This was the best decision ever to stay at this self-catering camp. They offer a service to order food from the main lodge to cook yourself. It is extremely near the main gate to Sossosvlei. The view from the chalet is unbelievable. We even saw a jackal one night while we had a braai. The staff goes the extra mile with everything. Refreshing pool and the wifi works perfect in the reception area. Thank you Cillas, Wally, Angelina and Olivia for the exceptional service. Only one tiny favour for our most definitive next visit. A broom and mop as it gets quite dirty on the verandah and a complimentary bug spray as most people tend to forget this very important tool when out in the open. Remember to ask for a cleaning lady as this is not a given if not arranged prior. Chantelle at the main lodge was the friendliness lady that willingly and eagerly took us for a tour through the premises. Both places are immaculately clean. Most definitely recommendable.

This is a mesmerizing camp. Individual private chalet, extremely comfortable with aircon and a well spaced bedroom and bathroom with a shower. Kitchen is on the outside on the verandah, inside a canvas that zips open with a 2 plate stove.
There is also a open braai. Utensils can be rented at reception. Sitting outside watching the sunset in these vast open spaces is incomparable to any other accommodation.
Staff is very friendly. Thanks to Vally from the bar, Sillas the manager and the pool guy for the great service. One word of advice, as asked on a previous stay. PLEASE provide chalets with it's own broom and mop as it gets extremely sandy on verandah and inside the chalet. Also please follow-up with each and every tourist if they want cleaning services. As we stayed 3 nights we wanted this option and mentioned it to reception, but they forgot. Walking into a dirty chalet at 15h30 wasn't great.
There is a bar and swimming pool on premises. Wifi works perfectly at pool/bar area.

My husband and I had a great 2 night stay at Desert Camp. The individual cottages are spacious, clean, and modern (and the AC was a nice touch on hot days) and you have your own little outdoor kitchen and braai area. You can put in your order at reception for braai food, and then cook it up yourself, and this ended up working out great. The food was excellent, and while we are typically the type who would stay in a lodge and eat lodge food, we found the self-prepared braai excellent and a great experience. Additionally, one night two cape foxes were right outside our cottage hunting insects, and we really enjoyed watching them running around and jumping and catching the insects, and then munching on them. The one thing that would hve been a slight improvement is if wifi were available in the rooms (not just the reception and bar area), but it wasn't a big deal, and wifi only in reception area seems to be pretty normal for accommodations in the more remote areas of Namibia. Overall we loved Desert Camp and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to others.

At only 5KM from the Soussusvlei gate, this is a great location. The cabins/chalets face an open field and are spaced far enough to make you feel like you're there on your own. The room is big enough, and clean, with separate toilet and shower rooms at the back of the cabin. The patio holds a kitchenette and a picnic table with benches. It's a cool place to stay for a couple of nights.

No wifi in the rooms (hence the 4 stars, not 5), but you can chill out at the bar where there's an adecuate wifi signal.

Dear Kristi, Thank you for the wonderful rating and review! Happy to hear you enjoyed our location, the space between our accommodation units, the large rooms and patio! It is quite a challenge to provide good wifi in the middle of the Desert, hence we rather provide the best wifi at one general spot. Looking forward to welcome you back! Stunning and extremely convenient location, a 5 minute drive to the Sossusvlei main gate and 5 minute drive to the petrol station (very handy after making it all the way out there!). The bedrooms were very neat and tidy and the outdoor areas were perfect to enjoy the sunset with and drink in hand watching the BBQ. Reception has everything needed for you to make your own dinner. The surrounds are absolutely stunning and you can enjoy the views (and wifi) from the pool and bar area. The pool is definitely the best place to be in the afternoon after spending your day exploring. All bedrooms are fitted with aircon which is definitely needed. There is also quite a bit of game (animals) within the area which makes for good viewing, just make sure the jackals don’t steal your bbq meat! Would definitely recommend and stay again!

We visited a week ago and it was perfect. The camp is set up with a beautiful swimming pool and bar area where you can relax - and you get the feeling of being in the middle of an oasis. The meals are served at the lodge which is a short drive up the road and the meals are wonderful. Especially the dinner experience - you pick your own meat or fish which are then cooked by a chef on open coals. We loved the experience and will be back.

The Location, accommodation and general service is great. Cleaning of the units are terrible. We were three days in and no one had serviced the unit. Sand was everywhere. The cleaning personnel had to be coached every time to change bedding and clean properly. Laundry was a disaster with clothes not clean at all and not ironed. We were refunded however. With all that, still a great place to visit and we will go again

Dear Kobus, Thank you for your feedback. Glad you enjoyed our location, the accommodation units and the general service. Desert Camp is a self-catering establishment and we do not service the units unless requested by guests leaving their key at reception - this is stated on our website, booking information and in your room folder inside the unit. Our apologies for the unsatisfactory laundry request. We look forward to welcome you back. Best wishes, The Desert Camp Team

I had a very pleasant stay here. I was given the first/last cabin at the end of the road so I had an uninterrupted view of the surrounding landscape, with nice views of the sunset and sunrise. Outside my cabin there is a tree with 2 huge nests built by sociable weaver birds and occasionally a gemsbok rests under the shadow of the tree. It's amazing to see wildlife right outside my cabin, in such a dry and barren region. At night, I could see many stars in the sky right outside the cabin. My cabin is spacious and comfortable with air-conditioning, ensuite bathroom, potable tap water, twin beds, sofa and outdoor barbeque pit. To avoid bringing sand into the cabin, I left my shoes outside the door, and kept the door closed at all times. There's no WiFi in my cabin so I had to drive to the reception/bar area to use WiFi. The Sesriem park gate and petrol station is just a 5 minutes drive away.

We stayed here as part of our safari tour and it was the perfect stopover.

Near to Sossusvlei and Sesreim, it has a pool and bar. Each little cabin is spacious and comfortable with a braai area, fridge and tea & coffee facilities.

If you get up early enough, you will see a stunning sunrise.
