loved my stay at the lodge. The staff were all lovely and very friendly which made the stay even more special. The room (Loerie) was quiet, clean and comfortable and the electronic blankets were a great addition. The grounds were absolutely beautiful with great views of the mountains. The breakfast was plentiful, fresh and very tasty. I also appreciated the freshly cooked hot options of eggs, bacon etc. The location is also great within the village which allowed us to walk to dinner each night at various locations and it was a quick drive to the Big Tree and also the National Park. I would highly recommend.

Loved loved loved our stay. The staff so friendly, the breakfast was amazing ! Everything is so clean, and felt extremely safe. Will definitely be coming back soon.

The community braai area is so well organised, and just felt all round at home while being there.

The Travel Lodge is a perfect stopover before travelling on to Eastern/Western Cape. It has clean, comfortable accommodation, a short walk away from restaurants and forest safari tours. A short drive away from a beautiful sea view of the Stormsriver Mouth, a hike in the beautiful Tsitsikama Forest an exciting view of Bloukrans River Valley from the popular 216m Bloukrans bridge, where you can bungee jump or see others jump! Staff at The Village Lodge is friendly and helpful and Andy the cat will drop by to ensure you are OK. 😺 Please pay a little extra for a delicious breakfast to get you ready for the day! 😀👍🏼

. It is fronted by lovely gardens, the beds are heated. The breakfast was the typical one for South African guest houses – fresh fruit and yogurt, eggs (any reasonable style), bacon/sausages, tomatoes, fresh fruit juice/coffee/tea and muffins. The Lodge is at the ideal location for Otter Trail Hikers. That’s the good news. The other news is that the rooms are a bit dingy (extenuated by the stark white color of the LED lighting), and the place reminds me a bit of a somewhat tired motel. It’s also the only lodging we’ve stayed in which doesn’t offer complimentary drinking water (they told us to visit the nearby convenience store).

We had a 2 night stay, on first day our room was not serviced. No beds made, or fresh towels provided, this discovery was made when returning to our room at 19h00 the evening. I could not reach anyone after hours to enquire why these were not done. When questioning this upon check-out, the kitchen staff(no office staff available again) told me they forgot to ask me if i wanted it serviced due to their new covid rules. I had to remind her its common practice to service a room.

There was also confusion regarding cost of breakfast and no office staff were reachable before 10 to confirm. I am a frequent local traveller and have never come across this poor service, not even during covid.

Our stay was relatively good. This is an ideal place for family especially if you have small kids. The staff are very friendly and helpful and really went out of their way to make us comfortable albeit the death by breakfast. The menu REALLY needs to be improved, we stayed there for 5 days and had the same breakfast everyday...there's serious room for improvement. We even had to buy our own ingredients so our kids could have pancakes, thanks for the cook who prepared these for us. The bathrooms can also be improved as the one in my room had mold and looked very worn-out

The stay at the Village Lodge was one of the most pleasant stays we have experienced this year. The accommodation was lovely, pleasant and very comfortable. All the staff made our stay as pleasant as they could. The breakfasts were prepared as we started with fruit and coffee. Quality is in everything they do. Care is their motto and we really felt special.

This was a beautiful spot slap bang in the middle of Storm River. Simone was very helpful in assisting us booking a kayak tour and connecting us with a shuttle driver for national park access. The set up was perfectly nice and clean and the bed very comfortable. The set up has the rooms around a communal kitchen / hang out area and the doors & windows weren’t the best at cancelling out any noise so that would be my only complaint really!

The location is perfect. Close to all activities. Secure private parking is available. The room is perfect for short stay. The rooms need a bit if TLC, but were comfortable. Communal kitchen can be problematic when booking groups but breakfast is served on the premises. Take insect repellent during summer season as there were many mosquitoes in our room.

Our room with the on suite bathroom was spacious and comfortable. The bed was amazing and there was tea/coffee making facilities in your room and in the lapa. There is also a communal kitchen and braai place that guests can enjoy. Great for couples and small families. It was very hot, we only wished that they had a pool! Our TV sounded like it was about to die though.Other than that our breakfast was great and the Lodge was very close to all the fun activities that Storms river has to offer.
