Gaze over the flood plains and enjoy luxurious solitude on the banks of the Chobe River. Assuring extraordinary experiences, we offer 20 luxury tented chalets. The lodge was inspired by the natural beauty of the landscape and all chalets have been constructed using indigenous Mopane timber and canvas. This offers not only a stunning sight, but an environmentally conscious design. Expect a unique and wondrous experience when visiting the Camp. This region is Namibia’s very own version of the Serengeti and offers a rare experience. With a bit of luck you can see large herds of elephants, buffalo and antelope. Activities may be seasonal, but will always amaze and intrigue our guests. Chobe River Camp is a wildlife and birder’s dream and is the ideal place to break away, just across the river from the world renowned Chobe Nature Reserve, home to one of the largest concentrations of elephant on the African continent. The Camp is also the ideal place for day trips to Victoria Falls, located only 150km away.

On the banks of the Chobe river. As close to the Ngoma gate as you can get. (Which by the way is much better than Kasane. There is hardly any traffic at Ngoma.) The tented chalets are all on the river bank. It is a new camp and is the best kept secret of Katima. The food is great and the staff superb. They have a very nice boma with a large fire. There are Kayaks that you can rent and they also have game and bird watching excursions on a boat on the Chobe river. A house boat that sleeps 4 people can also be rented and you can cruise all the way to Katima with it. We did not have a booking and arrived late in the afternoon. The staff went out of their way to make us comfortable. Electricity is supplied by a generator and solar panels. The shower is always warm. This place is a must for any border crossing in the Ngoma or Kasane area.

Beautifully located right at Chobe River on the edge of Chobe National Park and the border to Botswana. Day trips to the national park from the champ possible (and recommend). Very friendly staff!! Clean basic rooms. If you are afraid of insects, you’ll be fine here (we stayed during the rainy season). Food is delicious but depending on the number of guests, only a limit variety is available. If you’re lucky, you get to see game right from the camp. 4x4 or SUV is recommended to reach the lodge specially after heavy rains. Reasonably priced and did I mention the very friendly and helpful staff?

Great campsite at the river, fantastic view. Staff and management are very friendly and helpfull. Speak a lot of languages. Food in the restaurant was so nice we decided not to cook oursselfs at all. Good bar and great atmosphere. Certainly can recommend the boat cruise.
Campsite was very nice, fire was lit for us, showers also very nice and clean. Swimmingpool is the cleanest we have seen on our travel!

My wife booked in on Wednesday afternoon with an elderly gent taking the booking , saying we had to get there before 10 pm for a meal - I arrived later - on entering Ngoma we went to the lodge via the rear entrance which was horn dogs in itself. Unkept . On arrival we met the elderly guy and a younger guy who was much the worse for wear with alcohol - he instantly ranted that we came in the wrong entrance - and said he had sent his staff home - saying the old guy should not have accepted the booking - so at 8.30 pm we have no where to stay - the old guy said you can exit via the front main entrance if in a 4 x 4 - we proceeded to that entrance about 1 km down the road which was flooded we got our vehicle stuck in the mud - I called the lodge for help - the old guy said they couldn't come out !i said what now then ? He admitted we was there because of him but wouldn't help - then we called a person who came to help from town - several local guys also came out the bush and helped . I called a lodge in Katima who gladly helped and kept open for us to arrive- so after a horrendous time we ended in Katima at 11.25 pm. And slept at Caprivi River Lodge whom where magnificent - so my advice is this guy has a very bad attitude , drunk and abusive - I would not go there if I was you ! There are many decent people in Katima with beautiful lodges , cleaner , better access , better maintained and finally with decent people owning and running them - this mad is a very Bad Guy !

Dear Dave, the younger guy was me (the owner) and my father was the elderly guy. As per the sign the lodge is and was close due to renovations and only open again on the 16th of February. My father said we can help, but you should be at the lodge before 20:00 for dinner. At 21:00 I told the staff they can go home (this is on the attendance register) and you only got to the lodge at 21:30. I told you that the kitchen was close and that the staff went home. Yes I was not happy the way you drove into the lodge as you drove on the walkway, over all the drain pipes and stopped at the office, you ignored the poles and signs. Regarding your allegation that I was drunk, I was working, but if I remember correctly you and the lady smelled of alcohol when you opened the car window. Was this you wife or a lady that you picked up? You also did not phone me or my father later that night. Trip adviser why do you allow people to post comments on your site that did not stay at the lodge and that has personal issues?

This was a very beautiful setting, far off from any other tourists or camps, the main building was really spectacular. Our chalet was awesome, modern, clean, private deck with lounge chairs facing the river. Suited better for couples though than friends. The food was some of the best we had in Africa, 3 course meals, and Bevan the bartender was great. Nice little relaxing pool too, perfect for the heat of the mid-afternoon. Shawn was really cool and accommodating letting us use his computer, and Charmaine had great email communications setting this all up.

