This is our second time staying at O'Leary's and everything was as expected and more. We took a larger cabin this time as we had more people. It was clean, modern but with that rustic feel, you love when 'camping' out. Mere steps from the beautiful Sauble Beach and the main street are the bonuses. It allows everyone to enjoy their stay doing what they want... Shop, Swim, Sunbathe, Relax the porch reading. We loved the updates (New TV's, cable and internet, etc.) and of course our gracious host Richard. Just bring your pillow, blankets and towels and you are all set, everything else is there for you to use. Noticing they are open year-round...might try one for the Winter Fun. Thanks, Richard--See you next year!

I have done my share of backpacking and tent camping over a span of 45 years. During that time and over the last 20 years I have used many cabins, bed and breakfasts, and lodges across the United States, Canada and Western Europe. During the early 1970s by wife, Linda, and I pitched our 9 x 12 Ted Williams tent at Sauble Falls Provincial Park. That was during our hiking days. We (Linda and our three kids) often hiked into town and explored various cabins and cottages – finding a gem of a location at Cedar Sands Cottages. In 1975 we stayed in the "Ontario" cottage. Cedar Sands became one of our favorite escapes. During the first 20 or so years we used "Ontario" but mostly the "Superior" cottage. Around that time, we started doing some genealogical research and our travels took us to Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Italy where we stayed in the beautiful "Zimmer frees". After I retired, we stayed in many lodges in national parks across the United States and Canada – from Newfoundland to Vancouver Island. Interspersed with longer trips we often came to the "Superior Cottage" to relax– likely 12 to 15 times in the space between 1975 and 2019. The former owners of Cedar Sands – likely in their late 40s when we first started using the place, lived in the current "Sunset" cottage. Maintenance needs of the 12 cabins/cottages started to take its toll. Richard Szasz purchased the cottages and started an ambitious several year restoration project. Nostalgia took over several years ago when I was no longer able to do air travel due to breathing problems. We started returning to O'Leary's Beach Cottages (the former Cedar Sands). We have returned every year since. Each year, I continue to be impressed with the refurbishing efforts by Richard Szasz. I am grateful for his remodeling efforts and hope to return every year. I strongly recommend O'Leary's for the following reasons; The cabins are in an ideal location. They are one block from the busy lakefront road which is often overtaken with activities. They are only two blocks from the main east-west road that forms the center of town – which, at times, can be quite noisy and crowded. The cottage area is nice and quiet after sunset once the campfires start burning (and overnight for sleeping). These cabins are nestled in a wooded setting (reminiscent of my camping days) and the campfire smell is delightful. Richard is a delightful host – who regularly stops by to check to see if we need anything. He is quick to respond whenever we do need something – like a burnt out light bulb. He engages in relaxed conversation filling me in on his efforts to make this a comfortable family environment. I might mention that I had a serious medical situation arise at home in Indianapolis last year and Richard was quite helpful in understanding and accommodating to my needs. In the morning, being able to walk two or three doors down to "Luscious Bakery" (the actual name) for heavenly pastries in a delightfully entertaining atmosphere is priceless. I would almost conclude that Daniel is a local cultural icon. One nice feature of O'Leary's concerns the availability of kindling and firewood on the premises as well as a little stockpile of board games, reading material and some beach equipment (first-come first-served basis) for the kids. Linda and I have enjoyed talking to several people who have stopped by the Superior Cottage who recount stories of being there when they were little – or during years gone by. Many have pleasant memories to share. Best of all is that Richard and his mom take really good care of the place. George & Linda Karwisch Indianapolis

Richard was so gracious and giving, he went overboard to make sure our time there was superb and it was. Great little cottages all snuggled together among some shady trees- our little back yard was sunny and a picnic table with a large umbrella for shade; a bbq and a fire pit along with chairs. An honour system tuck shop, and fire wood on site. A quaint little pathway of stones zig zagging it’s way to the road that leads to Sauble Beach -about one block away. Central to grocery store and a block from all the tourist shops, coffee shops and restaurants on the main drag. The Marinas are close by. We rented A kayak as and went fishing down Sauble River (full of Bass) took a visit to Beautiful Sauble Falls 10 min away. There is also a golf course 10 min away! The Cottages are equipped with everything needed. Wifi / Cable and Air Conditioning or Heater - great place for spring and autumn fishermen as well. We enjoyed our stay and definitely will return 👍🏻 Thumbs up for us !

Our week at O'Leary's was nothing less than perfect (including the weather!). The cottage we stayed in fit our needs perfect and aside from bedding everything was provided. It was very clean and well kept as well. It's apparent that the owners main concern is making sure every guest is happy and comfortable! We have already made our reservations for next summer and will continue to do so each summer!
