We had a room with a sea view, a private pool and relaxation area. We loved spending time in our pool and enjoying the peace and quiet due to the resort being so small!

The staff were just great, especially Helen and Faith. Everyone here was friendly and talked to you everyday. The food at the restaurant was great and although it was more expensive than most local restaurants, you are paying for the good quality food and creative ways they presented it. Just outside the resort you can rent a scooter for only 200 baht a day and there is also a family that will wash your clothes for 50 baht per kg. It is a great location on the island and you can easily scooter around to Bo Phut, Chaweng and the fisherman’s market on Fridays.

We enjoyed our experience overall and had so many wonderful moments but there were a few problems during our stay like cold water in the shower and one of the cleaning staff came into the room when I was almost naked and didn’t seem to care and didn’t speak hardly any English (I understand it is Thailand but it is a hotel resort and most staff spoke English or had a reasonable level to communicate).

We also had a random drunk German guy wandering into our room in the middle of the night who was lost and came from the resort next door. When we called reception in a panic the night staff brought bug spray with him and we realised he misunderstood what we said as his English was really bad. We had to use translate on our phones at 3am. Not a fun experience. That was super unlucky and we are sure it has never happened before but it ruined a day of our holiday. The staff did deal with the situation within 48 hours and we were happy.

If you are looking for a wonderful small resort to have some peace and quiet with great food, a nice atmosphere, lovely staff and cool cocktails then definitely book your holiday here!

We loved this intimate, small hotel. The peaceful ambience, low mood music and genuine service was a welcome alternative to large corporate hotels. We stayed in room 24; the resort was well lit, no drainage smells during our stay and had a well designed outdoor bathroom with complementary mosquito coils. The restaurant food was well presented and it’s roof design is beautiful. All the guests shared similar values, the tip is to read the description and look at its location. It’s a perfectly acceptable walk of 15 minutes to Choweng Mon or there are flag down or bookable taxi options for those that don’t or can’t walk. The small beach is accessible from three properties, it has no sellers and is a back to nature version of the island. The staff clean up any plastic washed up daily. Swim shoes help but despite rocks it’s perfectly safe and easy to swim at high tide. The infinity pool is lovely and we watched daily yoga classes on the lawn. We also ate locally at Pui nearby to provide variety during our stay. Breakfast includes yoghurt, fruit, meat, cheese, salad, breads, an egg station and daily changeable hot dishes. Fresh coffee and juices. I’m not sure what other reviewers want for a daily breakfast but given the price we paid this met expectations! It’s a gem of a place, sadly in a commercial world these properties are rare. We will return. Thank you to all the staff, you are all wonderful!

Beautiful tranquil beach setting, located within short drive of main shopping malls, markets and restaurants.
Some local restaurants and local massage parlours nearby.

Excellent reliable taxi car or bike hire office with very reasonable rates and also an excellent laundry service a few yards from the hotel entrance.

Resort restaurant has reasonably priced selection of delicious dishes with generous portions and thoughtful friendly staff who go the extra mile to ensure guests feel special.

In house spa, private beach dining experience and cookery course available. Also weekly early morning yoga seesion.

We initially had a one bedroom se shell villa with private pool which was adequate but the bathroom was not to our liking. We upgraded to the 2 bedroom villa with pool which made for an infinitely more pleasant stay.

Beach is rocky so not suited for swimming but picturesque and secluded with pool and sunbeds nicely spaced out on beach front gardens.

For us this was the first time to visit Thailand, but also Asia. After reviewing many resorts we decided to book at Sea Dance resort. Mainly because this was a resort with a real beach and also small scale resort.

