Our hostess couldn't do enough, nothing was too much trouble. The room was clean and well maintained. Breakfast set us up for the day. Would highly recommend. The area was suffering a severe drought and water restrictions in place, the property does have a back up supply.

Dear Jenny, thank you so much for a well deserved evening. Dinner was exquisite and magnifique , those pork chops to "die" for and the veggies and koekister woa woa ... Breakfast was excellent and so tastefull.

Cradock liegt nicht mehr ganz auf Jedermanns Tour entlang der Garden Route. Schon recht landeinwärts (230 km ab Port Elizabeth) ist es günstiger Ausgangspunkt für einen Besuch des „Camdeboo Nationalpark“, besser bekannt unter seinem alten Namen „Mountain Zebra Nationalpark“. Für uns waren Ort, Nationalpark und Unterkunft eher „ein Schuss in den Ofen“. Im Ort haben wir uns – insbesondere am Abend und in Supermarktnähe eher unsicher gefühlt (vielleicht hatte es auch mit dem Monatsende, den Gehaltsauszahlungen und sofortiger Umsetzung der Einnahmen in Alkohol bei einigen Teilen der (laut VZ 2011) rund 40.000 Bewohner), im Nationalpark haben wir nur sehr wenige Tiere (zumeist in der Ferne) gesehen und die Unterkunft war doch etwas enttäuschend. Man nächtigt nicht im Haupthaus, von dem aber in Buchungsportalen Bilder auftauchen, sondern in drei nebeneinanderliegenden kleinen Räumen, die hinter einem Carport mit engen Parkmöglichkeiten liegen. In unserem recht kleinen Zimmer war zwar alles sauber, aber man musste sehr mit Lebensmitteln aufpassen, weil sonst sofort Ameisen da waren. Sehr klein waren das Badezimmer und auch die Terrasse stellt man sich nach den Aufnahmen größer vor. Der Swimmingpool befindet sich im Privatgarten, welcher durch ein Gartentor vom Gästebereich abgetrennt ist (dies hält davon ab, ihn zu benutzen). Das Grundstück ist – wie oft in Südafrika – nach außen durch Mauern gut gesichert, im Innenbereich standen hingegen einige Türen zum Privathaus hin auf, ohne das man dort irgendwelche Personen sah. Die Nacht war ruhig und angenehm und auch das Frühstück, welches im privaten Wohnzimmer des Haupthauses serviert wurde, war von Umfang, Auswahl und Qualität okay. Alles in allem war der Aufenthalt für eine Nacht ok., insgesamt zählte er zu einem der schwächsten Tage unserer Südafrikareise.
