My family and I have just returned back from our 3 night stay at Hlosi Game Lodge and we absolutely loved it! The cabins were really comfortable and cosy and all the features were exactly as you would want. The hot bath was particualrly nice after a day out in the bush and the shower was also very nice in the morning. There was an outdoor patio area where we could sit and look out into the bush and catch some sun. The food was very tasty and wholesome and the staff were so warm and friendly. They would greet you with a smile and a hot towel and drinks after being out on the drives. Our ranger was Bea and he was fantastic. We loved him, he was really warm and friendly, very knowledgeable and cool and calm around some big predators e.g. Lions and Herds of Elephants. Elvis and Melo and all the staff were so nice. We had a great time and we would highly reccomend to anyone considering going.

Super lodge with well kept facilities and a friendly team. We stayed in the Luxury Tent - super private with everything we needed including private verandah overlooking the bushlands, mini-bar, aircon, big tub and even an outdoor shower!
Meals were excellent and served promptly to fit in with return from game drives etc.
Drives were 2x 3hr in a large reserve that is shared with a couple of other lodges - meaning that there is plenty land and plenty wildlife.

I can’t fault Hlosi Lodge, from the moment you arrive you are warmly welcomed and made to feel relaxed and at home. Everything is taken care of and nothing is too much trouble. The food was amazing, when we stayed it was a limited choice, but this only means it’s tasty, fresh and cooked to a very high standard and they always catered for you if you wanted something different. We stayed in a family lodge and it was huge, a lovely lounge area, deck to watch animals (you genuinely do see them) and a stunning bathroom and showers both indoor and outside. As for the game drives, they were amazing. Evence was our guide and he knew more than anyone could about the reserve and the wildlife that call it home. Wow! Our second time to the beautiful Amakhala game reserve, this time we stayed at the stunning Hlosi Lodge! The location, views out onto the plains filled with game and the resident hippo in the water hole couldn’t be any more perfect! We were warmly welcomed and made to feel at home immediately by Elvis. The rest of the staff were always friendly and ready to help where they could.
Our guide Ryan went above and beyond to make this spontaneous trip memorable and his ethics and passion for nature really shone through! And hows for the incredible sighting of an African wattled lapwing way out of distribution! We also went on a night drive and were blessed with sightings of some of the more rare nocturnal creatures like bat eared foxes, brown hyena and porcupine. Not to mention spring hares! There are 1000’s! What a unique experience to be surrounded by hundreds of hopping eyes! Thank you to everyone who made our trip memorable!

We have just had the most amazing experience with Hlosi Game Lodge. From the moment we arrived and sat in front of a fire to complete the paperwork, to the moment we left, after singing and dancing with the staff, it was all a wonderful time. The food was delicious and the kitchen staff went the extra mile to cater for our allergies. The beds were very comfortable, and the spaciousness of the room was fantastic and very clean. The view from the balcony (and the bath!) was out over the reserve - we were lulled to sleep by the sounds of insects and woke to a dawn chorus from the many birds. The game drives themselves were breathtaking. Our ranger guide had fantastic knowledge of the park and the animals we saw, and even when we were hunting something specific, he would stop for photo opportunities along the way. Refreshments were served on the drives at fantastic vantage points to allow for more photos and selfies. We were only there for 4 drives, yet we saw 4 out of the big 5 (we substituted leopards with cheetahs!) and more than 20 different species in total. We would highly recommend Hlosi Game Lodge - keep singing and dancing! The joy you shared will be long remembered.

We traveled to Hlosi Lodge Game Reserve with my son who is 14 and my daughter who is 12 alongside my wife. We had a very warm welcome from Andi one of the hosts and were thoroughly treated well the whole time we were here, never lacking for any drinks or food. The food quality was excellent and enjoyed every meal we particularly like the venison steaks and French toast.
Bonakele was our safari guide on the game drives and we saw everything we wanted including real close-up experiences with the Lions, the elephants and the giraffe. Bonakele told us about the flora and fauna and bird life.
It was especially exciting to see the hippo at the watering hole within the hotel. On one of the days we managed to see almost all of the animals including the giraffe from our Veranda!! We also could hear the lion is roaring and jackals communicating during the night. The food was always excellent and our compliments to the chef as well as Vuyo who served our drinks in a professional and friendly manner, and always remembered our choices of drinks. He was very friendly and polite as well all of the staff. We especially enjoyed the morning singing with Noli and Thembi who were great singers dancers and musicians as well all of the staff but I only remember the names of some including Andi, Ollie and zee and Nosarge, and the manager Elvis.
We would definitely recommend I stay here for anyone who's interested in getting a real wild life experience.Hlosi would get a high rating for every aspect of the vacation. Relaxation between drives was great also and this is as much as a relaxing holiday as it was an adventure for our family. No one should be scared as the guide makes everyone feel safe even the kids. Our family enjoyed our stay at Hlosi Game Lodge. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and helpful. Every need was met immediately. The lodge is in a beautiful setting, surrounded by wildlife. The dining room provided excellent food options. The staff was amazing and surprised me with a cake, song, and dance for my birthday! Our luxury tent was beautifully appointed and comfortable. I enjoyed relaxing on my bed and watching animals right out my windows. The game drives were a perfect way to spend sunrise and sunset. We saw all the animals on our check list several times. Each drive included a stop for drinks and snacks in a unique location. We spent one sunset with a tower of giraffes! Our stay was perfect and will be an experience we will remember always.

From the first moment to the last Hlosi lodge provided a truly magical experience for our family. We had 4 nights here and it will stay with us forever. The game drives were excellent, with Hank providing expert knowledge and understanding and being responsive to the preferences of the group. So much so, that for once on holiday, all 3 teenagers were up early and would not dream of sleeping in for a morning game drive.Food was simply lovely, with very attentive service at all times. Amazing two and a half days spent at Hsoli lodge. The staff and rangers were unbelievably welcoming knowledgeable thoughtful and accommodating. Food was delicious, bar was well stocked and the rooms were luxurious including a wonderful outdoor shower. Sorry for the delay in replying. For the game rides, wear something warm, especially the early morning (6am) one as it can be quite chilly. We went in their summer and we were still cold. They give you fleecy kagools but it wasn’t enough. There’s no hiding from the wind when you are on tops of the hill. As for what to wear for evening, there isn’t any strict dress code. Casual is the key, and as long as you are comfortable.

We would love to host you and the family for a couple of nights. We do have qualified childminders on-site to look after the little ones when you go out on game drives. We have a dedicated children's area, but should you prefer, we can look after the little one in the room as well. You can just discuss this with the lodge manager upon arrival at the lodge.
