We were a party of five travelling on a road trip to KZN. We picked Aloe Grove for its situation out of the town which was a very good choice. The service received was really great and we were all made very welcome. The rooms were neat, clean and well provided. We all agreed that should we again be in the area for a nights stopover, we would definitely return.

As a large group we camped at Aloe Grove and it was good. The private ablutions were spotless and are always a bonus on a camping trip. Power and water were easily accessible. Security was good. Staff were all very pleasant. Would stay again if we were in the area.

I needed somewhere to sleep over in Queenstown, but I think Aloe Grove could be a destination by itself. Isolated, but not in a way that you will need a 4x4 to get there.

It is real pity that I could net get to explore much of the surrounding hiking trails.

I had to get antibiotics for spider bites on my arm and leg. We stayed for two months at Aloe Grove. Photos added is of the spiders was taken within a time frame of 29 September to 7 October 2014 just after I was bitten and assured by Aloe Grove that they fumigated the place that we are staying at.

Cons:
* Almost no cellphone signal (calls/sms/data)
* No WIFI
* 20km outside of Queenstown (10km dirt road)
* Lots of spiders (nesting above sleeping areas as well as kitchen roof)
* Bats flying around and nesting in kitchen area in one building
* Have to reset the electricity and geyser twice a day to have hot water in one of the buildings
* Small fridge in certain rooms
* Unfriendly farm owner

Pros:
* Friendly and helpful front desk staff and cleaners
* Braai area
* Decent self catering facilities
* Decent beds
* Daily cleaning of rooms
* Quiet and in the middle of nowhere
* Animals walking around the housing

We have stayed at aloe grove for seven years now on an annual basis for a children's derby day against queens college. The star attraction is the boma Fire and braai which everybody thoroughly enjoys. The spread of food that is put on is probably over the top, you will however never go hungry. Other meals are generally good and the overall service is definitely above average with most requests dealt with timorously and with a smile. The setting is extremely peaceful with lots of game to see coming to feed in the late afternoon. We still have about five years of derby days left in Queenstown and I will look forward to five more visits to aloe grove. Many thanks to the management and staff for the happy memories so far.

My husband and I stopped over at Aloe Grove for one evening on our way back home after a week at the coast. We had booked a room in the Silo (Backpacker) Building however on arrival we were offered a free upgrade to a beautiful double room with kitchenette. What a lovely surprise. Our room had it's own patio with braai facilities and a view into the beautiful bush nearby. The room was very clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. The gardens are well kept. The service from Reception staff was excellent. I would highly recommend Aloe Grove to anyone wanting to stay in the area.

Aloe Grove is not a luxury venue, so look elsewhere if that is what you want, but it is a great place for a relatively simple wedding. There is a lovely chapel and surprisingly big function room. The scenery is spectacular making a special backdrop for photos. The staff are friendly and the service good, with seemingly nothing being too much trouble. There is a really nice braai area too. The rooms are adequate and the breakfast is good.

We enjoyed our stay at Aloe Grove for our family wedding. The rooms were ok and the fact that we could walk to our room after a good party really helped. Breakfast was good and service too. Boma braai was a treat.

We decided to try a new route from Durban to Plett and our stopover was at Queenstown so we chose Aloe Grove to spend the night.

We stayed in the stables which was very comfortable with all the necessary amenities.

The staff was very friendly and helpful and best of all our dinner was served in our chalet which was a real farm serving with three vegetables and great lamb chops.

If I had to add a negative I would say that although it’s December it’s fairly cold in Queenstown at night so make sure you have a jersey handy.

We stayed here for two nights and it was very nice. We had an amazing braai at our cottage every night. The most amazing part of our stay was our game walk on the farm. The giraffes was very close and it felt amazing. Would be back.

Thank you Jacques, we are so glad you managed to see the Giraffe. They have become quite the attraction at Aloe Grove as they are very tame and are easy to find along with all the other game on the farm.
