The Okahandja Country Hotel is a very nice hotel a short drive to the town centre and the woodcarvers’ market. Our check in was smooth and efficient and we were greeted warmly. Our room contained a TV, safe, small wardrobe, separate shower/toilet, lots of storage space and a mosquito net. However, it could do with more sockets and the back of the room was very tight in terms of space. The sink and wardrobe faced each other in the room, the wardrobe door doubled at the door to the separate shower/toilet. This area of the room felt claustrophobic and dark. The Wi-Fi is also very slow and temperamental in the rooms but better near reception. Dinner and breakfast were very good, with generous portions and excellent, friendly service. The hotel grounds contain nice lawns, a small outdoor pool, and ponds. The grounds do contain birds that can be noisy and there is a busy main road outside the property so light sleepers may not enjoy it. There is a small bar opposite the restaurant. Overall our stay was short but comfortable bar a few minor irritations due to the room design of this old hotel. The staff warmth overcame that negativity.

Lovely hotel with striking architecture. Loved the thatched roofing. Beautiful room and good bathroom facilities all set in lovely garden setting. Surrounding gardens had lots of little grouse like birds wandering around which added to the ambience.

Rooms are great. Food is great. I was here years ago for a Wedding and it was awesome. Not much has changed. And they kept the lodge in fantastic condition even during COVID!?! Service is good and the beer is always ice cold. Best place to stay in Okahandja by far!!
WELL DONE

We stayed there one night on our drive up north. The rooms were clean and spacious. Food was really excellent. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Rates were very decent - email to book directly with them. No hesitancy to recommend this if you need somewhere on this route.:)

Very kind and helpful staff. Good value for money and great food. A good first night after the long flight to Windhoek
We stayed 2 nights and visited the craft shops in town.
The rooms were large with air conditioning. No hair dryer, but available at reception.

The hotel is very picturesque and was perfect for a relaxing last night stopover before heading to the airport. Excellent choice of evening meal courses and very tasty. Not very near anything eg if walking in to town then too far but good for a short stay.

We were camped here early September, in the early hours, around 2 am on the 2nd of September when we were robbed at gun point, we were dragged down from our rooftop tent at gun point then beat us and tied us up, forced us to lay face down on the sand, they then ransacked our vehicle and took everything, cash, cameras, phones, tablet and my husband's wedding ring, even shavers and shoes. They then left us to move on to other campers, 2 South African women. We managed to untie ourselves and with the rooftop tent still up, we drove through the security gate and went for help. When the police arrived we returned to the campsite. Incredibly, when speaking to the owner, he simply said " you will get over it" and when my husband asked if he has had a gun pointed to his face " he said" you will get over it, it happens all the time ". We were totally shocked by his attitude. He was only concerned about the hole in his fence that the robbers cut through. My husband then suggested a room for us to regroup and the answer was " NO, why should we benefit financially just because we have been robbed " Unbelievably shocking attitude from the owner Andre van de wyke !
We advise no one stays here, he is an embarrassment to the tourism industry.

We stayed at the campsite set in the grounds of the hotel (don't worry--it was well out of sight of the main building) on the last night of our self-drive safari. Having spent most of the trip eating on the hoof (far too much to see in Nambia) and cobbling together quick meals from tinned and dried food, we decided a treat was in order!

And what a treat it was. A very interesting menu and wonderful food. Beautifully cooked, beautifully presented and great service. The portion size was generous in the extreme and (by European standards) the meal and the wine we had with it was extremely good value. It's also worth mentioning the beautiful setting--we chose to eat in the court yard, which had clearly been built, planted and lit with great care and very good taste.

A very enjoyable evening--followed by a final climb up the ladder to sleep on top of the 4x4!
