DO NOT RENT THIS UNIT. Unfortunately I had a terrible experience when renting this unit through Africa Safaris. The unit is in poor condition and doesn’t look like it has been maintained in years. Broken window panes, window panes held in with sticky tape, broken balustrade on balcony a danger to children, blocked shower, broken kitchen tap, stairs to unit collapsing. In addition, the description of the unit on the website and what was included was misleading or plainly wrong. Electricity as supposed to be supplied by the owner but this was not done and had to buy own electricity. African Safaris has zero interest in compensating for this.

What a hole. Nothing worked.
The air cons were broken or were so loud sleep was not comfortable.
Broken sewage pipe on the side of the house.
The management team knew about all the problems and did very little to rectify them.
The fridges were not working and a chest freezer was supplied as an alternative.
Don't stay there

There are about 20 different houses which are owned by different owners and booked through different agencies. We stayed in unit 20. It was not so close to the beach but the view was still splendid. Our "house man" did the dishes. It was a beautiful house, but there were some issues like no gas connected to the stove, the one geyser was not switched on etc, so make sure on arrival that everything is in order.
The designs are very environmental friendly and blends in with the environment.
There is a private passage straight to the beach.

Do not stay in unit 3!!!!. We booked unit 3 at Mar e Sol, paid a fotune just to have no privacy what so ever. We had 3 cleaning staff not allowing us any privacy, this resulted in us not being able to use the pool that we paid to rent as the staff decided to turn it into their private laundry using the washing machine and tumble dryer that we were renting and hanging their clothes and underwear up to dry at the pool and using the walkspace to the pool as their private kitchen leaving their groceries and dirty dishes all over the place. They were constantly in the house all the time even when we were not there!!! They kept on plugging in a faulty two plate stove in the laundry that contantly tripped the electricity as well. This was so bad we ended up leaving 2 days earlier. To add insult to injury the owener is now sending us a bill claiming we used their fishing bate and broke their fridge. Such nonsense! We never used anyone's bait and we most certainly did not brake the fridge.

Stayed over Christmas new years. The unit had direct private access to the beach. The views are absolutely insane. We could see dolphins in the Indian Ocean from our balcony. 2 of the 4 bedrooms had ocean views and we woke up with the sound of the waves. The maid services, great and modern amenities made our stay feel like a real holiday. We were 9 people but the large deck had some much space for cocktail, bbq, outdoor dining to view sunsets. The furniture was very modern and you could tell it was almost new. So many sofas, great comfortable beds and lots of floor to ceiling storage The complex staff were always willing to get our luggage to and fro, help whenever we needed. The staff on the beach prepared our beach tent every morning for us. I didn’t want to leave .

The staff at the gate did not even get up to come and assist us when we asked where is the office. When we asked when why they don't want to help us. They said they don't want white people there. We were there 21 January 2016, about 21:00. There where 2 guys. They were very rude! Because of them we drove back to Komatipoort, that time of the evening. If the owner would like to contact me, please do: desirelombard@hotmail.com

Mar e Sol as an establishment is just ok. Each house is individually owned, so while some may have superb decor and upkeep, ours had one working toilet out of two, no electricity when we checked in, a locked safe which we couldn't access, and a bathroom door that locked you in unless someone opened it from the outside. There was also no view of the water from our house, although the website makes it sound as though all houses allow you to see the beach. This was house #14. The other houses may be fine. The location is nice in terms of just a short walk to the beach, but if you plan on taking transport to Ponta because you don't have a 4x4, it's the farthest accommodation from town and you should plan on walking a decent amount. The management is by far what makes this place an unpleasant stay. Upon letting the front desk woman know about all the problems in our house, she did not apologize for the inconvenience, and said "oh thanks for reminding me". On the day of check out, we asked this same woman if we could leave our bags at reception while we went to the beach and if she could arrange transport for us to the border, she said yes but she closes early on Sundays. We asked her what time and clarified with her that she would close at 12pm. We arrived back to the reception at 11:30am and she had already left for the day and locked our bags inside the office. The guard who has the key, to his credit, did not want to let us in since she had not told him that we would be coming to get our things. After an hour, he was able to contact her and let us in to get our bags. We were not able to arrange transport with her as she had already left for the day and ended up getting a ride in the back of some kind South African's truck. In any establishment that relies on customer satisfaction, and I am astounded that hotel management would lock a customers bags inside the office and leave when she explicitly told us she would be there till 12. Additionally, if she knew that there were problems in our house, why would she have not fixed them until after our arrival. I have traveled multiple times to Mozambique, and have never experienced anything so blatantly disrespectful. Thoroughly disappointed and would never return.

Mar E Sol, unit 20, was the worst experience we have had in the 4 years we have now lived in MOZ (and we have been many places!).
The unit is advertised for 9 people but there is not enough dinning chairs for 9, not enough glasses, cultery, plates etc. and there were only beddings for 8.
The braii did not work and even though the manager promised to fix it within half an hour we didn´t see him until the next morning. The house is generally in a bad condition. Door handles fell of, lights was not working, it was dripping from the ceilings, there was a bad smell in the house as if it is never ventilated and there is cockroaches everywhere.
We ended up leaving after 1,5 day, - it was simply not worth staying! The manager at Mar E Sol was not to much help!
The owner of the house does not recognize any of the issues that we have raised and the booking agent, Lee-Ann Wagner from African Safarien, either. We are definitely never going back to Mar E Sol again.

We stayed at mar e sol #6 owned by Marian. The unit was furnished to a very high standard and had absolutely everything we needed. a 2 min walk down to beach or town is also very convenient. All in all agreat holiday that we found was great value for money.

While in the area try the dlophin encounters as it is really special.

We stayed at this Motel for 4 days. It is very well situhated right on the beach. Its clean and the beds are not to bad. The mozzies did eat me a bit but this is expected. The Motels resturant is very expensive for South Africans and truely there food was pathetic!!! Rather eat somewhere else as its just not worth it. A small plate of Chips (frys) R50.00. R500.00 for prawns...
