Yes, they have mice. No, I didnt see any. Although you do hear them at night but being forewarned I was prepared to ignore them and slept well (if you are a light sleeper this may not be the case). The "rooms" (lodges/chalets/huts) were clean, comfortable and well appointed, making the most of the views. The service was great and the views.. humbling. Toiletries provided. No phone in the "room" so be prepared to treck to reception (furthest room is about a 6 minute walk so bring a hat for the day and a flashlight for the night!) Feels secluded, remote, a little luxurious and private, perfect to switch off and enjoy your holiday.

Most people who are looking to book in this area already know: it’s hot. Very hot. But the Namib Outpost is, as much as possible, an oasis from the heat. After we spent the morning hiking sand dunes, the amazing Whitney greeted us with chilled, fragrant towels so we could wipe off the dust and sweat before heading to our room. The pool area has large, luxurious shaded couches to lounge on after taking a dip in the cold pools (there are two). The room itself provides a respite from the heat: your private, enclosed deck has an outdoor shower and lounge chairs, where you can doze in the shade, feel the warm breeze waft over your relaxed body, and watch oryxes in the distance. By the time the sun begins to set and you head up the path to the sunset viewing area, where there are drinks and snacks waiting for you, the breeze is cooler, and you can nestle into a lounge chair or beanbag to watch the sun turn orange, then pink, as you sip a beverage and watch the orb fall gently into the mountains.

The Namib Outpost is a relaxing environment where nothing is rushed — including the approach to the lodge, where there are speed bumps to remind drivers to slowwwwww dowwwwwn. The multi-course, set-menu dinner arrives at the pace you choose (we were hungry, so the amazing Riaan brought our courses one after another!), and even checkout asks guests to stop for a moment to reflect on their stay.

The very private and highly luxurious room has a small air conditioner, though remember that the Outpost runs on solar power, a stocked minibar, and a large bathroom. One very important piece of advice: there’s a turndown service during dinner, and someone comes to close the mosquito netting around your bed. LEAVE IT CLOSED during the night. The mosquitoes are real. Really real. They didn’t bother us during the day, but they do love the nightlife.

The Outpost has a variety of activities, but we had our own vehicle and drove to the dunes of Sossusvlei ourself. The drive took about 45 minutes to the gate from the parking lot of the lodge.

This is a beautiful, high-end oasis in the Namib Desert, and a fantastic place to relax.

Spacious rooms with a 365-degree view of the desert. However, the room gets extremely hot during the day and the first room we stayed in, the air conditioning was not working. We informed the staff who told us that it was due to the extreme heat. But we requested to change rooms and in the second room the air-conditioning was working well. So definitely not the heat. But now in the second room we did not have hot water which we managed to survive without for a day because of the extreme heat even though early morning was a bit chilly.

Nonetheless, despite these two mishaps, we enjoyed our stay. The staff are welcoming, very friendly and the lodge is extremely child friendly. The food is excellent, especially their five-course dinner. Top of the mountain you can enjoy a magnificent sunset and sundowners with yummy snacks. But the climb is not for the faint hearted. Also, if your room is somewhere in the middle or to the far end the walk is something else so better request for the rooms closeted to the reception area.

All in all, it was a wonderful experience.

There was nothing not to like starting from heart-warming reception, and throughout our stay during which we were the only couple in the property, who were kindly assisted by some 20 staff members.
This was just our luck to visit the place on weekdays and during lower season, thus we had an absolute privacy. Only us and nature!
The chalets, restaurant, viewing terraces, and the pools areas were spotlessly clean, well designed, and professionally served.
Great experience!

We stayed two nights at Namib Outpost when visiting Sossusvlei and found it a wonderful place to stay. The Villa was beautifully decorated with lots of room and everything you needed. As it was warm we slept outside in the extra large bed on the verandah and it was amazing to sleep under the stars. The staff were all exceptionally friendly and the food was lovely. Our guide Johannes gave us a great tour of the dunes, Sesriem canyon and took us for a sunset drive.
We highly recommend Namib Outpost if you are visiting Sossusvlei.

One of the greatest lodges we‘ve been to while travelling Namibia. Excellent service, awesome scenic view from the lodges, best guided tour to the red dunes and Sesriem Canyon!
The sundowner on the mountain top is spectacular!

Unfortunately there is nothing lower than terrible to rate this lodge. I do not know how the Property’s Ownership has been capable to engage Mr Chris as Manager of this structure. He is the most arrogant and inhospitable person met in any lodging structure worldwide. The lodge is not bad but is run really poorly by Chris and his partner, food is awful, basic services are unavailable, also the staff looks very demotivated. Every request from you will receive a NO answer or a Not Possible answer from Mr Chris (even changing bed sheets, or requesting an hairdryer6
There are plenty of other lodges in that beautiful area of Namibia do not make the mistake.

It pains me to give this fine hotel only three stars. I will explain.

The location, facilities, food, staff, decor, and amenities were excellent; in fact, they were among the best anywhere. The chef came out and greeted the diners and asked about the food. When he learned I was lactose intolerant, he went back and made me a special desert. The full staff made every effort to meet our all of our needs. If you’re into photography, some of the best photos we took were from the hotel area.

Unfortunately, we had a mouse and so did another couple three cabins away. When we returned home, we asked our tour operator to secure a partial refund, and the tour company was told by management that we should not be surprised to have a mouse when spending time in the desert. The mouse ate through our carryon bag to reach our food. The next night we locked our food in the safe and the mouse was not present.

This is an excellent facility with great people. If a mouse won’t bother you, we highly recommend staying there.

We are terribly sorry that the mouse broke your carryon bag. Mice are part of the Namibian nature. Just like ants and other small animals. Unfortunately It is not possible to create a mouse-free zone around the tents. Therefore, it is never a good idea to leave food such as nuts or other snacks around. Small animals will always find a way in when there is food around. Whilst we take every care to ensure the guests comfort, it does sometimes happen that a mouse enters the room by accident. we can assure you that these animals are harmless and do not want to be near people. As we are surrounded by nature, it is a difficult situation but we will however have a look at the guest room and try to prevent further instances of entry. Thank you very much for your stay and we hope you could still enjoy our hospitality.

I have no idea of availability. There were no children or teens there when we stayed. It’s very isolated and don’t know what there is for children/teens to do there.
