Value
Gaze over the flood plains and enjoy luxurious solitude on the banks of the Chobe River. Assuring extraordinary experiences, we offer 20 luxury tented chalets. The lodge was inspired by the natural beauty of the landscape and all chalets have been constructed using indigenous Mopane timber and canvas. This offers not only a stunning sight, but an environmentally conscious design. Expect a unique and wondrous experience when visiting the Camp. This region is Namibia’s very own version of the Serengeti and offers a rare experience. With a bit of luck you can see large herds of elephants, buffalo and antelope. Activities may be seasonal, but will always amaze and intrigue our guests. Chobe River Camp is a wildlife and birder’s dream and is the ideal place to break away, just across the river from the world renowned Chobe Nature Reserve, home to one of the largest concentrations of elephant on the African continent. The Camp is also the ideal place for day trips to Victoria Falls, located only 150km away.

Chobe River Camp in Namibia was a pleasant surprise for us. Although the advertisements say the campsites are not along the river, our campsite, number 1, overlooked the river. We could see herds of buffalo across the river in Botswana.
The ablution is outstanding. Amenities are very good, as most campsites of Gondwana, and there is hot water.
The locals' cattle sometimes graze on the grass, but there was a security guard who looked out for us at night. The campsites are far from the Lodge's reception, but it was very private.

Nice location, with large independent tent-rooms looking onto the Chobe lagoon, with full equipment. However dining is basic, and activities are restricted to river cruises. We had poor experience when having reservation through the lodge personnel for cross-border Chobe National Park visit, as there were omissions and errors which compelled us to change plans and to pay cash directly to the company.

We absolutely loved our stat at Chobe River Camp. The chalets are very clean and comfortable, raised above the river, with great views. Ideal for bird watching. The staff were friendly and professional. There was a nice selection for breakfast (no buffet due to covid) and the dinner was tasty and enormous. I can highly recommend the sundowner cruise, as most of the game is on the Botswana side of the river. The Chobe river must be the best river for game viewing from the boat. It was very quiet, as very few people can travel during lockdown. We were very privileged to be there. Loved it and hope to be back.

A great lodge, very beautifully situated. The tent is spacious and well equipped. We only had trouble with the hot water. Very atmospheric, comfortable and excellent dinner in the garden on the bank of the river and by the open fire
Friendly and helpful staff and excellent guides for various tours like a game drive or canoeing. A place to return to.

Down a very bumpy track you arrive at Chobe River Camp . Tents elevated on stils a good distance apart from each other give wonderful views of the flood plain of the river. Sunset cruises are particularly good and the bird life is prolific. Add in good food served by staff keen to do a good job and it all makes for a very pleasant stay.

Firstly, we were abandoned at the airport, having paid for our airport transfer. After 2 hours, we had to pay taxi drivers to take us to the lodge. Our arrival was pleasant, the receptionist Beauty apologised and all seemed well. Other than her and Enoch, our canoe guide, everyone else’s attitude towards service was poor.
Drinks orders were wrong, and I got eye rolls when I tried to correct them. Table mats and glasses were often dirty and food was served cold.
On our second last day, I enquired about our airport transfer to ensure no issues would arise and Beaven not only lied on the phone about the initial mistake, but became incredibly hostile and patronising with me. Only when my finance got involved did he change his tone.
Sufficed to say, we has to arrange our own airport transfer despite having prepaid for it.

If you can, avoid this lodge all together. They leave a LOT to be desired.

Beautiful location, a little difficult to find the way as there is just one sign at the main road. Plain tented camps, but with all You need. Nice swimmingpool wit panoramic view and homely outside dining area. Great boat trips at the river, especially when the river is high (march), lots of animals can be seen a the river bank.

We have very fond memories of our stay at Chobe River Camp! The facility is very idyllic on the Chobe River, the tent accommodation was very nice, spacious and clean. The boat safari in the evening was fantastic with wonderful animal sightings! But we were absolutely overwhelmed by the willingness to help, especially from Bruno! I had forgotten my e-book at the last lodge about 200km away and Bruno made sure I got my e-book back the next day.
No one wanted anything in return, the least we could do was buy some school bags for the village children. Thanks a lot!

They are situated right against an overflow of the Chobe river and in flood, the area must be stunning: In summer however, the overflow is mostly dry and the Namibian side is a cattle grazing ground. On the other side is the Chobe National Park with an abundance of wildlife seeking water and grazing. The camp is thus well situated and the individual chalets privately spaced out, looking into nature. I found the staff not too eager to impress and the buffet dinner definitely not impressive. Both definitely not the normal Gondwana standard.

We spent a night at Camp Chobe. Great scenery and we saw a few animals. The place was clean and the staff were friendly. The food was a bit of a let down, no buffet (some generic menu and not a lot of options) . We didn't enjoy dinner at all, cause there was a cat roaming around in the restaurant area. My daughter was crying and jumpy every time it came around our table, we actually had to leave earlier then we were planning to. We were not informed beforehand that there are cats roaming around, had we known that we would have gone elsewhere.

Good day Thank you very much for sharing your review with us. We are glad that you enjoyed your overall stay, we have communicated the presence of cats at our lodges with the team. Please note that the cats are part of the lodge ecosystem, and are well-behaved. We will, however, ensure that they stay away from the kitchen and dining area. We look forward to welcoming you again, sometime in the future. Kind regards Elke
