We stayed here for the second part of our honeymoon, following a safari in SA, so were desperate for a relaxing beach break. This hotel could not have been more perfect. My husband and I are big foodies, so having the beautiful food served daily in the hotel restaurant was such a wonderful luxury (and well worth a trip if you’re not staying at the hotel). We enjoyed the most delicious Sicilian seafood pasta, tender beef filet, succulent prawns, punchy curries and divine chocolate fondant. It was only made better by attentive and friendly, but professional staff.
Breakfast each morning (included) was excellent, with a wide selection of choice, including cereal, fruit, pastries, cheese, eggs, sausages, omelettes, pancakes, crepes, coffee and tea. Everything was ordered from a menu so was fresh and not hanging around on a buffet.
The rooms were beautifully decorated and housekeeping kept everything clean and well kept. Each evening, we loved coming back to room to a thoughtful turndown service, with slippers and a chocolate bar laid out, cosy evening lighting turned on and refill of the cookies, tea and coffee. We even had the occasional rose petals, delicate flowers and towel swans.
The pool team delivered a service which was perfectly balanced, attentive and never overbearing. A fine line which is often crossed. The water sports options were great, offering SUP boards and kayaks, among other things. Bikes are also available and we took a ride around the local area, including a visit to the national park, which was stunning! One of our waiters took the time to draw us a detailed map with directions to ensure we kept to safe and simple route.
I loved visiting the spa and enjoyed a full body massage at the beginning of the stay. My therapist was kind and calm and provided a wonderful massage that began my stay perfectly. She listened to my concerns and ensured my experience was seamless.
A few evenings we visited the bar and Abi, the barman, was lots of fun. He made a mean Old Fashioned and was keen to engage with you about your holiday and the island.
We really enjoyed the art night on Thursday and purchased an original acrylic dodo painting by waiter and ‘Piccasso’ Raj. It made a perfect keepsake of the island and the memorable service provided by the whole Maison team.

Thank you for a memorable, relaxing and indulgent stay.

What a delight to arrive at such an attractive tiny hotel right on the beach. The Assistant Manager Trishna was very helpful. This is like staying in a private villa with staff at every corner to make sure your needs are covered from massages, drinks, preparing your sun lounger with towel and it’s position to offering a fresh taste of sea urchin or launching one of the hotels water craft. We walked both ways along the beach where you can stroll along tree shaded paths or small beaches for long stretches.

The little restaurant is expertly served by very attentive staff. Look out for Raj, he is very professional.

The two bar staff, Avishek and Sebastian, serving us cocktails, and the best in Mauritius, were experts. How the hotel manager found such great guys was a stroke of luck.

The menu is short which is good but probably needs a special each day for guests staying several days.

Our room was superb, a terrace with chair and lounger and views of the sea across the pool and gardens. The small terraces with sun loungers for all guests are positioned so everyone feels they have their own space. You wonder where the guests are at times but then this is a very small hotel.
There is a lovely sitting room with books, tv, games and pool table incase of a wet day or an area to sit after dinner.

The hotel has recently been refurbished which is why it all looks and is so top level. Don’t tell too many friends about it though as we want to go back!

We had an amazing time at Maison d’Ete with my wife and 1-year-old baby.
The hotel is intimate with limited number of rooms which makes it an ideal place to relax and be able to be at the pool or the beach without any disturbing noise.
We had a superior room with direct access to the pool, this was ideal.
The restaurant was really good with a very kind and flexible Chef (Radjkumar). We had specific dietary requirements and the chef always find a way to make us happy. Thanks again for that.
Last but not least, all the staff was so welcoming, kind and ready to help for anything.
Special thanks to : Fugain, Anais, Estella, Yashir, Abhi, Nancy, Vimi, Reema, Dinesh, Minesh, Akilesh, Nivesh, Selven and Radjkumar.
A big thank you to all the team for making our vacation the best possible. We will be back !
Best

This hotel would not accept credit cards for the booking, insisting on a foreign exchange transfer. My dealer had the money at the hotel's bank within 48 hours but I then had to wait over four weeks for confirmation from the hotel that they had the money for our room and half board package. Upon checkout I was then shocked to find we were charged almost MUR3,000 more when we checked out. I asked why and was not given a good explanation, just that it was extra to cover the full room charge. Is it that the money transfer had not covered the full cost? I transferred the sum requested. If so, why were we not told there was going to be an extra charge before this? I did not want to cause a scene so I emailed the hotel and Newmark management after we left asking for an explanation - no reply!

