The camp is located only 10mins driving from the entrance of sossusvlei. Very tidy and cousy rooms. All separate houses. Pool was clean and very refreshing after a hot day at sossusvlei. Dinner and breakfast is in the nearby sossusvlei lodge (5m drive)

This gorgeous location is simply stunning. The cabins are large and comfortable, each with its own little back porch with a view of the desert in the direction of the sunset. There is a bar with a super nice bartender, which also has the same view. There is a waterhole just in front of the bar so if you're lucky there will be animals joining you for your sundowner. It is a very short distance from the park entrance and the location is just so tranquil and relaxing you should consider spending more than just one night. We loved the place.

Beautiful setting in a stunning location very close to the Sasriem gates. Lovely cottages in the middle of the desert, braai facilities with a spectacular view. Small kitchenette and comfortable beds. Incredible service and assistance with the booking agent, Taleni Africa. BUT unfortunately, it wasn't as well equipped and organized as our other accommodation during our trip. We had no cloths to wash dishes, no plug, a front door with a broken lock which wasted an hour of our dune time trying to have it repaired, and worst of all there was no hot water for showers - it's winter!! At the cost we paid for two rooms, considering this was the most expensive accommodation on our trip, these small things were very frustrating. Most annoying of all is that we arrived after lunch due to a medical delay with one of our children and when asking the receptionist if we still had time to make it to the Sossusvlei dunes and the canyon she said no, we were far too late. We were so disappointed as we only had the afternoon there and planned to move on early the following morning. Fortunately, we took a drive to the Sasriem gates and discovered we had plenty of time for the drive into the dunes, sightseeing, a walk to Deadvlei, and a final brief visit to the canyon. If we'd listened to her poor advice, we would've completely missed out on this. I'd still recommend this camp though as the setting and location far outweighs the smaller negatives.

The Location, accommodation and general service is great. Cleaning of the units are terrible. We were three days in and no one had serviced the unit. Sand was everywhere. The cleaning personnel had to be coached every time to change bedding and clean properly. Laundry was a disaster with clothes not clean at all and not ironed. We were refunded however. With all that, still a great place to visit and we will go again

Dear Kobus, Thank you for your feedback. Glad you enjoyed our location, the accommodation units and the general service. Desert Camp is a self-catering establishment and we do not service the units unless requested by guests leaving their key at reception - this is stated on our website, booking information and in your room folder inside the unit. Our apologies for the unsatisfactory laundry request. We look forward to welcome you back. Best wishes, The Desert Camp Team

Desert Camp is one of the most incredible places I've ever stayed! The location is spectacular in the middle of the desert. Very peaceful and scenic. The staff are super friendly and went above and beyond to ensure we enjoyed our stay. The buffet breakfast and dinner had a delicious range of appetizers, main courses, and desert including local fish and game meat. We enjoyed the pool and bar area as we looked out into the desert at the amazing view. The room was very spacious and clean. I wish we could have stayed more than just two nights!

Very nice place in a beautiful setting. Cabins are modern and stylish. Oryx and other animals are around the facility. We stayed just one night. One complaint though, the mattresses are not good they are sunken in the middle. But everything else was fine.

At only 5KM from the Soussusvlei gate, this is a great location. The cabins/chalets face an open field and are spaced far enough to make you feel like you're there on your own. The room is big enough, and clean, with separate toilet and shower rooms at the back of the cabin. The patio holds a kitchenette and a picnic table with benches. It's a cool place to stay for a couple of nights. No wifi in the rooms (hence the 4 stars, not 5), but you can chill out at the bar where there's an adecuate wifi signal.

Dear Kristi, Thank you for the wonderful rating and review! Happy to hear you enjoyed our location, the space between our accommodation units, the large rooms and patio! It is quite a challenge to provide good wifi in the middle of the Desert, hence we rather provide the best wifi at one general spot. Looking forward to welcome you back! This is a mesmerizing camp. Individual private chalet, extremely comfortable with aircon and a well spaced bedroom and bathroom with a shower. Kitchen is on the outside on the verandah, inside a canvas that zips open with a 2 plate stove. There is also a open braai. Utensils can be rented at reception. Sitting outside watching the sunset in these vast open spaces is incomparable to any other accommodation. Staff is very friendly. Thanks to Vally from the bar, Sillas the manager and the pool guy for the great service. One word of advice, as asked on a previous stay. PLEASE provide chalets with it's own broom and mop as it gets extremely sandy on verandah and inside the chalet. Also please follow-up with each and every tourist if they want cleaning services. As we stayed 3 nights we wanted this option and mentioned it to reception, but they forgot. Walking into a dirty chalet at 15h30 wasn't great. There is a bar and swimming pool on premises. Wifi works perfectly at pool/bar area.

Exceeded our expectations. Kind and friendly staff. Perfectly equipped chalets. Great box of kitchen utensils that you pick up from reception. You can also order delicious meat and salads to cook yourself. Spotlessly clean. Sparkling pool surrounded by grass and big trees. Probably the Braai with the best view ? And only 3 mins drive to the gate to sossusvlei. Extra note: the shop at the engen garage is very well stocked with a range of simple food supplies - plenty of things to make a great meal available.
