Anemos Luxury Grand Resort garners praise for its immaculate rooms and pristine pools, with guests particularly appreciating the well-maintained grounds. Its prime location near the beach is acclaimed, though some guests suggest the walk to town can be a bit of a trek. The resort's ambience strikes a fine balance between opulence and homeliness, creating a sophisticated yet inviting atmosphere.
While opinions on value vary, with some pointing out additional costs, the array of amenities, including family-friendly entertainment, consistently receives high marks. However, there's occasional feedback on room maintenance and sporadic service efficiency.

Detailed Reviews
Hotel's Favourite
We were return visitors, loved it last year and loved it again this year. Could write screeds but will try to keep it short..
Food - fantastic! We were AI, included restaurant visits too, choice of 5! Buffet also has a great selection across the board! You can eat like royalty every meal! Tip: Pack stretchy clothes! Lol!
Resort - incredibly well maintained, everywhere is cleaned to the highest standards. The gardens as you walk around are beautiful.
Room - loved our room! Cleaned every day, beds made, floors mopped, our housekeeper was fantastic (room 4127).
Pools/ beach - again (spot the theme) you have a great choice and everything is kept wonderfully clean! There's the Aqua Park pools for kids and activities, then the pools near reception where you can still play ball, take in a lilo etc, but no organised activities. Loads of comfy sunbeds, also at the beach. The sea was too choppy 2 of our days, but we loved the water the days we could get in.
We didn't use the kids club, we like to use our holidays to spend time together, but the mini disco was great hit with the kids!
Staff - again, where to start. Such a hard working team and some familiar faces from last year. Everyone was absolutely brilliant with us. Our child has contact allergies and the staff are absolutely key in all the help and information they share with us. Special call outs go to..
Djamal! He was so, so lovely, helpful, warm and friendly. By the end of the week it felt like we were saying goodbye to a friend! Thank you Djamal, you really did help make our stay wonderful!
Katarina and Sjdianna (sp - sorry!) In the buffet restaurant, looked after us so well, thank you!
Stella at reception in conjunction with the housekeeping went that extra mile with helping with the allergy situation.
Our transfer driver on our return, he chatted away with us and the time (about 50 minutes to Chiana airport) just flew!
Anemos really is a fantastic destination and I absolutely, without hesitation recommend it!

We were astounded by the great welcome and hostility of this beautiful Resort.
Starting with the greatly looked after Resort itself, our experiences only got better.
The generous room had beautiful furniture, including very comfortable beds, a big bathroom with a shower and a bath tub (separated) and the best working air conditioning of all times. The cleanliness of the provided bed sheets, towels and the room overall was particularly noteworthy.
The pool area and the pool itself that was connected to our room as well as the big pool area were greatly cared for the entire time of our stay.
One of our highlights was the beach, which was also greatly looked after and provided us with a beautiful restaurant with a view for late breakfast and lunch. Throughout the whole daytime a lifeguard made sure we were safe to swim in the ocean.
The hotel-owned gym was fully equipped with all kinds of different high quality equipment. Since it was really hot outside, we were relieved to see that the gym also had an air conditioning, which also worked flawlessly. Due to COVID there was a plan of utilization for the gym and SPA area, to make sure all of the COVID hygiene standards are met; great organisation!
The provided food and restaurant are worth highlighting. Anemos Luxury Resort had a wide choice of freshly cooked food and lovely decorations of the food itself. We were offered three meals in the hotel-owned Greek restaurant for free and enjoyed our meals there by far the most.
But the most outstanding part of our stay was the friendly, welcoming and courteous staff. Even though they wore protective face masks at all times (!!) we could still see their smiles from within their eyes at any time. Our lovely hostess Aristea and the whole team provided outstanding service. We have never witnessed such friendliness, politeness, open-minded perspective and such a welcoming feeling of the staff, but never intrusive. They made it their mission to fulfill every wish of ours and put great effort into making it possible for us.
We would highly recommend Anemos Luxury Resort to everyone who is looking for outstanding service, a luxurious experience and privacy.
We’ll be back!