We arrived after a 26 hour flight and were warmly greeted with a refreshing drink and a cold towel. We felt right away at home with such a nice warm welcome. Check in was quick and we were shown to our villa. We received Villa Nr. 3 with full ocean view. Also this Villa is the most private one on the resort I think.
The villa is spacious with an outside sitting area with enough big cushions and the villa has its own splashpool. And within 20 meters of the beach and the sounds of the waves.
The bed is comfortable but on the hard side. I like that, but for my partner it was a bit too hard. 1 thing I dont really understand why there is no mosquito net over the bed or at least the possibility to hang one. I came prepared so was able to hang up our own net.
The bathroom is basic but sufficient because its only to shower, the rest of the day you are outside. There were some maintenance issues, but the very friendly staff acted appropriately on our comments on that.
The resort has a pool with some sunbeds, but we didnt use it because we had our own pool. The small beach is nice, but the sand is kinda rough. Also quite high waves so not really swimmable.
Onsite there is also a restaurant and a bar. The included breakfast in the morning is tasty and enough choice. Lots of fresh fruits and juice and also an omelette station. Also some warm options.
The restaurant has a mix of Thai and European dishes on the menu. We only sampled the Thai options and it was very tasty. So not necessary to leave the resort for dinner. 2 nights there was live music and there was also a buffet on wednesday.
Most of the staff is really friendly and accommodating. Also the owners are superfriendly and really nice to talk to.
Can defenitely recommend this resort if you are looking for a calm and relaxing small scale resort.

Our time spent at Sea Dance Resort is sure to be the highlight of our holiday to Thailand. Our room (Number 12) was beautiful with its private pool and large bathroom. The room felt very private which was lovely and had great air con.

Over our 3 night stay, we ate at the resort for every meal as we didn’t want to leave! The room service was fantastic for lunch and we found the prices very reasonable for such a high quality hotel.

The best part of the hotel was the staff. They were all friendly and enthusiastic - we liked that they all knew our names and even whether we liked our food spicy or mild.

I celebrated my birthday when at the resort, and the staff made me feel so special. Lek in particular made my birthday a really memorable day and we could not thank her enough for the care that she took in making my birthday meal a truly magical evening. We would definitely recommend the private dining on the beach experience offered by the resort.

Overall, the resort had everything that we could possibly want. We loved the secluded location and also liked that we were able to walk to 7/11 in a few minutes and also go to the local beach. Thank you to Junior for chatting to us about the surrounding area. We also used the hotel transfer service to the airport which was a similar rate to the taxi we got to the hotel - and very convenient.

Thank you Sea Dance for an amazing getaway!

My partner and I stayed at Sea Dance for 10 days and it was perfect in every way! We were welcomed and shown to our beautiful room with a private pool and roof terrace - it was just what we needed, nice and private, ready for our relaxing trip. Everybody at sea dance was so welcoming and offered advice on where and what we should do while on the island especially John who made our early morning breakfast very cheerful and made our stay extra special. Faith was wonderful always on hand for whatever we needed!! I could not recommend sea dance enough, it is conveniently located, out of the hustle and bustle but a close taxi journey away with a 7/11 walking distance away. Thank you to the entire team and we can not wait to come back to Villa 38.

Ellie and Tom :)

This hotel is so wonderful. The welcome was incredible and probably the best I’ve had at any hotel anywhere in the world before. Our room was stunning and the private pool is a really decent size and was lovely and warm but still cool enough to cool you down on a hot day. The main pool is also lovely.

The restaurant doesn’t have any vegetarian meals however they were very happy to adjust things to make them vegetarian, and the food was really tasty. There was a really good variety of fruit at breakfast too.

The hotel itself is stunning but it’s the staff who really make it. They were so kind and helpful and learnt our names from the second we arrived which was a lovely personal touch. We got engaged while stayed here and got personal congratulations too which was very sweet.

The only things to note aren’t really to do with the hotel but the location. The beach isn’t the kind of beach you can really paddle in or sunbathe on though was really fun for kayaking. If you want a sandy beach you’ll need to walk around 20 minutes to Cheong Mon or drive to Chaweng (which we thought was the prettier of the two). The location is quiet which is lovely but it is quite out of the way so you will need transport to get around. We used Grab’s where possible as they are slightly cheaper than taxis, though all transport was significantly more expensive than on the mainland so you’ll need to budget for that if you’re wanted to get out and about into Koh Samui and find some sandy beaches, shops etc.

