Namib Naukluft Lodge The best spot to experience the living desert is on our 13,000 ha farm, which was pronounced as a private nature reserve in 1999 and hosts the upmarket Namib Naukluft Lodge. Stunning sceneries invite you to nature drives and walks. Enjoy your stay in unexpected comfort and friendly hospitality. The Lodge offers a variety of activities and we recommend a stay of two to three full days. Enjoy the ever-changing pastel colours of the beautiful Pro-Namib. Use the morning hours for an easy climb to the top of one of the adjacent granite hills or a walk in the vicinity. Explore the diverse flora and fauna, where the trees grow seemingly out of the stones. Relax at the crystal clear swimming pool during the heat of the day. In the late afternoon you may join a ‘sundowner’ – drive to the natural marble mountains on the farm. Listen to the evening sound of the barking gecko – a concert never to be forgotten. The clear night sky invites you to an unreal stargazing experience. Try to spot the Milky Way and the Southern Cross! We’ll show you the oldest desert on earth. Our friendly staff will make your stay unforgettable. Welcome to Namib Naukluft Lodge – your desert dream! Namib Naukluft Lodge offers 16 tastefully furnished rooms with en-suite facilities and a private, spacious patio with a striking view. Excellent traditional meals are served in the restaurant, on the adjacent verandah or in the boma from the open fire. The lounge and pool area offer a relaxed atmosphere after an active day in the desert. The Sossusvlei ExcursionOn a daily basis, an excursion to the popular dunes at Sossusvlei is offered. The tour is conducted by an Englishspeaking driver /guide in a 4 x 4 overland vehicle. Secure your seat and book in advance. An early morning rise, with a snack before leaving, enables you to arrive at Sesriem, the Park’s gate, at around sunrise. Enjoy this unique desert scenery with some of the highest dunes in the world. The dynamic and star-shaped dunes are ideal for the keen photographer. Climb one of the over 300 m high dunes and you will be overwhelmed by the view. A full breakfast is served under shady camelthorn trees. Visit the Sesriem Canyon before returning to the Lodge for lunch. The Naukluft Hiking TrailIf you are fit and active, we offer a 2 hour hiking trail in the mountains of this 13,000 ha private nature reserve. Your hike will be accompanied by one of our nature conscious guides. However, you may also walk it by yourself. The trail is accurately laid out, a map and a radio will ensure your safety during the hike. Extend your Sossusvlei Shuttle for another day to experience the Naukluft Mountains – the other side of the desert !

Of the numerous lodges we stayed at in Namibia, this was our favorite. The location is stunning, with unobstructed desert views almost to the horizon from your room. The host went out of his way with his hospitality, and the kitchen is first-rate. There is a small, crystal-clear pool that shares the view of the desert. I picked this lodge because I had difficulty finding a room that could accommodate 3 adults (with 3 beds) within an hour of the entrance to Sossusvlei. This lodge had such a room. But now that I have stayed there, I would stay again regardless of the room setup. Our rooms were comfortable and quiet and we all got a good night's sleep.

We stayed here in February after travelling from Windhoek.
We were warmly welcomed by Ericsson who was a little concerned about us as we were a bit later than planned (Namibian roads!!)
We were just in time for sunset and the views from our lodge did not disappoint!
The rooms are well equipped and have everything you need. Our room rate involved dinner which is a set menu- we were offered a vegetarian option but declined. Breakfast was delicious and the view of the plain and watering hole was the perfect setting. We met the manager whose family own the property (I’m so sorry I can’t remember your name). He was able to point out lots of animals/ birds and recommend other activities to do in the area, including a hike on the property and a trip to the National Park.
We loved our stay and it was the perfect resting spot before heading to Serium and the Dunes.
Be warned the Petrol Station in Solitaire was closed the evening we arrived and didn’t have petrol when we went the next morning so make sure you fill up at every opportunity before heading south!
Namib-Naukluft Lodge staff were a strong influence on our lovely stay here, I wish we had had another night to avail more of the amenities but we shall just have to return!

Namib Naukluft, located close enough to the dunes for a day trip has great accommodations and meals. We used the Sossusvlei Shuttle to get from Windhoek to and from the Naukluft property. They picked us up at our hotel and returned us there on the third day. Totally easy and we had adequate time to explore and experience Dead Vlei, the dunes and Sossusvlei. The guide was very knowledgeable about the geology and wildlife so we felt we had an excellent exposure to this remarkable region. The meals were excellent, particularly the BBQ served out under the stars. If you are inclined, there is also great swimming pool overlooking the sparse landscape.
If you want to be at the dunes as the sun rises you must stay inside the park gates but the experience, accommodations and food make this place special.

We stayed all over Namibia and this was the most expensive…so we were expecting something spectacular..we were a little let down..the rooms are average, the aircon didn’t work so well and made a lot of noise. The food was below average…staff didn’t seem to understand our requests..we asked for toast for breakfast and got bread fried in oil. The wine in the bar was very expensive ..nothing below R300.00 - R350.00.
Having said all that …the sunsets are spectacular..lots of squirrels and flocks of finches and 2 korhaan that visited everyday. The manager gave us some good ideas to do while we were there.

We had a wonderful stay at Namib Naukluft. The view across the desert from our bedroom was sublime. It was so peaceful. as we watched wildebeest drinking at the distant watering hole. The rooms were clean, well kept and tastefully decorated. All of the staff were lovely but I must make a special shout out to Ericson. He was so attentive and fun. Definitely an employee anybody would want on their team. Thank you Ericson!!!
I have to compliment the chef as well. We had the fixed menu evening meals and they were absolutely delicious and of such a high standard. Our stay here was, without doubt, the highlight of our trip to Namibia.

One has so many options to choose from when visiting the Unesco heritage site Namib Naukluft National Park, but staying here is so much more than just an overnight place going or coming to the world famous Sossusvlei dunes. It is a family run business for decades and thus dedication to both environment and hospitality embrace visitors with those endless desert horizons to relax and enjoy the vista.
Wildebeest are gathering close to their open verandah which is not the usual game one gets to see in the area.
Definitely worth a stay, even for a longer period, their scenic drives offer incredible facets of this ancient landscape.

This property is an hour's drive north of Sossusvlei National Park. Is set on 25000 hectare property with loads of wildlife - some of which comes right up to your room's terrace.

The property itself is very very well maintained, with very amicable & professional staff.

I had a pleasant walk around a small section of the property, before cooling off in the beautifully cool swimming pool.

Me and my wife spent 2 nights in the lodge .
We felt like home . This lodge is property of our special guide Sven and his family , of the extravaganza team. It was our honeymoon and Ian, the chef, prepare a special and lovely 5 course menu . We strongly suggest it. The lodges are clean, with al necessary staff and with a big window on the amazing view of the landscape.

We stayed three nights as part of a package from Windhoek. What a beautifully situated lodge. Friendly staff. Plenty of hot water with great water pressure. We loved dinner outside under the stars. Food was excellent. We would stay here again.
