Detailed Reviews
After a great lunch at Branksome some weeks back, we took a chance on Christmas lunch there - and they didn't disappoint. Rene Vosloo's creativity with food is becoming legend in these parts and she outdid herself at this event. The venue (an upgraded old stone farm barn) is spacious enough to allow for easy social distancing, which is a definite plus. The four-course menu had surprise after delicious surprise, all of which left us feeling perfectly satisfied without the horribly stuffed feeling that often goes with traditional Christmas meals. Definitely a restaurant to visit again.

Quite new renovated country/farm guest house in the most beautiful setting in the S Drakensberg, Big spacious tastefully decorated rooms, big friendly country bar, cleverly shared lounges with fridges and coffee station. The owners were amazing and helpful with any request. Food was country good, spectacular local lamb! We fly fished and did some world-class mountain biking. Big beautiful countryside with lovely people and big hearts to match. Highly recommended

Our party of four travelled from Rhodes for lunch. It is a long time since I have experienced such warm hospitality paired with such good food. I expected that the burger and pan-fried trout ordered by the two non-vegetarians would be good, but didn't imagine that such an excellent risotto primavera would be found in the the remotest parts of rural Eastern Cape! We had homemade coconut ice-cream and fresh mango for dessert, and a beautiful cheese board. Highly, highly recommended.

Branksome Country House exceeded our expectations and we were thoroughly impressed with EVERYTHING the establishment had to offer - from Lisa who welcomed us so warmly with her hospitality to our room, the bathroom facilities, the communal lounge and diningroom. The dinner and breakfast which Lisa prepared for us were delish and most welcome. Lisa's staff were also very friendly and efficient. Thank you for a comfortable and lovely stay at Branksome Country House.

Set in beautiful country side, far away from any city business. The rooms are spacious and tastefully decorated. The food is superb and hosting is entertaining. Plenty to do in the surrounding countryside - walking, cycling, fly-fishing, bird-watching and spectacular photography opportunities.

Very well situated for fishing in the area. Rooms clean and comfortable. Laid back relaxed country feel. Deidre's cooking is out of this world - highly recommend the catered option. Assistance inn booking daily fishing is great.

Lovely guesthouse, well worth the 40 minute dirt road out of Barkley East. We stopped here on our way to the Eastern Cape (Coffee Bay) and loved it! Would recommend ordering dinner and breakfast with Deidre. Amazing food for a very reasonable price.

We stayed at Branksome Country House and used it as a base from where we completed the Ben10 mountain pass challenge. The host and staff were very welcoming and our stay was a very pleasant experience!
