I am living in the US and when I come to South Africa safety is very important to me. There is a high wall with electric fences on top all around the property so our car was safe inside. The room was spotless and welcoming. There are enough plugs to charge our phones and to use the hairdryer right in front of the mirror. (That is not always the case at other guest houses). Comfortable bed and clean bedding. Really good coffee. The owners made us feel comfortable without being overpowering. I will definitely come back. I can honestly give them 5 stars.

The place is calming and refreshing, to top it off the service l received from the owners is heart warming . Their food is amazing. Great service from friendly hosts. Excellent food. Room spacious and cleanliness and maintenance to very high standard. Amenities in general of high quality with LAAARGE HD televisions in most rooms. Privacy not great, but this is a guesthouse. Location OK, but be prepared to travel through town (Middelburg) to/from the main highway.

Driving into Middelburg from the East, one immediately realises that this is a heavy industrial town with steel works and coal mines. The town centre is busy and very interesting and there are lots of shops offering a large range of goods. If you want to shop in the American-style mall, then go to the Mall at Witbank, directly on N4, which is 25 minutes from Middelburg centre.

The Lamor Guest house is on the northern side of town, the opposite side to the N4, in a housing estate and is easy to find. The area around the house looks safe and the present owners, Gertjan and Dewetia, took over the bed and breakfast house three years ago and have improved the facilities. The guest house is walled and has off street parking (preferably for smaller cars). The small garden is in excellent condition and if you are up before breakfast, it is very relaxing to start the day just sitting out at the back and watching the sun come up, as the birds start their busy day. Apparently, the facilities are also regularly used by national and international business people doing work for the mining companies, so the rooms are suitable for longer stays. It also means you are not just among tourists all the time. One change that Gertjan and Dewwtia have made, is the addition of a large lounge extension so that guests are able to sit together in the evening and chat about their day’s adventures

There are five rooms to rent with everything in that you require. They open directly onto the garden therefore there are no stairs to climb. The bed we had was good; the bathroom was in an excellent condition; the fridge and flat screen television were new. The bedroom, eating area and lounge was extremely clean and tidy. The towels were scented with something, which might be a problem for people with allergies.

If you are a middle-to-light sleeper there is one problem that you should be aware of: there is a lot of truck movement in the town, due to the heavy industry and the Lamor Guest House is located quite close to a road that has a lot of truck traffic. We had difficultly sleeping at night, even with the windows closed. It is unfortunate and won’t affect everyone, but it was disturbing to us, as we were trying to rest after a day of travelling.

The owners are extremely friendly and obviously enjoy their looking after guests and running their bed and breakfast business. The evening meal that we pre-booked was good, as was the cooked breakfast. We had an interesting stay because the owners told us quite a bit about the background to the development of the town and the area around Middelburg.

Words alone cannot describe the high quality of the rooms and grounds. We(a group of 6 Canadian adults) stayed in three rooms. The owners made us feel very welcome from the time of our arrival until we departed. The breakfast was exceptional. The rooms were new, large and very clean. The grounds were perfectly manicured.

Our beautifully appointed room, extensive facilities and secure parking made this a great stopover on the way to the airport. The magnificent breakfast was served in a very tasteful and comfortable setting.

Rooms are beautifully decorated with everything you could possibly want.
Breakfast is excellent, a good choice and well cooked.
We do B & B ourselves in the UK, it a lot of way's Lamor is very similar to ours, and we felt very at home.
Thank you Dewetia and Gert-Jan for a most enjoyable stay

My second visit to Lamor Guesthouse and I was warmly welcomed like an old friend returning to visit. The hosts (Dewetia and Gert-Jan) are truly excellent hosts who ensured that my every need was seen to.

During my initial stay at Lamor - I was truly impressed by the manner in which the Guesthouse perfectly suited the needs of the business person (spacious desk tops / multiple plugs etc).

Visiting the establishment during winter - Dewetia recommended that I rather try one of their newly upgraded rooms which has a bath! Beautifully decorated and spacious room, modern furnishings, a large desk top , comfortable office type leather chair that adjusts to your needs, a huge flat screen TV etc)

The bathroom is breathtaking - (spacious with both shower and Cleopatra bath) I thoroughly enjoyed soaking in the bath - and getting into a warm bed with electric blankets.

Breakfast was tasty and enjoyable!

Lamor comes highly recommended! This is my place of choice whenever I do business in the Middleburg area!
