, breakfasts were vegetarian and amazing and Lisa the therapist/reflexologist provided the most dedicated and effective treatments I have ever had. Great get away from Cape Town. Down to earth get away.

"I stayed in both Violet and Buttercup and was thrilled with both - the rooms are furnished in different styles, but both had excellent bathrooms, very comfortable beds, a great supply of books, extra wool rugs and throws, interesting and beautiful art works, furnished patios, wood-burning fireplaces and satellite television. Just heavenly. Pick a room ... any room!"
