Value
Gaze over the flood plains and enjoy luxurious solitude on the banks of the Chobe River. Assuring extraordinary experiences, we offer 20 luxury tented chalets. The lodge was inspired by the natural beauty of the landscape and all chalets have been constructed using indigenous Mopane timber and canvas. This offers not only a stunning sight, but an environmentally conscious design. Expect a unique and wondrous experience when visiting the Camp. This region is Namibia’s very own version of the Serengeti and offers a rare experience. With a bit of luck you can see large herds of elephants, buffalo and antelope. Activities may be seasonal, but will always amaze and intrigue our guests. Chobe River Camp is a wildlife and birder’s dream and is the ideal place to break away, just across the river from the world renowned Chobe Nature Reserve, home to one of the largest concentrations of elephant on the African continent. The Camp is also the ideal place for day trips to Victoria Falls, located only 150km away.

The boat trip with Nelson was the highlight. We took the 3 Hour sunset boat cruise on both days. We saw a lot of elephants and crocodiles and he even showed us lions and hyenas! This was our first time during April and the River was full so you can cruise next to the Botswana border. Food was very good!

we arrived at the camp to stay there one night. it was fantastic. the camp sites are clean and the "huts" with bathrooms & kitchen were great! the main building is fantastic and looks directly onto the water. what makes this place special is of course the chobe & chobe park. we did a sundowner cruise and saw many animals. fantastic.

Beautiful place with the most friendliness staff. We had a wonderful stay. Did not see much, but it was in the dry season, most animals move more to the greener pastures. so understandable. kids enjoyed the swimming pool and we had a relaxing time.

Very beautiful campsite, with your own tent, table, chairs, shower and toilet. We had some chill days and could fully enjoy them. Staff is nice, apart from the insects everything super. Sadly the roads were a bit bad, but that's normal in Namibia.

Nice campground with a beautiful view over the river bed. As we arrived we saw about 25 elefants going past the camp towards the water.
The toilets and the water in the shower have a funny smell.
Nice bar area with very slow Internet, depending on size of people online.
Someone either from inside or the nearby village was in need of 2 expensive Fjällraeven pants and from another group stole a pj pants from inside the tent. Those pants were hanging outside to dry and we left the campsite for max 15 minutes to itself.

Its not the first BUT THE THIRD TIME stuff vanished at that camp. Bad reputation! Be safe! Lock all your belongings!

I am glad you enjoyed Camp Chobe. The campsite belong to the conservancy and because of problems we decided to help and to up lift the campsite. I am sorry about the stealing it is a problem lately, but lucky with the help of the conservancy and the police they caught the thieves and they are now behind bars.

My husband and I camped at Camp Chobe for 4 nights and it was fantastic!
Norman, the manager and Lucy, who works at reception, are two of the nicest young people you will ever meet.
The campsite is right on the river and you can see Elephants coming down for a drink from the Botswana side. The camp is managed very well with clean ablutions and plenty of hot water.
The only little niggle we had was that the campsite's boat launching facilities are used by big game hunters when arriving and departing on hunting trips. While we were there, an American tourist had shot and lost a crocodile. They went back the next day with grappling hooks to try and find it - luckily they didn't. That would not be something I would like to see. We saw many crocodiles on the banks of the river during our boat trips. One can get really close to them so there is absolutely no skill or thrill to kill these stunningly beautiful creatures. The mind boggles at some so-called humans.

Dear Yvonne Thank you for your review, I am glad you enjoyed Camp Chobe and the campsite and the staff. I am very sorry to hear about the hunters, but I am glad you have brought this to my attention. I will print this and show it to Ministry of Tourism and the local Conservancy. If you have more to add please send me a mail to the lodge e-mail address. It is a pity that some so-called humans have no respect for wild life, I agree it boggles the mind! I hope you review will have an impact, as this was not a legal hunt. Hope to see you again on the Chobe, we are busy upgrading the campsite.

Excellent restful 4 nights camped under an enormous mahogany tree with no-one too close. Ablution was clean, open to the stars, good hot water from a donkey boiler, true camp style.
We highly recommend the boat afternoon trip when the water is high enough, and did this trip several times. We saw every kind of animal close up from the boat and bird life is extraordinary. Max, was so informative and interesting which was such a bonus. Thousands of Pratnicoles flying low over the water -- amazing sight.Sunset and reflections as we headed home will never be forgotten -- STUNNING. Africa at its best.
The tented chalets look awesome too, each on waters edge.