But do realize that this is not actually in Chobe National Park, it is across the river in Namibia, by Ngoma; so depending on where you are coming from, you likely have to cross a border. So we were told that in rainier, wetter seasons the entire area floods and wildlife (especially elephants) are everywhere. Now this said, we came in dry season we saw no animals from the camp itself. We did see elephants, zebra, waterbuck and impala on the game drive, but be aware the drive isn't actually in Chobe Park; so the wildlife you see is likely more limited. I'm sure they can easily arrange something in the actual Chobe NP if you wanted though. I hate to say it, but the "nature walk" was really nothing special at all, the guide was informative, but we really only walked around the immediate camp area and saw no wildlife other than birds, so pay for a 2nd boat or game drive rather than the walk.

I did use Puku Safaris for transport to the area, as I found it more economical and they offer some great safaris in the actual park in the Kasane area of Bostwana, before we head out to the camp itself (about an hour from Kasane, mainly because of crossing the border). So yes, beautiful place, really nice and away from it all for sure, but not quite the safari I had envisioned.

We were very pleasantly surprised by our stay at Camp Chobe. It surpassed our expectations on all fronts.

The tented accommodation was very luxurious, the bed extremely comfortable, and it provided quite a lot of privacy from the other tents. Each tent is right along the river, and you could either watch the wildlife from your private deck or from the lodge bar.

The food was also very good, as well as the service at both breakfast and dinner.

As far as activities are concerned, we did a walk and sunset boat trip with our guide Alex. Lots of bird life and general game, as well as hopes of spotting a leopard that had been seen in the area over the past couple days. Alex was extremely knowledgable, passionate, friendly, and a lot of fun. The quality of the guide can make or break a trip, and he definitely did not disappoint.

We would highly recommend Camp Chobe, and hopefully will be able to return some day.

Everyone was so welcoming when we arrived, after we had negotiated the way in without much in the way of signs. We signed in for our stay in the camp site and were given no instructions about getting to the camping area.... so we assumed we should follow the one signpost that indicated the way. The track looked very wet but as that was the signed way we went for it.... and got stuck. We got help and after one of their vehicles got stuck helping us, eventually a tractor saved us all. However, both ourselves and the vehicle were covered in stinking mud and we felt a visit from someone from the Lodge - with an apology - would have been good customer service!! Nobody bothered. During the afternoon and through the night we could hear loud music thumping away and shouting from a party in local settlement - which completely spoiled what should have been a tranquil site by the Chobe River. As well as that we were woken during the early hours of the morning by several gun shots.
Not at all a nice place to stay at all.

We stayed at the Lodge in early December. What a disappointment. Dinner is not worth the amount payed, very expensive (no alcohol included)
For NS363 you will get:
Dry fish
Dry rice
Vegetables.

Breakfast is served from 07:00-09:00, but by 07:45 they were not ready to serve breakfast. Very rude female staff at the restaurant.

Wanted to order lunch but the female staff was not very happy about us asking some questions since the wifi was back on and we were wasting their time since they wanted to be on their phones. Female staff was making rude comments about our questions in their language, gossiping about guests.

Male staff on the other hand was very friendly and helpful. A special thank you to Albius who was really friendly, kind, caring and always had a smile on his face (give that man a raise). Went for a game drive with Baxter and Samuel and this was the only thing worth spending money on at Chobe River Camp. If you do go on a game drive please ask for these two men.

Lunch menu is very expensive and is made with minimum ingredients or effort. Even more expensive than gourmet food but not nearly as well prepared.

It takes 1 hour for them to make one Margherita pizza with feta. NS 55 for a very very very small portion of chips. Can't complain about the restaurant service since there is no service.

Visited a few lodges and this is by far the worst one, Chobe River Camp will not see us again. Don't waste your money on this lodge it is not worth it.

Continuing with our 21 days odyssey through Namibia, we arrived at Chobe River Camp at midday ... and as usual during Covid time, very few guests were at the camp...
We, two ladies from California, loved the comfort, the elegant simplicity and solitude of the camp... it was truly a pleasure to sit back, raise our feet and look out, for a couple of hours, across the river toward Botswana 's. Chobe National Park ...and then later in the afternoon, we went on a river cruise which was truly exceptional ...
After staying at many premium lodges of the Gondwana collection ...experiencing this glam camp was a highlight on our self-drive tour through Namibia ....
We had the best sleep at the camp even though we were abruptly awaken by the growl of hyenas and grunt of hippos .... Dinner ... breakfast were all top ...
We just wish we had more than 1 night at the camp to truly enjoy the adventurous wondrous of this area of Namibia ...
In the morning , we were nicely surprise to find out that our rental 4x4 Toyota Fortuner were newly wash and ready for us for our next leg of our journey ...
Absolutely the best top service ... we received from Gondwana . Audrey Bock, our travel consultant, who graciously and timely, in a matter of 2 weeks time , put together for us , the most wonderful itinerary, premium transportation and premium accommodations... for our entire 3000 miles road trip in Namibia .... and furthermore, ...without breaking the bank 😉and jeopardizing our children inheritance 😄

We have a good vibe about this place.
The only reason to find s th to complain about is that ac is not a good idea for the tents.
Manager and her well trained staff who where always cooperate with the customers. Made a staying very nice and lovely.
The game drive is a great idea due to the fact that guides are very motivated and nice.
We come to the right place and meet hopefully Heidi again 😊
Kind regards Kai and Claudia