Overall we thought the stay was so wonderful that this wasn’t too much of a problem but definitely something to be aware of. Our only regret is that we didn’t stay longer, and in hindsight we would have much preferred a couple more days here and a couple less in the location we moved on to elsewhere in Thailand.

Highly recommend!

What a gem this place is! This family owned boutique resort was the BEST place we stayed at during our entire 3 week vacation in Thailand! We felt at home at the Sea Dance Resort in Koh Sumui. The outstanding accomodations and warm hospitality exceeded our expectations. At arrival, the staff greeted us by our names and during our entire stay, we were treated as friends not just patrons. The resort itself is reminiscent of a resort we stayed at in Bali. Each room is a free standing bungalow with a private pool in front. We felt particularly lucky to stay the bungalow closest to the beach with an ocean view. We stayed with our two young children and the staff set up mattress for each child. Even with the extra beds, the room was spacious and felt luxurious. The beds and pillows were comfortable and the room was very clean. The grounds and landscaping of the resort are amazing. The style and decor are beautiful and chic. We especially loved the main pool and restaurant. We enjoyed the breakfast including the fresh fruit and coffee every morning. Our favorite part of this incredible place is it's location on this very special beach. Being from Hawaii, it's hard to compete with our beaches, but this one is pretty wonderful! We spent hours walking and collecting shells along the shoreline. Our children enjoyed exploring the rocks and kayaking. We appreciated the kayaks and standup paddle boards the resort offered. We would gladly come stay again and recommend this place to our friends. Mahalo to Poy, Junior and the entire staff at the Sea Dance. The love and passion you have put into this place is apparent-what a magical place you have created! Value, location, cleanliness-all 5 STARS! Thank you and aloha, from Hawaii.

Sea Dance is approached down a fairly unprepossessing road, but its charms are unveiled as soon as you arrive at reception. Nature and botanics are to the fore and the staff are unfussy, helpful and affable.
The accommodation was comfortable and I just loved the bathroom area with its combination of good design and nature.
Breakfast was first class - especially welcome was the juice and excellent coffee.
Thankfully there's no loud, thumping music at the resort and the setting is quiet and beautiful.
The sole misstep for me is that I love swimming, but the rocky coast and limited pool meant little opportunity for such activity. Not that this would put me off staying here again. On the contrary, I loved this hotel and definitely plan staying at Sea Dance in 2021.

I always try hard to be positive in my reviews, with Sea Dance I did not have to try hard at all. This is a wonderful, charming resort, a fabulous location, superb accommodation and amenities, great food and to top it all off delightful, friendly, professional staff.
We stayed for five nights. The bungalow was roomy with a deck and splash pool. Sitting out there of an evening with drinks and tropical air was real paradise. Each bungalow is screened by bamboo plants or hedges.
The dining area is an open-air round building with views over the beach out into the Gulf of Thailand. Breakfast was always enjoyable, a smorgasbord and a few plates of breakfast food and a bottomless cup of coffee. Service was always friendly, subtle and efficient.
There is a large pool near the dinning area. I enjoyed an afternoon swim, a read and a snooze. The beach is very rocky and not suitable for swimming. I had a dip at high tide further up the beach.
If you like, you could arrive at the resort and not leave for days and be content with eating in the restaurant lying around the pool or spend lazy days in the privacy of your own bungalow. We hired a bike which gave us the independence to visit interesting sites on the island, eat at different cafes and restaurants and sample Thai beer and cocktails at the various bars. Taxis are available and it is a short walk to the main road where there is a 7/11 and a couple of local eateries. Choeng Mon Beach is nearby, and it is an excellent and safe beach to go swimming.
Poy and his staff are there to make your stay a total pleasure. For me it was a wonderful place to stay and I would recommend.

Hi, Thank you for your question. The bay in front of the resort is rocky and it is known for being tranquil and private. It is not the best for swimming. Choengmon beach is approximately 25 minutes' walk away and it is good for swimming. Feel free to email us for a direct booking special deal or should you require further details. Thank you.