While it was not a major extra sum of money, it would buy a cheap hotel room night in Europe. A guesthouse that does not accept credit card payments until guests are on site and then it charges more than the fee agreed? I find it all very dubious.

We were also shocked at the extra charges for so many of the dinner dishes. Just two starters included in the half board package. Some of the extra charges were ridiculous – we have had good lobster and other seafood dishes cheaper at quality restaurants in London. Other extra charges were pretty outrageous, such as that for the steak and turf special. All in all, we felt the hotel was trying to gouge every last MUR out of guests that it could. It certainly left a very bad taste in our mouths.

On the positive side, the breakfasts are excellent; we enjoyed the complimentary massage and the staff are a very friendly and helpful group.

We travel widely (Mauritius is my 82nd country) and often stay at boutique hotels. In our experience, this establishment falls very far short on value. And, I have never encountered such a cavalier attitude to room payments. My trust had been challenged by the money transfer fiasco. That extra charge really made me wonder about Maison d’Ete/Newmark. We will certainly not be returning and will not be recommending Maison d’Ete or Newmark to anyone, in fact quite the opposite.

This was the most expensive of five hotels we stayed at in Mauritius and was far and away the worst value.

Dear guests, We sincerely apologize for the inconveniences you encountered during your recent stay with us. It deeply troubles us to learn of the challenges you faced regarding the payment process and the additional charges upon checkout. Please accept once more our sincerest apologies for any distress or frustration this may have caused. Regrettably, there was an unforeseen delay in confirming your payment, which resulted in a lapse in communication on our end. We understand the importance of timely and transparent communication, and we deeply regret any confusion or uncertainty this may have caused. We have been discussing same by email before your arrival. Regarding the extra charges, we want to clarify that it was an automatic error in our system, and we have promptly rectified it by refunding the overcharged amount. This does not reflect our standard practices, and we assure you that we have taken measures to prevent such incidents in the future. Furthermore, we have recently implemented a new online credit card payment system to offer our guests a more convenient and efficient payment process. We hope this improvement will enhance the overall experience for our valued guests. Once again, we apologize for the shortcomings you experienced and thank you for bringing them to our attention. Your feedback is invaluable to us as we continuously strive to improve and provide exceptional service to our guests. We sincerely hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future and restore your trust in our hotel. Warm regards, Christine Ramdiane General Manager

We stayed 10 days at la Maison d Ete in the East Coast of Mauritious and we couldn’t be happier.
Everything about this intimiste hotel is great. The view, the location, the sea, the rooms the service. We are totally in love with la Maison d Ete.
All rooms have a lovely view.
It is small but it never feels crowded.
We tried different hotels in Mauritius but none of the big ressorts are worth this one.
Service is super friendly! The people at the beach, the restaurant and the spa are amazing.
Abhi the barman prepares the best pina coladas in the island and he is great ❤️

We ve spend 5 fabulous nights at la Maison d ete and everything was just perfect.
The staff is wonderful always smiling and ready to help. The beds are very comfortable
The food is very good everything is a la carte and plentiful. There are some dishes that have a surcharge so it was à little more expensive than we expected to pay as we were on a half board basis.
The setting is excellent the beach is clean .
The snorkelling is not amazing but there are still a few fishes.
The hotel arranges some day trips to the market on wednesday free of charge and other activités.

I highly recommend this hotel

Definitely not a 5 star boutique hotel by international standards. Premium room good space and balcony but squishy couch that we couldn’t sit on and took up quite a big area. Only mirrors in bathrooms are room divides and you need to be 6ft + to see in them. Booked half board which gave very little menu options and big supplements on everything else making menu more expensive than London restaurants. Food nicely presented but uninspiring though breakfast good. Staff very friendly at times a little too subservient which doesn’t make you very comfortable. Pools are small as is beach area though plenty of chairs etc

Beautiful boutique hotel with 16 rooms. Two lovely pools with the ocean right there. Spa with an indoor and outdoor treatment room, good quality bikes to explore the area.

Although we were hotel bound for 3 days due to a cyclone the team was prepared and communication clear, the pool table was well used during this time. Fugain, Estella, Annais and the rest of the staff were such a pleasure to have around.

We had our 7 year old daughter with us and although this establishment is not overly child friendly she was well looked after by all.