We have just returned from 7 fabulous nights at this stunning hotel.
The staff cannot do enough to be helpful ( especially Katherina who was so friendly and looked after us well)It is lovely to be greeted by welcoming staff before meals and to have such helpful and courteous reception staff.
The hotel is spotless and extremely Covid aware with all staff wearing masks and surfaces, floors, sun beds etc constantly being sanitised.
Great location as it was easy to catch the bus to Rethymno ( 3 euros and approx 20 minute journey) and also Chania (Old Venetian harbour) which was 4 euros and approx 45 minutes by bus- both not to be missed.
We walked into both nearby villages- Georgepolis one way and Kavros the other.
Looking forward to visiting again- Thank you Anemos 👍

As the review said, wish I could give this 4.5 Stars. Let me start out by saying we came the first week of August, pretty soon after Covid re-opening. This place was amazing in that regards. Everyone in the staff wore masks, there was hand sanitizer in every place and the staff really worked very hard to make you feel safe and healthy. Huge thank you to that.
The staff was actually amazing all around. The waiters at breakfast and dinner were fantastic. The sommelier knew his wines and could help you find Greek wines that would fit your palate and the folks doing the entertaining at night were great.
The beach area is world class, its a little protected by a cove. A short walk to both
Rethimno and Georgioupoli. We visited a few other beaches in Crete during our stay and this was the nicest by far.
The food was good not great. The breakfast was actually great, 5 stars. The dinners (We did half board) were good, a little repetitive and the fish restaurant down by the beach wasnt as special as we were told. But for what you are getting I really had no complaints on the food.
Only reason for not 5 star was it misses a little character for being in Crete, its a little cookie-cutter and can be a little bit of a snooze fest at times. Not enough to not recommend this, but I think 5-star resort for this cost needs to truly be 5 star and this isnt quite that.

We visited the hotel with my parents as two adults to spend time as a family. The hotel has a very nice and special design. The pool landscape is beautiful as well as the beach with sunbeds and comfortable lies.
It offers an outstanding buffet with a variety of local and international food as well as four restaurants. In addition every type of diet or food allergy is taken care of within the main buffet (e.g. gluten free, low carb, ect.). The chef is well known nation-wide and takes care that the food is mostly supplied by local farmers and shops.
Very special and outstanding is the variety of wines one the menu. As wine lovers we tried wines of all different tastes and prices, recommended by the sommelier who has deep expertise and understanding of combining the different wines with the food. Compared to other luxury hotels this is an outstanding service.
As a familiy with four adults each person was happy and satisfied and we were able to also take time on our own e.g. in the gym or a run around the hotel (approx. 1.1 km each round)
The staff is very friendly and mostly fluent in different languages. The reception staff could be more helpful in case of incidents or issues. One get the feeling they are little bit helpless in those situations and don’t manage to offer any kind of solution.
All in all I can recommend the hotel. They were taking good care to be COVID-19 compliant, keep distance and organise disinfection.

I don't find the time to write reviews very often but this time I feel it was such a great experience that I have to share it. I travelled with my parents and two 2 years old kids.
The hotel has a great location, next to a large sandy beach with fine sand and clear waters. Excellent for small kids. They have a beach bar and fish restaurant right on the beach. The only inconvenience is that you have to cross the main road, through a tunnel to reach the beach, but it's only a 5min walk. They also have some electric cars that you can take but they are not always there. The reception area is nice and clean, with lots of space for kids to run and play, some shops and a bar where you can serve lunch when it's too hot outside.
The main restaurant offers tasty, varied food. Each evening there were a couple of fish or seafood dishes to choose from. Different types of meat also, even duck. For desert, there were many types of fruits each evening. They had fresh papaya, passion fruit, mango, strawberries, cherries, melon, to name a few of the less popular ones. The staff was very nice, friendly with the kids and they always tried to find us a table very fast and accommodate all our needs.
We also tried to the fish restaurant. The food was amazing, but way too much :)
We got a room at the ground floor, with garden view, close to the restaurant ares. The room was clean, with modern furniture and all the amenities to make you feel comfortable. The girls got baby cots and they were large enough to accommodate even though their height is 100 cm :) They only inconvenience here is that the coffee capsules you get are not Nespresso, although the coffee machine is Nespresso. After the first two capsules, you pay extra for the capsules, which is ok, but it would have been nice to get the original Nespresso ones.
The staff was incredibly nice and they attended to all our needs (and we had a few, given that we travelled with two small kids).
I also arranged a private photo session for the kids on the beach with the photographer that collaborates with the hotel and the result was stunning, beyond expectations. He is very talented and good with kids, especially shy ones :) It's totally worth the effort and money.
I will definitely return to this hotel in the years to follow, I hope it will be as well managed as it was this year.

