Detailed Reviews
we have had many returns to this well run family orientated establishment over the December season. Never mind the ski or island trips this is the location is ideal for that get away from the rat race and calm your feverish spirit. Plenty of beautiful walks and great swims in the sea. Perfect for sun downers watching a sun set from high up on the cliffs overlooking the sea westwards.

What a gem this hotel is, the perfect place for relaxation and to be spoiled by the attentive staff. Our room had a beautiful view over the long wide beach and was roomy and comfortable with everything thought of for your every need.
The food is amazing from a huge buffet breakfast to a four-course dinner and should you have room The Deck next door serves lunch. There are cakes and rusks to accompany the help-yourself hot drinks and lovely lounges with enormous settees inside and out to relax on.
There aren’t masses of things to do here but there are pleasant walks, a bit of golf or bowls, a beautiful swimming pool and plenty of time to read and chill.

Morgan Bay hotel is 50 km off the N2 at the end of a good tar road. It is right on the beach and many of the rooms face the ocean. It is a destination and definitely not a stopover or a business hotel. When we arrived it was in the middle of lockdown but the hotel seemed full: most of the customers were either couples or families with fairly young children, The rooms are large and for a small premium you can have a sea-facing room: highly recommended as the rooms face south-east and you will see the sun rise over the sea. Dinner and breakfast included. Dinner was five courses and food very professionally prepared and served. One thing that stands out is the friendliness of the staff ... right from the reception on arrival, up to our departure. If you are a happy hiker then the hotel is a good base. We walked up to Trennery's hotel 14 km up the wild coast, and back the next day. A guide is provided plus packed lunch. We will definitely return.

Thanks for the wonderful insightful review, lovely having active walkers, the only way to truly see the coast and to experience the wild natural beauty, is on your feet. We are a family-owned & family-run hotel - no corporates insight and we think this contributes to our every friendly and accommodating nature. We cannot wait for to experience more of what our area has to offer on your next visit.

We started our wild coast road at the Morgan Bay hotel. Our room overlooked the pool. Although you dont have the full 180° sea view we were protected against the sun and wind. The rooms are modern and well maintained. Meals can be enjoyed at the hotel or their alla cart restaurant next door. Both were very good and for a laid back option go for the restaurant. The craft beer is lovely. Service can be a bit slow at the restaurant but who is in a rush when on holiday. The beach is lovely and early morning walks a lovely way to start the day. Driving up the hill to the view point is well worth the short drive. I can highly recommend Morgan Bay hotel.

We have just spent a week here and I am so sad to leave. The location is 10/10! The sea view is amazing, the food was spectacular, we were so spoilt with delicious 5 course dinners, breakfasts and lunches, and I looked forward to reading the menu/news every day. The bar staff are highly attentive and friendly (thank you Dan for your hospitality and keeping our drinks filled) after a day of fishing or swimming the canapés on the bar were so yummy and all the staff so welcoming.
The rooms are clean and comfortable and my son enjoyed the games rooms and kids activities.
We unfortunately didn’t get to visit the Deck this holiday as we never really had a chance as we were too busy enjoying the Hotel.
Thank you Mandy and Erica for your hospitality and kindness we hope to be back soon x

Just a very special place to unwind and relax, where their staff do everything to make you feel welcome and part of the family! The bedrooms are clean and have everything one needs for comfort. Breakfast and Dinners served in the Dining Room are of the highest standard and beautifully presented. Definitely a place to visit again and again.

My partner & I visited the restaurant for lunch, they were very busy and there was a group of 4 people waiting for a table to be seated together. We were only two people & a very helpful waitress assisted us by quickly cleaning a small table for 2. Halfway through the restaurant, on our way towards the table, the manager/owner shouted at the waitress to stop giving tables away as she has a group of other people waiting to be seated. Both us and the waitress stood there not knowing what to do as the manager/owner just turned around and walked off. All the other customers and staff around us who heard her shouting ceased their conversations and looked at us - no one knew what to do or say.
We promptly left the restaurant and on our way out one of the customers advised us to go to Mitford Hotel just down the road - what a wonderful reception we received from both management & staff !!

Hi Roeloffse I appreciate your feed back and we are fully aware of the incident in question and as the owner we have dealt with this in the appropriate manner where my manager was completely out of line and has been dealt with accordingly. I have been in the service industry all my live and fully understand the different pressures that are dealt with by the staff but this doesn't give her the right to behave in such a manner. I apologize for he way she behaved to the staff and we hope that we will make this up to you the next time you find yourself in our little village. Kind regards Richard Warren-Smith

Great place to unwind. Beautiful beach, friendly staff and funky sitting room. A nice touch is the adults only library on the second floor to read and relax. Take a room on the second floor (room 1 or 2) with great views of the ocean. Would definitely be visiting again.

From the minute you arrive you experience a quality of service, accommodation and food so different from a conventional hotel, bearing in mind that its some distance from suppliers and facilities i.e. you can't just pop in to a deli or a hardware shop when you run out or things go wrong.
The hotel, having been family run for, I think, 3 generations, offers a unique personal touch which no chain of hotels can emulate, no matter how good.
Personal touches such as acknowledgment of guests on arrival, departure and special occasions, a real knowledge of the area and what it has to offer and a genuine warmth in dealings with staff and owner who is personally involved and where nothing seems to be too much trouble makes for a wonderful stay.
Whilst not a beautiful building, its practical with a wonderful location and the upgrades, which are about 3 years old are tasteful and attractive, also spotlessly maintained

Thanks so much for the kind & wonderful review, in these dire times it is so encouraging having such positive words spoken over a business that we are very passionate about and to which we are extremely committed too. We hope to be able to welcome you back in the future when the virus has run its course. Thank you.
