Part of our nostalgic Garden route trip as we visited South Africa again after 5 years absence. Wonderful venue with stunning views and well appointed accommodation. Room service for dinner was special and breakfast was great
We visited the Fernery Lodge for a weekend to celebrate a 60th birthday. It was the perfect venue and they exceeded all of our expectations. The Fernery Lodge is spectacularly situated and all you see advertised on the website is what you will get... and more. We loved our timber chalet nestled between the trees on the bank of the river. The sound of the waterfalls, a welcoming fire in the fireplace (with enough wood!), and a venue beautifully set up and ready for us on arrival set the scene for a most memorable weekend. The facilities, staff, and service were excellent. No request was too much for them. Diane responded to all questions professionally and made sure that "all were on point" as arranged. Marius and his staff went the extra mile for us. Thank you! Apart from being well trained, they displayed warmth and kindness which you can't teach and it was this special touch that made our stay so memorable. I have no hesitation in recommending the Fernery Lodge for a special weekend away. We will certainly visit again to explore all we did not have time for.…
We had a lovely stay at the Fernery. Service was great, food was delicious and the surroundings were beautiful. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we will be back again. even though it was a cold rainy weekend, we had a log fire burning in our room and underfloor heating which was a winner. Thanks Fernery
We stayed at The Fernery as part of our honeymoon. It was absolutely fantastic, like a childhood dream of staying in a tree house. This tree house though is exceptional! We stayed in one of the chalets, which was gorgeous. It had an outside seating area and a place to BBQ (braai), which we did a couple of times during our stay. Everything is prepared for you and a box arrives around 5pm with everything you might need. My husband is South African and for the second braai he asked if we could have pap and gravy. They didn't have it on the menu but went out specially to buy the maize meal and then the amazing chef, Joanna, brought it down to our chalet. Absolutely outstanding service. All the food was delicious too. They also have jacuzzies with the most wonderful views, and the peace and quiet is just mind healing. Highly recommend The Fernery. …
Fantastic chalet's - Self catering unit with a braai. Lots to see in the area. Good for family and enjoyed the breakfast. Chalet's were clean and neat. Enjoyed being out in nature. Looking forward to another visit.
What a wonderful end to a HARD hike! The staff were extra friendly The chalets beautifully equipped and laid out - bathroom a real place to relax and enjoy Food was super, and the view superb Will definitely visit again when I am next in the Cape
Lovely getaway. Beautiful wooden chalets. We enjoyed using the sauna, pool, jacuzzi and we took our bikes and cycled through the forest to the other side of the gorge. Breakfast is excellent. Restaurant is very good. Monkeys are skilled at getting in so make sure windows are latched when you leave your chalet.
Lovely hotel in terms of views, comfort and food. The food was definitely the best of the 3 hotels we stayed at along the hike so a big shout out to the chef. Unfortunately one of your hotels staff, the driver who packs the vehicle stole roughly R1500 (my roommate withdrew R2000 at airport so thats how I know the value left over). Just before the hike started one of the guides told my roommate that there are plenty of ticks on the trail so he ran and changed quickly. In his rush he left a cellphone, map, and a pile of money on the table. Only the cellphone was returned and the driver later claimed that he did see the money on the table but thought it was a tip for the cleaning staff. A big pile of money as a tip REALLY? and it was next to the cell phone so it was clearly left in error. And then they (guides and driver etc) claim it was misty cliffs who stole the money? Sad that such a renowned trail who also caters for internationals can have dishonest staff working for them. Because Dolphin trail is based at your hotel I also put the blame on The Fernery Lodge & Chalets. Ive heard nothing back from Dolphin Trail Management since the incident even though they were made aware. …
We had an excellent stay at The Fernery. The views are fantastic, well complemented by attentive staff and quality in house dining. Conversing with the owner's was an unexpected added bonus. Looking forward to our next visit.
We loved our stay at the Fernery, from the amazing views of river, waterfalls and ocean from our room and from the dining room deck, to the short walks through the fernery and property, to our beautiful room with tiny balcony, to the delicious food and the over-the-top picnic brought to our room. I will definitely return! I wonder if a different arrangement could be made with the Dolphin Trail so that guests at the Fernery are also able to access the trail?