We are currently staying at Anemos after a last minute holiday change due to Covid.
The resort is architecturally very nice but it is severely lacking in atmosphere or soul.
We are staying one of the bigger suites with a large pool and I can’t fault the rooms. They are a good size, nicely decorated and the pool we have is one of the bigger ones.
On paper it looks like the perfect resort but something just doesn’t quite work. I have found the service to be below par with some of the staff being quite rude and surly and some just totally useless. I didn’t find them particularly accommodating and didn’t feel they really wanted to go the extra mile for the guests.
The food is repetitive, and due to being quite remote (20 mins to Rethymno which is €32 each way) you are very limited to where to eat. The buffet is ok but nothing spectacular, the Asian restaurant is passable but I wouldn’t eat there again, the Italian restaurant was closed and the Greek restaurant was basic Greek fare. The staff at the fish restaurant in the beach were fantastic but the food is the same every night. It’s not what I would call 5 star at all but if you like a resort with all you can eat buffets then you may enjoy it.
I tired to organise things through the concierge but found them a bit unhelpful and limited information passed to us about the things we did book. We booked a private boat trip but no information was given to us and we had no idea where to go or who we were meeting. My experience of 5 star hotels and what the concierge offers is to go above and beyond for their guests, they definitely don’t here.
The resort is very limited in what it offers, I found it incredibly boring. After the show which finishes at 10.30 that’s it. Nothing else is on offer and so you find yourself going to be bed as there are no other options.
I don’t think you can really advertise the odd selection of little shops as a shopping arcade either.
I think that I am used to a very different level of service and what warrants 5 star in other cities and hotels is not the same here. I would put this at 4star but only just. It’s a shame as it could be a good resort but it has a long way to go.

An excellent hotel in a beautiful location. The facilities are excellent, we had 2 garden facing rooms with en-suite bathrooms. There is a central pool area and a beach, in addition many rooms have private or shared pools, and there is a small water park with its own pool and slides for adults and a kiddie pool with smaller slides.
The food was excellent with a broad choice of dishes in the main restaurant. We were there on a half board basis, as we planned to take day trips, if you’re planning to spend most of your time at the resort the all inclusive deal is worth it.
There are a number of a la carte restaurants to choose from, but we didn’t try them as the choice in the main restaurant was fantastic, the menus at the restaurants looked very appealing and I’m sure they live up to the general high standard as the main restaurant.
The hotel is ideally located for trips to nearby sights such as lake Kournas, Chania, Lappa Agioupolis etc. The staff are on hand to provide explanations about excursions and to make bookings, very helpful.
The evening entertainment activities (animations) were a mixed bag, some were decent and some less, but it was nice sitting outside by the pool in the evening breeze with a cocktail.
One negative, from a non smoker’s perspective; our room was supposed to be a non smoking room, but it was obvious from the ashtrays on the patio and strong smell of generations of smokers in the room that this was never enforced and was more of a recommendation.
This was our first time in Crete and when booking we didn’t realise how large the island is, I’d highly recommend that you fly in to Chania airport rather than Heraklion as the airport at Heraklion is about 100 Kms from and transfer bus takes over two hours to reach the resort, not exactly the most relaxing start to a holiday, Chania airport is much closer to Anemos, only about 40 Kms away.

This is and excellent resort in a quiet area of Crete where we stayed for a week in a 'Deluxe Room - Garden View' on their All Inclusive package. Our room was at the front of the hotel overlooking the main road, beach and sea. The road can be busy but the soundproofing in the room was good so this was never an issue. The rooms are of a high standard and the All Inclusive package is excellent with a choice of 3 meals at the 4 * A la Carte restaurants per week plus the main buffet restaurant with a huge selection of quality food. The resort is modern, immaculately presented and well maintained. The beach is fantastic with a plentiful supply of sun loungers and a great beach bar. The village of Georgioupolis is a 20-30 minute walk up the beach and is worth a visit. A special mention to all of the staff who go out of their way to make you feel welcome! Highly recommended and we will definitely return to this resort.

The whole Resort and its restaurants/labaratories are very clean and of high quality. Our room with private pool was very nice and clean although certain covid-19 restrictions were in place. We mainly ate in the main buffet restaurant (Meltemi). All the service stuff is incredibly friendly and perform an outstanding service. Dimitris and his expertise on (greek) wines is just perfect on Top of this. The food was of high quality and was amazingly tasty. A broad variety of different meals of different cultures were served, though cretan/greek food is in the focus. The same is true for the beach bar/restaurant (Sirocco). Amazingly friendly staff and high qualiy service directly at the beach. We were truly statisfied and left crete with a smile. Our 5 year old daughter loved it as well. The Mini Club and Sofia sometimes took care of her. Great Service! She loved it and liked Sofia a lot. Last but not least the reception/page stuff does everything to make the guest feel relaxed and takes care of everything. We definitely will come back next year - at latest. Regards from Switzerland. Benjamin

The main restaurant Meltemi, caters for a range of tastes & diets, they don’t take reservations there. You get to book & dine in 2 of the AI Al la carte restaurants but they are set menus so check with concierge before making a reservation & they’ll share the menus for each establishment with you so you can decide whether your dietary needs can be catered for! The food is outstanding!
