We have just spent a month in one of the `rooms` here, though really the one we stayed in was a self contained flat of generous proportions, it had a good sized bedroom, nice furniture, great wardrobe space and TV and Aircon, and a fan! There was also a seperat w.c and shower and a large lounge/kitchen and fridge with freezer. Nicks is run by `Nit` and assisited by `B` and the two women keep the place spotless. The grounds are lovely and the pool is divine and the feeling of privicy is excellent. Nicks Resort is a place to chill, as said we have stayed here for 4 weeks following travelling through India, Nepal, Vietnam and Cambodia, unless you `really` want to unwind a week here is great and if you like the seclusion then hey, stay longer. Although it is a 10-15 minute walk to the main road via nice lane, once there the area really opens up, just flag down a Baht-Bus (every 5 mins) into Pattaya (20 Baht) and vice-versa, really easy and really cheap, there is SO much to do around and on the main Sukumvit Road, there is a GREAT ladyboy show at MIMOSA just 20 mins away and costs only 50B to get in, it will be the bargain of your Thai trip, also, you MUST visit Nong Nooch Gardens, the hardy walker will take 20 mins to walk there on the main road but just pay 10B and you are there in 5 mins, 500B entrance fee gets you stroking Elephants and Tigers and seeing lots of shows, Zoo`s and best of all the Gardens, simply put they are beautiful and another bargain, There is a Sea-life centre on the Sukumvit road also and a hundred other places too, an Pattaya? well, read up on it for yourself, the open minded are in for a treat. Bang Sare is a small village but very nice and tourism has not encroached upon iit and it has a nice feel, and a lovely beach, lots of restaurants too with food at good prices. Only 25 mins walk from Nicks (are you in a hurry? catch the Baht Bus then) Best food so far? TESCO-LOTUS food hall upstairs in the supermarket on the Sukumvit road, cheap and good or what? So, stay at Nicks, Go to Pattaya, get off at the BIG C sign, walk 100m and catch the baht bus (10B) to the Pattaya seafront, strut your stuff and catch the Baht bus (10B) back to the top of the road (BIG C Supermarke) and do a food shop, have a meal at their food court, then cross the road with your 2-3 shopping bags and flag down the Baht bus (20B) back to Nicks. Easy. BTW, the Baht Bus is a pick-up with seating for 10-12 in the back.

I have never felt the need to leave a hotel review before, but in the case of Nick’s resort in Bang Saray I feel I should. The hotel is nice, modern and spotlessly clean. This place is all about the extra nine yards the management go to make your stay a comfortable one. I stayed as a single traveler for three nights in a standard room which by the way is excellent value at just 850 baht and I rented a motorbike. Unfortunately having not ridden a bike for over 30 years I was a bit rusty and came off, damaging my wrist quite badly. The owner dropped what he was doing and drove me immediately to casualty. After close to four hours I got fixed up. The whole time Nick stayed with me and as he can speak Thai was an enormous help. The following day I decided to rest up after the shock. I was brought breakfast in bed, soup for lunch and a pizza with a large bottle of beer for dinner, I asked for none of this, but was really grateful of how well virtual strangers looked after me. I cannot speak highly enough of the service at this establishment and intend to return later in the year and spend a little longer there. Thank you all at Nick’s Resort.

After two dreadful nights in Pattaya, my sister and I decided to look for a hotel in a more relaxed location. Thanks to tripadvisor we found Nick’s Resort in Bang Sare, around 15 miles east of Pattaya. The reviews were good it was rated number one in the area, so we called the Resort. Nick the owner, said if we could wait for an hour he would collect us from our previous hotel. This was a great start and Nick wouldn’t take a penny for this service. We had the choice of several rooms but chose the Economy Room as it was the cheapest. When asked how long we wanted to stay we said maybe five or six days. Nick knowing we were short on funds suggested if we stayed for a week, he would charge just 4,500 baht with a motorbike thrown in. He also loaned us a microwave, toaster and rice maker. What a deal just 100 pounds! The room though not huge is certainly unbelievable value, with air-con, large fridge, flat screen tv, dvd, king-size bed and authentic teak furniture, including dining table and chairs. Our daily routine of an early morning swim, followed by breakfast in the beautiful gardens with the two resort dogs Scuffy and Monster was an absolute pleasure, as was our lengthy undisturbed sessions of sunbathing and reading trashy novels by the pool. The town of Bang Sare is nearly two kilometers away, and though we went there quite a few times we were quite happy to be away from the bars and the nightlife. Three or four glasses of wine in the on-site bar watching the sun disappear was a much more relaxing way to chill. Most nights we were invited to eat with the gathering of local Thai girls that come to the resort to dine with Nit (Nick’s wife) and her very capable assistant Bee. There was always heaps of food and lots of different things to try with some great spicy fish dishes. We even ate and enjoyed fried locust, grasshopper and silkworms. It felt a little daring, but truly authentic. It’s not been the easiest thing we have ever done, two sisters in their early twenties traveling through Thailand, but of all the places we have visited, Nick’s Resort is the place we have felt the most at ease and at home. On to Koh Chang tomorrow, I hope we find somewhere half as good.

I like to say what a good time we had when stay at Nick's Resort in Bang Saray. Everything is very good and clean well kept gardens, and owners and staff take care very well. We especially like the swimming pool and the big apartment we stay 3 nights in. Have everything, can even cooking. Also English breakfast very nice. We rent a motorbike very cheap and get to the sandy beach in under 10 minutes. Not sure if we go back to Bang Saray, but if we do, for sure stay again at Nick's friendly resort.
