Maltahöhe Hotel is a historical place with lots of history and charisma. The room offered good value for money and was spotless. Dinner was good and the service as well. The hotel does not have a separate reception and the bar is used for booking in and other communication which is not ideal when the bar is filled with rowdy customers. I would rather suggest to use the nice curio shop as the reception.

I wish I could give 7 stars! We arrived at Maltahöhe after driving from Alexanderbay through the desert. Having had a flat tyre we were pleasantly suprised by what we found, especially for the price. Maltahöhe Hotel was absolute bliss!!! We checked in effertlessly, could grab an ice cold beer and cooldrinks in the bar with its German atmosphere. The owners, with their personal touch, homely atmosphere and great food also contributed to our excellent experience. The pool was sparkling clean. The rooms are very neat, aircons working and we had a very pleasant sleep. We traveled as a family and had rooms on the main premises and across the road. Both in mint condition. The owners are extremely helpful and assisted us as well as other guests who needed help with breakdowns and their local knowledge of the gravel roads. We would recommend this hotel to any one!!!!!

This has to do with our overall experience of this place and these people. We broke down 64kms away in the middle of nowhere at 5 in the afternoon and by a sheer slice of luck we picked up the only cellphone signal for miles around. We managed to get through to the hotel (fortunately we had booked a room) and they went out of their way to help us and sent a guy out to trailer us in. The next day they ordered us a tyre and a courier but unfortunately it could only be delivered on the Monday. During our whole stay of 3 days Willy and Maretje went out of their way to help us and were extremely friendly. I can't say how great they were and even the locals stopped to have a chat with us and listened to our story. The hotel itself is wonderful with large spacious rooms and a great bar. The food is brilliant and they have a refreshing swimming pool and a gorgeous beer garden. I strongly recommend you stay here if you are in the area or at least pop in for a meal and a dop. They will make you more than welcome! And guess what? No TV and Wifi only in the main hotel building!!!!!

We had a great time staying at the Maltehohe Hotel. The beer was cold, the people were friendly, the rooms were tidy and clean with air conditioning and the food was delicious! The pets are awesome too!
