The privately owned and managed country hotel consists of 49 village-style rooms, where each cottage is individually decorated to match its specific colonial building style. The main building, which traces its roots back to 1845, has a spacious dining room, incorporating the De Oude Martha Restaurant, the Hunters Pub, Cafe Bacchus and Guest Lounge. Take a journey back in time at our Marilyn’s 60s Diner, a tribute to Marilyn and Elvis with its collection of memorabilia and a menu to match. Right next door, at Tsitsikamma Microbrewery, enjoy one of our selection of Ales, or choose from a variety of other South African craft beers. The hotel is a perfect base to explore the natural beauty and activities of the Tsitsikamma area, close to the Tsitsikamma National Park. The only full service hotel in the area. The Hotel is renowned for its good food, old world charm and has been a favourite for many a year!

Nestled in the Tsitsikamma region, the Village Inn is celebrated for its old English charm and welcoming atmosphere. Guests consistently commend the warm, attentive service and the variety of dining options available. The grounds and rooms are noted for their cleanliness, with particular praise for amenities like electric blankets and air conditioning. While the rooms are generally seen as comfortable, there have been some concerns regarding noise and security. Despite its cozy ambiance, some guests feel that the hotel does not provide adequate value for its pricing.

Quaint lodging in Storms River. Had 2 rooms for our family of 5 that were next to each other but not connecting. Each room had a double bed and a twin, and a bathroom with shower / bathtub / toilet. Heated mattress cover and individual room heater was much appreciated in the winter. The room was functional, had in room safe that had to leave a deposit to obtain the key which you received back at the end of your stay. Were able to pull our vehicle very close to the room to unload our luggage. Breakfast was included in our stay - made to order eggs, fresh fruit, bread, coffee, etc and was delicious! There is a restaurant on site where we ate the first night we arrived - Quaint game lodge decor, good food. Staff were friendly in the entire facility.

I love this place and surroundings.
We stayed one day in Unit 9 and 2 days in Unit 20
We did not like the open shower configuration in Unit 9 - it spills too much water on the floor due to the lack of a shower door. Unit 20 was perfect.
The staff is friendly and helpful. The food was also good.
I would recommend Tsitsikamma Village Inn to anyone and would like to stay there again.

MTB trip special - this weekend was advertised by the hotel as a mountain biking weekend. The accommodation was set up to take bikes and the staff were really accommodating. Meals were great and the riding superb.

We stayed in a premier room which was quite large but tired, with a four poster bed and a sagging sofa. There were hardly any sockets, none near a mirror and the shaver socket in the bathroom didn't work. The WiFi was poor even though the hotel nearly empty so it wasn't coping with a huge demand. There were two wardrobes but one had a short rail and a safe and the other was just a huge space with no rail or shelf (but bizarrely two sockets inside it?!). There are windows on both sides of the room so it was nice and light but there were no blackout blinds so we were awake from 6 am.

The bathroom had geriatric fittings and nowhere to put any toiletries except on a small table near the window. There was dismal water pressure in the bathroom taps although the shower was a little better.

Breakfast was ok at the weekend but very restricted during the week, with a very basic buffet and very little choice. However, this wasn’t really surprising as the hotel was nearly empty due to COVID. That said, the service was delightful and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful.

Had to pay for a continental breakfast due to it being "included in the price" with no option being given before hand to have a choice of what I would prefer for breakfast. Basically I paid for a breakfast I didnt want. And I was told it would cost more if I wanted a full english. Manager was rude when asked why this is the case. Why there was no option of choice was given at the reception or even before the breakfast I dont understand. Had to leave with not having a breakfast. Honestly this was the 1st bad experience I have had at this fine establishment. We go 2 to 3 times a year. So we will be back, just hope they fix the breakfast issues with customers so it doesnt leave a sour taste in their mouths. We would like to pay for stuff we want not stuff we dont. Thank you.

Thoroughly enjoyed. Very attentive and professional staff in a lovely facility. Definitely the best pick we could make in Stormsriver. I’d highly recommend it anyone coming through who wants relative luxury in a family-friendly facility with great food and staff.

On arrival we were warmly welcomed then checked into a room close to reception that had carpets and smelled of cat pee. We were then moved to a room with no carpets only to find out there is no hot water! Now if you know anything about Tsitsikamma is that the cold can be brutal. We then were moved into room 31! very modern and comfortable finishings...the lodge was empty i don't know why we didn't get this room in the first place! Only to discover the shower is nice and hot but doesn't drain properly! Our stay was made stellar by Mario he served us dinner and was very hospitable and made great big fires for us in the dining room! its a luck of the draw at the village inn...best to check the rooms before checking in. But their food, service and wine selection is excellent!!!

Parts of the public areas date back to the years of 19th century logging in the Tsitsikamma forests. The room accommodation is within period style cottages set around a village green. The inn included both a restaurant and pub style bar both serving food. attached to the inn is a microbrewery.Lovely stay.

Nice place. The food served was of average quality and always cold - Saturday night "Braai" set out as a buffet outside in freezing conditions and raining on a slippery stoep., whose cleverness was that and you dared charging R240.00 for cold miserable food.
The bar closed to early. in order for us group to sit somewhere to socialize. Lovely venue and rooms and will recommend - taking you own food.

Thank you.

Our travel agent Trailfinders booked us into a barn room (room 16) which is the cheapest option here. If we had realised/had read other reviews we would have upgraded before arrival. We asked to upgrade on seeing the room, as it was quite dark with a patio glass door with a thumb lever latch as the entrance which didn’t feel very secure. There is no safe in the room it’s a drop box at reception which is quite far from the room. Unfortunately the hotel was full the next night (we were staying two nights) so we checked out after one night and booked elsewhere.
To be fair there are extensive grounds, with a reasonable restaurant, 60’s diner and microbrewery on site, so I expect if you book one of the more expensive rooms it’s fine.

If you want a base for four days and do knysna and addo from there you will spend most of your days driving. Tsitsikamma is about 2 hours from Port Elizabeth and 2 hours from knysna, wilderness is a further 45mins from knysna. So to go from Tsitsikamma to wilderness and back will be 6 hours driving alone. If you want to see the best of the garden route and elephants i would suggest spending 4 days in plettenbergbay rather than Tsitsikamma. From Plet it's 45mins to knysna and wildernis 45mins from there. Less than 20mins from plet is at least 2 elephant sanctuaries, an awesome bird sanctuary and a monkey sanctuary, plus a reptile park. You will have plenty to do and to see. Plus you can head out for 30mins towards Tsitsikamma and you will find the stormsriver bridge for bungee. Tsitsikamma village inn is a very nice hotel for a day or 2 but it's a little out of the way if you want to experience the garden route. Lookup a place called The Dunes Resort. This is the best place to stay in the garden route in my opinion. It's a resort with its own private beach. Nice restaurant. Awesome activities for the kids and very safe.
