It's hard to fault HillsNek, even if I wanted to. From the friendly greetings at arrival, through the extremely comfortable facilities in the "tent" and the haute cuisine food, to the care and attention lavished by the staff (especially the excellent Jaison), we were at happy and at ease. What a treat the outside shower was too! Tim was an accommodating and knowledgeable guide (we had two superb game drives) and he made it his business to track down the elusive animals which were on our list, as well as paying attention to the smaller guys and the birdlife. All in all, we had a lovely whistlestop one-night stay ... Hillsnek is to be highly recommended.
We stayed at HillsNek for two nights in April and had a fantastic stay. The accommodations is luxurious (the tents are stunning) and the food was plentiful and very tasty. Our guide, Roelof was very knowledgeable, friendly and a good host. All the staff were great. We would definitely recommend staying here and we hope to visit again sometime soon.
We stayed here for 4 nights and absoloutley LOVED it! Zi the hostess was absolutely wonderful and so welcoming whenever we arrived back from our rides, she couldn’t do enough for us and was always so cheerful. Tim our ranger was fantastic on the drives and was so informative. He was brilliant at locating and looking for the Big 5! The safari tents are STUNNING with an epic view. The only criticism I would have was the food at dinner could be hit and miss, breakfasts and lunches were fantastic! Dinner however sometimes was mediocre but it wouldn’t stop us returning. Would strongly recommend hillsnek and would love to return. We also loved sharing meals with the other guests it was a great way to share stories and connect. Loved our stay!
We had a special 3 nights at Hillsnek Safari Camp. The family tent suited our needs perfectly. The decor was contemporary, in keeping with the surroundings and the 2 bedrooms suited our family of 4 perfectly. Housekeeping were brilliant, the rooms were clean and they saved us from a scary looking (harmless) spider! The food was lovely and the service was fantastic. The game drives were memorable in a stunning location, and our game driver was informative, enthusiastic and tailored our drives to our requests and those of the children.
Excellent location, close to Port Elizabeth. Vast array of game with good viewing opportunities. Excellent game ranger (Roelof) very knowledgeable & a good host. Staff were very friendly & efficient. Food was good, but all we seemed to do was eat! Wine list could be improved with more affordable South African wines. We really enjoyed our trip!
