This is a very special place in Antigua. This high end, 35 rooms, all inclusive (a la carte, menu changes every day), adults only, private beach, resort is worth every penny. We had the most amazing time! The food is excellent, the best we had on our one month vacation in Antigua. The attention to detail and over the top service is exceptional. Beautiful beach, friendly people, good quality food and drinks. If you are looking for a secluded place to relax and enjoy some quality time with your special one or by yourself, without worrying about anything, this is the place to be. We would recommend this place in a heart bit and cannot wait to come back. If you like being right on the beach, choose the beachfront rooms. If you prefer your own plunge pool with a view go high up to the hills tops. Thanks everyone at Hermitage for making us feel special and at home. thanks to Jillian, Annette, George, Jessie, Galloway, Devon, Loretta, Simone, Clinton, Stoney, Brittney, James, Alisa, Judith, Onika, Chef Desroy and Chef Sugar, I apologize if I forget anyone! This place wouldn’t be what it is without its people, and Paul and I just want to say thank you to everyone at Hermitage, what you do matters and please keep up the excellent work!!

After surviving Covid for 2 years, my wife and I needed a respite. Our travel agent suggested Hermitage Bay in Antigua, and we are grateful she did. The resort consists of only 37 beach or hillside suites (these have their own pools). Everything is included (top shelf liquor), except for high end wines, and the spa. The food is delicious, prepared by a phenomenal chef. But it is the staff that make this a worthwhile destination. Friendly and accommodating beyond belief. We spent 10 glorious days and nights in a magical location, on a tranquil bay on the southwest corner of the island. Sunsets were spectacular! If you are looking to GET AWAY, this is the place. We have already booked our trip here for the end of the year. Can’t wait to go back!

After nearly 7 years (we came with friends for my 40th in 2015) we returned to Hermitage Bay for Christmas with our kids who are now old enough to enjoy it with us. If anything Hermitage is even better than last time and it is unique for delivering quality food, accommodation and service without being too formal or fussy. The staff are just wonderful and we were looked after so well and had lots of fun and laughter with so many of them. Pilates and Yoga most mornings were a great start to the day (with excellent teachers) we had a couples massage on Xmas day which was excellent and the food throughout the day is just such high quality that it forms part of the days highlights! There’s a decent reef off the beach and if you want to go out further then Devon or one of the watersports team will take you out on the boat to other reefs. The music in the evenings is good (Friday night was the best band) and the atmosphere was always very relaxed and inclusive. Andy has created a truly unique boutique hotel in this beautiful spot and his staff seem passionate and proud about being key to its success. Thanks for a wonderful stay and we’ll be back soon…!

We booked only one night ahead of a longer stay at Carlisle Bay but absolutely loved it and wanted to stay a few days more. Very chilled place. Staff super friendly. Really tasty quality food and wine/champagne whenever you want it. Rooms very nice with four poster and outdoor shower that our girls loved

Disclosure - we booked this trip 2 weeks before travel as our long planned trip to South Africa was postponed. Our criteria were a boutique like, non chain hotel with great food and ideally all inclusive as we wanted to enjoy the various drinks. Availability was limited - Maldives didn’t appeal and limited hotel availability that near Christmas I read the TA reviews carefully - many who have posted less than positive reviews probably haven’t I suggest. TA and a few of the other obvious hotel review went sites were the extent of our research. I was attracted to the arrival service and support through the airport. All though having received nothing from British Airways holidays on transfer transfer arrangements, it was lucky I saw reference on a prior TA review. I emailed the hotel asking for details but never got a reply. Luckily my call to the hotel was helpfully answered and full transfer details provided The arrival service was chaotic, the person meeting us on the air bridge was late, rushed us (helpfully) to the front of the long queue for the health screening but then abandoned us - massive points loss there from us. Great service poorly executed. Room 31 up on the hillside was our lucky room. Great views over the sea and also to Jolly Harbour. I think one of the two best hillside suites, but a long walk up. But healthy It rained a fair amount - which is to be expected. But the rain at night bought out the worst in the cicadas, early morning birds and night noise. That made sleep hard to be honest. There are no glazed windows - which allows breeze through but means all noise travels. It was a reasonable negative to use as that a jet lag from the U.K. certainly led to challenged sleeping Room was good, great views, slightly cold plunge pool but not an issue, lovely outside shower. Air conditioner a little vicious - we chilled the room down pre dinner / going to bed and then turned it off. Too noisy. Food was excellent. Chef seems to worry the portions are too small. They are not and if you have 3 meals a day - why have huge portions ? The menu changes every day and probably, like the lunch options - too often. Something simple like a Caesar salad, seen only once in 8 days. Why not keep on the basics like salsa, the way burgers are ? Small gripe in context All the staff were excellent and universally charming. I don’t think it actually fair to call any one out - Kiev, Antony, Simone as per other reviews, all excellent. One final thought before a summary. Please don’t allow large same sex groups even if family. There was a family of 6 ladies from grandma to grand daughter. They changed the dynamic of the beach, bar and dining room. Management and other guests at the hotel over Christmas will know what I mean. There were other mixed family groups and they all behaved. Maybe it’s the Brit in us, but it created a poor and unnecessary dynamic in what is essentially a couples hotel. In summary - booked late and over Christmas, so very expensive. But we wanted 8 nights of great food, drink, beach and location. It delivered all in spades. It’s not a big chain hotel - it’s the complete opposite, which is what we wanted. We would certainly go again if we wanted a winter break but maybe not for as long as we did We did look at a beach room as used it to shower on leaving - room 8. I think they are cheaper, lack the stunning views and have no plunge pools. But for those seeking to avoid the walk up to the hillside rooms, might be easier. Albeit there are golf carts to all rooms. Final final thought - take mosquito spray and bite cream. Not sure where we were bitten (sand on the beach or in the bar / restaurant at night), but we were in spades. Take the spray and most importantly the cream to treat them.

Dear OccasionalTravels Thank you very much for taking the time to post a review. I read it with interest and concur with many of your points. During the Covid crisis, the fast track service at the airport is invaluable but ass you say it has to be properly executed. We do hope to be welcoming you back again soon. Best wishes Andy Thesen
