Die Tuishuise is a collection of over 30 houses that line Market Street up to the Victoria Manor, a grand old colonial hotel, where delicious Karoo meals are served. Each house is beautifully decorated in its own distinctive theme with antique furniture. Cradock is a great base from which to explore the unique landscapes and animals of the Mountain Zebra National Park.

This is the first time we have visited Cradock, which was clearly a beautiful small town in the past and has several old buildings from the Victorian era, one of which is this lovely old hotel, which has been well restored and maintained. The room was comfortable, the shower average, the staff friendly and efficient. The evening dinner was a buffet of lamb, beef fillet and chicken pie with assorted veg and was delicious. Unfortunately the experience was somewhat let down by extremely noisy large trucks passing through the town all day and all night, and central Cradock has the sad deteriorating look of so many small towns in South Africa nowadays.

It's the perfect place to stay for a family. Great care has been taken to furnish each room and the accommodation is spacious, comfortable and great value for money. The pool is perfect for a quick dip after a long day on the road and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Not to mention its close proximity to the wonderful Mountain Zebra National Park. We'll definitely be back!

Die Tuishuise is a totally unique concept of renovated Victorian houses. The experience is like no other & utterly enjoyable & quirky. Despite the “rooms” being renovated houses, our stay was completely comfortable with every modern convenience. We also loved the food: traditional, homely farm fare & the attention to detail (fresh farm milk in the fridge, a bulbinella cutting to plant as a gift). The owners could not have been more hospitable. In addition, Cradock & surrounds is beautiful & has a surprising variety of wonderful activities (Mountain Zebra National Park, Schreiner museum, Anglo-boer war relics etc). All in all, an absolutely wonderful destination for a family holiday.

You will not regret staying in one of the Tuishuise - the wonderfully renovated nineteenth century cottages along Market Street in the old town of Cradock. Comfort, maintenance, helpfulness, beauty, peace, all there. What is more the staff will help you engage with the town and its townships of Lingelihle and Michausdal, find the monuments and museums, and learn a great deal about the pain and also better features of the South African past. Walk around the corner to the Olive Schreiner House museum, pick up walking and driving tour guides to the town and townships, and when you've explored, enjoy your Tuishuis!

Excellent stop after a long day on the road.
Karoo menu with lamb, pork and chicken pie makes for a home coocked feeling. Dinner delivered to our unit was the cherry on top!
Car parked safely overnight makes for a quick departure to the coast the next morning.
An annual institution for is!

We stopped over in Cradock for one night and stayed at Tuishuise, No 50. From the moment you walk into the reception at The Victoria Manor you feel welcome. Staff are all very well trained and are genuinely interested in their guests and in making your stay a memorable one. We had a quaint house to stay in with a small back garden filled with lemon and orange trees. Tastefully decorated with just enough to make you feel as though you have gone back in time. We had dinner in the dining room at the Victoria Manor and ticked into yummy homemade Karoo lamb and Sirloin roast. You feel as though you have been whisked back in time as you are surrounded by silverware , Persian carpets, deep red walls , cloches, decanters and more. A rose bowl with local flowers and a crystal candelabra and a glass fig with a silver top sit on a mirror in the centre of your table for 2.

Thank you so much to a lady who had the vision to save these houses.

This is such a lovely cottage in a lovely town in Cradock. Hosts went out of their way to make sure we felt comfortable and safe, especially travelling under the current risk of COVID-19. There is a lovely fireplace in the cottage, and we were able to braai under the starry Karoo sky. What a treat!!

Both the Tuishuise and the Victoria Manor are rustic, yet elegant. The offerings are stunning and make for a great getaway to the Karoo. The food at the hotel is of a great standard, whilst the rooms offered at the establishment are of the same quality. Overall, a great stay.

Love the accommodation of Tuishuise - beautifully furnished in period furniture.
The WIFI works in the hotel, but does not extend to the Tuishuise self catering units properly, you need to instal repeaters and get that working.
Unfortunately the food (buffet which is now served to your table) has really gone downhill. Do you have a new chef? Your buffet used to be SO good on the Fish weekend. Can you not do what hotels are doing in Maldives etc. and still have a buffet, and you have a few staff members serving you (so you don't have to touch cutlery/crocery (so still legal under Covid restrictions)?
